Tried this for the first time last night, absolutely delicious stronger version of their stout, much more chocolatey and rich, have to say is one of the nicest stouts I ever tasted, A+, this and their IPA are world class, the best Irish brewers by a mile.
drinking a leann now. interesting stuff. for 6% its damn good, dont like beers more than 5% generally. nice for a change from the normal one

Gouden Carolus Christmas Ale x 2
    Fullers London Pride
    Fullers 1845
    Fullers 2008 Vintage (for keeping)
    Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale
    Sierra Nevada Tumbler Autumn Ale
    Sierra Nevada Pale Ale
    Weihenstephaner Hefeweisse Dunkel
    Franziskaner weisse
    Harveiston Old Engine oil
    Adnams Innovation
    O Hara's Irish Red
    Paulaner Salvator
    Chimay Blue
    Orval

Looking forward to it. Any suggestions on how long I should put the Fullers Vintage away for?

Was in Messers tonight and had a few Jul-ol (Christmas beer from White Gypsy). It was very nice but after a couple became very filling. I them switched to the Rusty Red which is a very nice smooth beer.

That's not right. Those beers shouldn't have cost you more than a tenner.
Had some cornish ipa last time I was in uk. It's tasty.

Just wandered into Drinkstore and asked if they had any. They had one 2008 and I think one or two of the 2009.

The only German beer I've tried that I didn't like! Rotten stuff. Sells exceptionally well though.

Got some beers as an xmas/birthday pressie, so wasn't responsible for the choice, but OH did very well. I'm planning on having one every evening:
    1) Speakeasy Prohibition - yum! Yesterday's treat.
    2) Samichlaus Classic - today's choice, me thinks.
    3) Delirium Tremens - Stephen's day.
    < a load of other beers I don't have with me>

The only dodgy choice in the list is this: Tactical Nuclear Penguin. While I really like the Brew-dog beers I've had previously, I'm not really sure what to do with this one. Maybe try and share it with as many people as possible. Save it for a Christmas party next week, and give everyone a shot?

Few bottles of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Singha, James Boags and Samuel Adams.

Limerick is crap for world beers.

Sierra Nevada Northern Hemisphere and O'haras stout.

    Both excellent.

Shame, Mac's on the Ennis road used to be really good for beer but it seems that after the demise of Eurobeers, they just didn't bother to source from elsewhere.
Weird, cause they clearly had a market.

Really enjoyed my second bottle of Samichlaus of the Christmas period, though at 14% it takes quite a while to get through it. Finished off with a bottle of Cotleigh's Reinbeer, which though quite tacky in its branding, I found quite tasty after the strength and complexity of the Samichlaus.

What I had over the last few days.

SIERRA NEVADA KELLERWEIS : Nice enough German type beer but I think I will stick to the real German beers as the Germans do it better and in bigger bottles !

WEIHENSTEPHANER DUNKEL : Not a bad dunkel and better then Erdingers IMO but not as good as the Augusteiner one I had a few weeks ago.

ST. BERNARDUS CHRISTMAS ALE : Spicy and fruity tatse anll wrapped up i none. Great after coming in from the cold and a very stong beer.

ANCHOR STEAM CHRISTMAS ALE : Now I had this beer after the St Bernardus Christmas ale and I wasnt sure about it. Got a strong ginger taste from this but after reading other reviews online it seems it best kept for a few years.
(note to self , must start a beer cellar for such beers)

Had a couple of bottles of Rudolph’s Reward which is a Christmas beer from Shepherd Neame and is available in Lidl.

It's nice enough and defiantly seems like a Shepards neame beer so if you like Bishops finger give it a try (or vice versa). I found it slightly spicy and fruity while still having some nice bitterness but I thought it was let down by not having much of a finish

I actually had the Rudolph's Reward I picked up before Xmas the day before yesterday.... Like Matrim, found it pleasant enough. Definitley a spicy element to it.

Also had an Autumn Blaze (Sheperd's Neame too). This poured extremely well and it was one of those occassions where if I'd been handed the pint and told it came from a cask I could have believed it. More bitter than the RR.

For seasonal beers I had low enough expectations but I'd buy the Autumn Blaze again.

Down to Waterford tomorrow morning, going to try and visit Dungarvan Brewing Co. if they're open at any stage over the weekend or on Monday (a longshot, I know).

Make sure you ring them first. They're not open to the public on a day-to-day basis. Breweries in Ireland generally aren't.

Yep, I noticed they asked to be rung in advance alright. Left a message and haven't heard back yet. I would suspect they probably shut down before Christmas and won't re-open till after the New Year, but oh well - next time.

Had the Shepard's Neame Rudolph's reward the last couple of nights - a lovely beer, tasty but light
