What I had over the last few days.

SIERRA NEVADA KELLERWEIS : Nice enough German type beer but I think I will stick to the real German beers as the Germans do it better and in bigger bottles !

WEIHENSTEPHANER DUNKEL : Not a bad dunkel and better then Erdingers IMO but not as good as the Augusteiner one I had a few weeks ago.

ST. BERNARDUS CHRISTMAS ALE : Spicy and fruity tatse anll wrapped up i none. Great after coming in from the cold and a very stong beer.

ANCHOR STEAM CHRISTMAS ALE : Now I had this beer after the St Bernardus Christmas ale and I wasnt sure about it. Got a strong ginger taste from this but after reading other reviews online it seems it best kept for a few years.
(note to self , must start a beer cellar for such beers)

    Hi

Where did you get the Weihenstephaner Dunkel. I love their normal Weissbier.

    Cheers
    Alan

I am on the Chimay Blue (6 for 12 in Superquinn).
    Really, really good.

By the quietness of this thread, it seems to me that I'm not the only one off the beer for January (this is a first for me).
I'm still undecided as to whether I'll have a glass or two of wine at weekends.

Weirdly enough I was contemplating going a month without but realised I am in London again in 2 weeks so that aint going to happen.

Just getting over really bad flu I had since Stephens day, so looking forward to a couple of galway hookers on friday. I never give up stuff I love anyway, I just cut down on it if I feel the need.

Yeah, I've never done it before - I just kind of need to know I can.
Strange thing is, I had a pretty dry Christmas.
But I guess I'm dragging this thread off topic here!

Drinking a bottle of Old Tom here. Very nice, a bit of a departure from the usual English ale although a lot of that is down to the high alc volume (8.5%). It's more like a Belgian ale. Pretty smooth and initially sweetish with a bitter finish. I would buy it again.

Superquinn have a deal on at the moment during January, 6 world beers for 12 euro

I was in there today and when I asked exactly which beers were in the offer I was told everything only to be stung at the till for nearly 20 quid
In the sign they had up you could only really see chimay and summit else which I am not really interested in drinking ...so I've forgotten

Very much so Beer Revolution but the urge to match Man U V Liverpool got the better of me. Had some lovely pints of Galway Hooker in Ryans on Parkgate Street, Dublin. 4.20 a pint seemed good value to me also

Haven't been in Ryans for ages (about 6 months) but the last time I was there they served Hooker in 500ml glasses. The time I was there before that I asked for it in a regular pint glass and they gave it to me :)

I am just sitting down with a Schofferhofer (from Aldi) and I am most impressed.

I also noted that Tesco Finglas had Weihenstaphener, which I hadn't seen there before. A welcome addition.

Had a bottle of Prohibition Ale the other night (from San Francisco), lovely beer, really nice hoppy taste off it and it has really cool labelling too.

Got some of the Carlow Curim Wheat beer to try tonight after exams. :D

Had a McGrath's Irish Red last night. The McGraths's was quite nice. Nice caramel flavour with a bit of bitterness at the end

Holzar Bier 500ml swing-top bottle. Another Dunkel but much better than the others I tried recently.
Very dark red brown colour and a light malty taste with hints of caramel.
    Great smell also when poured.
Will go back to this beer again as it really is good quality.

Having some Leireken bier at the moment.

Had a Leireken Buckwheat Blonde earlier and having a Leireken White Spelt now. The Buckwheat Blonde was ok but I'm not a fan of the White Spelt, it's a bit to acidic and sweet.

Picked up some of the Porterhouse's beers today (Plain, Celebration stout, Hersbrucker and Brainblasta). The plain is seriously tasty, one I'll certainly go back to. Looking forward to the rest.
I also got a bottle of Affligem Blonde, and one of my favorites at the moment, Sierra Nevada's Pale Ale. A good beer week I think.
