I'm sure there are lots of homes on higher ground but regarding populated areas Roundwood in the Wicklow mts. is the highest village in Ireland, about 249m/780ft asl with a population of around 2000. We have our own Roundwoodian on the weather forum (can't think of his name, need more tea!)

Yep, thats me. I'm at 250M on the nose. Major regular 6ft snowdrift country!

On Driving home on the N7 to Newbridge from Dublin , I met a really heavy fog just before Junction 11,

When I reached the Curragh (j12) visibility was about 10mtrs, be careful if your heading that way.

Temp is getting low too as well 3.9c, Is the cold starting to dig in ?

Kerry is one of the mildest counties in Ireland so gets less snow at sea level but as much of Kerry is mountainous (including tallest mountain in the country included in this picture), altitudes above 800 feet would see as much snow as low lying areas in parts of Ulster. Kerry's main arteries to the rest of the country via Limerick and Cork involve crossing high altitudes (eg county bounds to Cork ) and can result in snow and ice being an issue for access during winter months
