He was obviously off his head and didn't know what he was doing. If you're not familiar with the show, it's the Cork Joe Duffy - auld biddy central. If there were kids there, I'm sure the damage to them won't be long-term. That's like a comment one of his listeners would make... :pac:

"Gardai to prepare file for DPP after they received a complaint from Aer Lingus about Neil Prendeville while on board a flight to Cork. #cork"

just saw this announcement! the gardaí are involved now, the complaint has been received by them.

Er, are you serious? Have you heard of the principle of "consent"? It's like asking what's the difference between sex and rape.

about time. They were under a lot of pressure . Nothing will be done about it though. He has his "connections".

Neil Prendeville’s solicitor Gerald Keane revealed yesterday that the woman sitting beside the presenter as he reportedly exposed himself before engaging in the sex act under partial cover of a magazine, is a journalist with the Examiner

Suddenly I'm a lot more cynical.

And also told him to stop.

Er, I think maybe you misunderstand my point. My point is it now looks _worse_ for him. If he had simply whipped the chap out in front of everyone in a way where he was bound to get caught, it would look like temporary madness, possible drink/drug mixing related, and would tie in with the fact he claims not to remember anything.

The fact he covered himself with a magazine makes it look more calculating.

    Lucky them.
I've gone through and removed some posts which were a bit overly nasty towards Mr whatever his name is what wanked on the plane. Obviously in the more general case than the specific case where he was, in this instance, caught fiddling with himself on a plane(Probably 6 or so in total). Try to remember that there is a line.
What I find strange is that there is suggestions there was a man to his left and a woman to his right. So he whipped it out in the middle seat. Why not just go to the bathroom for a rub n tug?

As the Mod explained to me, it seemed to get out of hand at times over there in that thread. I don't think he had any other option but to lock it. Pity really.

Hopefully it can remain civil here and we can discuss it .

Maybe he was afraid he would explode if there was a change in cabin pressure.

To be honest the more I hear the more sceptical I am that it happened as we were lead to believe. I'm almost thinking at this point he could have just been scratching/rearranging himself under a magazine (Al Bundy style) and its been taken the wrong way.

According to the article, while there was indeed a man to his left and a woman to his right, there were two air hostesses seated in front of him
As the jet taxied for take-off Mr Prendeville was seen to expose himself and masturbate as he sat in his seat. Mr Prendeville was seated in the front row of the aircraft facing two air hostesses. He was flanked by a female passenger to his right in a window seat and a male passenger to his left in an aisle seat.

Perhaps 'de Nurofen' blocked him storing a mental image of these two doubtless lovely girls for the suggested trip to the facilities.....

This has the potential to cost nurofen millions (although it may increase sales among certain demographics :) ). Considering memory loss and increased libido are not mentioned as side effects i would imagine we will hear some statement from them. There is a half a story in the Irish examiner today with no direct quotes bar whats on the leaflet

Worth noting that the woman passenger sitting next to him was actually a journalist for the Irish Examiner, which no doubt explains the level of detail they have given.....

He has to be VERY careful what he says about the product. Nurofen will be looking into these allegations by him. They are very serious.

I'd imagine volunteer 'researchers' were trying out the mix as early as last night.

The bit about the magazine or the scratching? The magazine was mentioned on the Irish Independent http://www.independent.ie/national-news/aer-lingus-did-not-notify-gardai-of-djs-lewd-act-on-flight-2406929.html but the scratching is just pure conjecture on my part.

To be honest thats what makes me even more sceptical as it just seems too perfect. Add to that the fact it only got printed after 2 weeks despite there supposedly being multiple other witnesses even ignoring the reporter? I find it hard to believe they were waiting for an official complaint from aer lingus since they had a minimum of 3 eye witnesses and could have used the word “alleged” plenty of times. It wouldnt surprise me if the next thing we hear is that the other witnesses simply say the reporter sitting next to him claimed a drunk man was acting inappropriately and thats the extent of the report.

Now maybe I'm completely wrong but thats just how it feels to me at the moment. At least if nothing else, the coming weeks will be interesting as this develops.

Lets not lose sight of where this story is at the moment lads....

Whilst I would fully support whatever action the Gardai take 'if' the allegations are upheld & lets not forget, no matter how compelling the evidence we read in the newspaper; these are still only allegations & still subject to Garda investigation.

Some of the comments on here are valid, but others purile, with some in my opinion bordering on libellous.....if charges are dropped, this thread could make very interesting reading for his lawyers.

Every story has a human factor - like him or loathe him, this guy has a family with kids at school - lets not crucify him based on a newspaper article when the Gardai investigation hasn't even started.

I believe it is now being investigated by Gardai. The reason it took so long to publish the article is due to legal reasons. I think the examiner wanted to make sure a complaint was made first. Can you blame them?

I don't think the examiner and all the national papers and Aer Lingus would be making it up now would they? It would be highly defamatory.

He is such a self-righteous git on his radio show, there is no way that he will be able to climb back up on that high horse of his after this. Career over.

Will he be ringing in his own show now?
Sure ive never know how half of our broadcasters were ever on their high horses. Look at Joe duffy for example, giving out about lectures being on 100+k a year for a couple hours a week. Lecturers have to do a lot of work besides just turning up at the lecture hall. And hes on 400+k a year and has a huge team working for him.

    Grrrrrrrrr
    Rant over....
