Had some blue point toasted lager in new york recently and really liked it.
Can you get it anywhere here?

You are a khaki coloured bombardier, it's Hiroshima that you're nearing.

Would they count Old Speckled Hen as fizzy burp water ?
It depends:) From the bottle, yes. A cask version does exist though, so that's safe.

Have a bottle of Adnam's Broadside ready for drinking. Anyone tried this?

Also have some Franziskaner in the fridge which will be consumed over the weekend.

Not the bottled version, but it's decent on draught.

Yesterday Sierra Nevada Porter on tap, Mad Goose, Bourbon County Brand stout ,Gonzo Imperial Porter and to finish Yeti Imperial Stout.

Have to say I really enjoyed them all and would advise anyone visiting Chelsea end of London to go to The White Horse on Parsons Green(thank you Beernut for that suggestion).

Picked up a Red Ale and Stout in Aldi today and plan to have them later. Someone recommended them here a while back so I've been keen to try them.

Just on the Devenneys website a few minutes ago and have to get down for some Santa's Butt Winter Porter. Doesn't matter what it tastes like with a name like that!!

Had a pint of Midnight Walk from the cask last night at a Weatherspoons in Glasgow... Also a bottle of Innis and Gunn blonde (dangerously drinkable at 6.0%).

Midnight Walk has quite an unpleasant aroma - smells slightly 'off' to me. That said, nice winter warmer.

I had been dying to taste the doppelbock Ayinger Celebrator for ages but I couldn't get it in Ireland so I had to make-do with Weltenburger Kloster. So I was in Budapest over the weekend and I noticed that there was one shop that sold the Celebrator. I tracked it down and bought a bottle which I dank in my hotel room that night. I wasn't disappointed. Beautiful it is. A dark, rich, full bodied beer with tangy notes of berries and caramel. I went back to the shop the next day and bought another 6 to take home with me.

It really was one of the few times I waited to try something and it turned out to be as good or even better than I imagined. I can't wait to open the next bottle.

It's my new favourite beer. Sorry Dogfishhead 90min. Perhaps I'll come back to you when the honeymoon period is over.

    dragon-stout-jamaica-beer.jpg

Spotted this in Tescos in the north (£1.29) and thought I'd give it a go. Assumed it was Welsh at first but it's actually Jamaican, brewed by Red Stripe. Mixed reviews of it online.

Got some Clothworthy Dobbin and Belfast Ale on standby if it's no good. :D

Had a bottle of M&S Cornish IPA last night and wasn't impressed with it.

I'm starting to think IPA \ Hoppy beers might not be for me. I wasn't a fan of the O'Hara's IPA either, and think there was another one or 2 I didn't particularly like
Can people recommend some of the better one's I can try to see if it's just the one's I tried or the type of beer?

BTW, for anyone who likes the M&S beers. In M&S in Jervis yesterday we picked up 6 bottles of beer and they had an offer of 6 for 5 and for some reason we got an extra 25% discount on top of that so was able to get the 6 beers for about 11 euro.

O'Hara's and M&S are two of the best there is, IMO. Maybe turn the volume up before you decide to switch off: try some Sierra Nevada Torpedo. If that doesn't work for you then you don't like hops.

Cheers, It's not that their bad beers they just don't seem to have that extra little thing for me.

I've been planing on making a big trip to Redmonds before Christmas so will try and pick up the torpedo when I'm there. Any others?

I tried the Kelpie seaweed ale last night, and was very happy with it. It's very porter-ish. Lovely flavour.

Lovely stuff and so easy to drink. Tom and the lads have outdone themselves on that one.

Was very surprised to be honest. Went onto OHaras IPA afterwards again another fine ale. 2 good tasting beers tonight.

Had a Helles Schlenkerla from the Bierhaus, Cork last night.

While I know it is not actually smoked, I was lead to believe that it had a subtle smokiness to it as a result of the smoky brewing equipment.
I detected no smokiness at all.
Just a well brewed German lager.
    Disappointing:(

I must try the smoky one again and see if it grows on me.

Anyone tried the 'Poachers Choice' from the Badger Brewery (Hall and Woodhouse) in Dorset?

I tried one last night. Still not sure what to make of it.

It's an English strong Ale, 5.7%; 500ml bottle.
Smells a bit like liquorice and cherries. Colour is ruby brown with off white head.
Quite sweet I thought, giving cherries at the end. Maybe a bit of a Belgium Kriek after taste.

Neither am I. Most of those flavoured Badger beers are awful. Poacher's Choice is the least-worst of them, IMO.
