I used Hydroxycut before and I got pretty much the same jitteriness and energy you described. How are you finding it for appetite suppression?

I found that the latter diminished pretty fast and I got used to the jitteriness. It started messy with my sleep patterns though and that píssed me off something rotten, most stimulants tend to do that to me though.

I'll be interested to see how long you feel the effects of it for.

Can't say I've noticed anything on the appetite suppression front, but I don't really get hungry unless I start to go outside of 3-4 hours without food, and at that stage I'm liable to eat anything. The biggest challenge for me when dieting is just getting the food in every 3 hours. Once I do that I won't cheat.

As for jitteriness, can't say I even noticed it on my second serving last night. I was fairly focused on my walk, but wasn't amped. I seem to have a weird relationship with stims. When I WANT them to get me pumped I just need to put on some fast music, bounce around a bit and they'll amp me up something fierce, but if I don't want to go crazy off them I can relax and focus and they just intensify that.

I'm gonna finish out the jar anyway and see how I feel about them after that. 3 week supply so that'll be the experimentation period!!

    <<I can't quite comprehend...>>

    Foam Roll - 8 positions

    HS Leg Extenstion:
    40kg x10
    60kg x10
80kg x10 - this is the gayest exercise ever and I'm not doing it again.

    HS Leg Press:
    120kg x5
    160kg x5
    180kg x13-8-5rp
    140kg x20

    Standing Single Leg Curl:
    plate 12 x8
    plate 20 x8
    plate 30 3x8

Strict Barbell Curl (back against wall):
    40kg x14-5-4rp

    Incline Dumbbell Curl:
    20kg 'bells x8, x7

    Seated Dumbbell Curl:
    20kg 2x10

    Seated Dumbbell Powerclean:
    10kg 'bells 3x10

Felt nauses as fcuk all thru the session. Blaming it on the Hydroxycut and the hard work on the leg presses.

Leg extenstions are basically the gym equivalent of sucking cock. It's ok if you're a girl, but any self respecting guy deserves a swift slap upside the head for doing it.

HS leg press was good. Nice improvement on last week. Weight and reps like. Gonna add 10kg again next week. The 20 repper was grand too. Reps were touch and go.

The single leg curls are improving. Moving them up as fast as possible and slowing the eccentric. I'll try for 10's next week.

The strict curls were nice. Could really feel my biceps working. Serious drop off in reps, but I assume that's because it's such a small muscle group. I think I'll go to 42.5kg next week.

Same weight for the dumbbell curl stuff cos the reps are too low for my liking there.

The seated dumbbell powercleans were tough enough. It's all about the upper back volume tho.

Today's shaping up to be 2,500kcals in the form of 47% protein, 22% carbs and 31% fat.

Gonna pop some hydroxycut now and go for a walk at 4.30.

I presume you're on restricted calories right now compared to usual and restricted carbs too maybe? Do you know what you'd normally be taking in?
Was just reading with huge interest today about people going for ketosis with their diet. I guess 22% carbs wouldn't quite make that happen but very interested to see how it goes for you, best o' luck anyway!

Yes to restricted kcals and carbs. Tbh I don't track what I normally take in. It's my biggest failing. The only time I do it is when I'm dieting. I may make the effort to keep track going forward tho.

This whole log is a journey up and down in weight. I was 88kg when it all started back in May 2007. I got up as high as 111kg in April 2009 and have been trending downward since. I'd nearly like to end up back at 88kg just to see what my lifts now compare to when the log was started!!

    <<I hope you don't mind...>>

Foam Roll w/ pipe - Legs and upper back

    Smolov Press - Week 2, Day 3:
    40kg x5
    60kg x3
    72.5kg 7x5

    Skull Crushers:
    45kg 5x10

    Dips:
    bodyweight x20-11-8rp

Cable Row (middle machine, mid grip parallel handle):
    plate 50 x10
    plate 67 5x10

    Seated Dumbbell Powerclean:
    12.5kg 'bells 3x6

Feeling a bit drained now at this stage. I think the low carb approach is starting to effect me. I don't really mind it too mcuh, I just need to be that bit mentally stronger to get thru sessions. I'll be loading tomorrow to make sure deadlifts on Friday go well. Will stay under 2,500kcal but probably aim to go up around 300g of carbs.

Pressing was fine. Not easy, but not utterly impossible either. 2.5kg next week better be ok!!

Skulls were grand. +2.5kg next week. It's looking like 50kg for 10's will go now.

Dips were burn-tastic. Bit of a longer rest on the first rest pause set so that may have skewed things somewhat.

Rows were good, I'll go to 12's next week with them for the 5 sets.

Heavier set of seated dumbbell powercleans today cos I've been going light and for high reps on them recently. Just gonna keep a good mix on them I think.

Haven't decided if I'll go for a walk tonight or not, might just chillax instead.

Also, rolling with the pipe. FML.

Just back from a 4.5 mile walk - took 65 minutes.

    3rd > 4 mile walk this week.

    Gonna stretch and roll now.

    <<It'sa raining...>>

    Smolov Press - Week 2, Day 4:
    40kg x3
    55kg x2
    65kg x1
    77.5kg 10x3

    Chest Supported Rows:
    plate 90 5x10

    Chest Supported Bent Over Raises:
    10kg 'bells 5x8

    Diesel Crew Shoulder Warm Up:
    2kg 'bells x5 per position

    Preacher Curls:
    42.5kg x10-5-3rp

    DC Curls:
    plate 20-45 x12 (6 sets)

Grand oul workout. The pressing was ok. Boring as sh!t, but I got thru. 80kg 10x3 will go ok next week and then onto a > bodyweight press the week after :D

CS rows were cool, I'll go to 12's next week I think. And the CS lateral raises were ok too, a bit heavy if anything. My right shoulder's been feeling a bit wonky recently and it was really emphasised during these. It just didn't feel "right", hence the run thru on the scap stability stuff.

Gunzzz were grand. Bit disappointed with the preacher numbers. Will stick with them next week.

DC curls were way light but I was tryna establish a baseline and not be too fcuked going into deadlifts tomorrow.

Should really roll on my pipe now, but I'm too scared :/

    <<DUCKS FLY TOGETHER>>

    Rolling - Legs and arms

Deadlifts (beltless) - Coan- Phillipi Week 5:
    60kg 2x5
    100kg x2
    140kg x2
    180kg x1
    205kg x3

    "Speed" Pulls:
    170kg 3x3

    Clean Pulls:
    145kg 3x5

    SLDL:
    160kg 3x5

    Bent Over Row:
    100kg 3x5

    Kneeling Pulldowns:
    worked up to 90 x5

    Good Mornings (paused):
    60kg x5
    95kg 3x5

    CrossTrainer:
    Level 14 - 20 minutes

What a suck-fest. My body feels carbless.

The DL's were alright. Gripped the bar weird on the 205 and didn't pull strongly as a result. 170's were a lot better.

The clean pulls were really fcuking hard. MUCH harder than just power shrugging or deadlifting. Someone said somewhere recently that the power shrugs in CP were meant to be like an explosive DL with a shrug at the top, so I ran with that theory this week. Definitely better for me than just power shrugging with that weight.

SLDL's were ok, +5kg next week.

BO Rows were easy, should go +5/7.5kg next week.

Pulldowns I'll try to get 3x5 with 90, it was hard cos the weight was lifting me up cos it's basically bodyweight.

The paused GM's are sick. I've said it before but they're a total ab buster. I'll go +5kg next week.

20 minutes on the crosstrainer cos I'll be strapped for time later. Gonna get a 40 minute walk in only.

Also gonna try to figure out how to squeeze a small popcorn in and stay under 2,200kcals cos I'm going to the cinema later. Anyone know how many kcals in one?!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,165 ✭✭✭✭brianthebard

Do you pause the gm's on the pins or just hold the bottom position? how long? sounds like a good twist on the lift.

don't the do the popcorn man! There's a crazy amount of calories for something that feels like air.

Clean pulls sound like a good idea. I didnt feel like i was getting much from the power shrugs, i was thinking about doing some light(er) speed pulls instead. In the end i did them on an axle bar so at least i was working my grip..

I dunno... 1 second maybe? Not for long at all. Just pausing with the bar on my back, not resting on pins.

Seemed to be a lot of hamstring recruitment from doing them anyway!!

Wish I'd a fat bar to play with :(

    <<Drop it like it's hot....>>

Foam Roll - Legs, upper back, arms

    Kroc Rows:
    30kg x10
    40kg x10
    50kg x15-6-4rp

    Double Overhand Shrugs:
    100kg x10
    120kg x10
    140kg x15-8-5rp

    Seated Dumbbell Powerclean:
    10kg 'bells 3x12

    One Arm Scap Raise:
    baby 'bells 3x5

Nothing wild, just some hard and heavy upper back work. Not happy with grip strength at all so it was a hybrid sesion really. Grip's pissing me off big time. Gonna keep pushing with it.

As soon as CP's over I'll go back to speed pulls from the floor and rack pulls and that should help it along too.

I'm off to Hercs now. Anyone who makes the trip - I'll be the guy with the gunzz wrapping knees :p

    <<Furry Walls...>>

    Smolov Press - Week 3, Day 1:
    40kg x5
    55kg x3
    67.5kg 4x9

    Rolling Dumbbell Extensions:
    22.5kg 'bells 3x10

    Pushdowns:
    crossover stack x10-6-5rp

    Pushdowns (splitting rope):
    plate 40 x20

    Diesel Crew Shoulder Warm Up:
    5kg 'bells - 3 movements per position x2

    One Arm Scap Raise:
    2.5kg 2x5

    Cardio:
    10 minutes each on...
    -Crosstrainer
    -Treadmill (walking on incline)
    -C2 Rower
    -Bike

    Then:
    21-18-15-12-9-6-3
    Hypers
    Hyper sit ups
    push ups
    TIME: 12 minutes approx.

    Then:
    10 minutes incline treadmill walking

Looooooooong day. Trained on about 1,400kcals and 12 hours of being on the go. Suckage.

Today's presses no longer matter. They're done. Last set was hard.

Forget dumbbell floor presses but that was good cos I was fcuked anyway. The rolling extensions were tough. Gonna stick on all weights for tricep work next week and try to increase reps.

More scap work... hoping to drag them around soon.

Cardio was actually ok. Splitting it into blocks was a great shout. Didn't record any stats, but I rowed over 2.3k, ended up on 9.0 incline each time on the treadmill, the metcon was rough.

    Happy with my performance today.

    <<Don't start no sh!t, there won't be no sh!t...>>

    Foam Roll - Legs

    Squat (beltless):
    60kg 2x5
    100kg x3
    140kg x2
    150kg x1
    160kg x1
    170kg x1
    180kg x1
    150kg 2x3
    130kg x5, x10

Double Overhand Barbell Hold (w/ thinner bar):
    100kg x10 count
    130kg x10 count
    160kg x30 count
    170kg x20 count
    180kg x10 count
    160kg x30 count

    EZ Bar Hub Lift:
    Bar +10kg 5 x10 count

    Strict BB Curl (against wall):
    40kg x15-6-5rp

    Incline Dumbbell Curls:
    20kg 'bells 2x8

    Concentration Curls:
    15kg 'bell 2x12

    Seated Dumbbell Powerclean:
    12.5kg 'bells 5x8

    Cardio...

    10 minutes each on;
    -Crosstrainer
    -Incline treadmill walk
    -C2
    -Bike
    -Crosstrainer
    -Incline treadmill walk

    Total kcals per machines: 650

    Longest...session...ev-er!!

Poor showing on the squats. I'd look back over my log but I'm not arsed, I'd say you could count the amount of times I've squatted in the last 3 months on 1 hand. I should probably rectify that. I'm gonna try and get 3 more session in before the CF total comp on Saturday week and add 5kg to each of the weights listed above.

Grip work was solid enough today. I'll add 5/10kg to those weighs next week if I can get that bar, if not I'll just do 150 x30 count on the thicker one. I reckon maximal thumb strength's more important than endurance strength so will move up in weight next week.

Gunzzz were good. Pretty sure I beat last week on the strict curls and the incliners. I'll move up 2.5kg on the former and stay with the latter weight wise. Concentration curls were grand... probs stay there next week and go for 15 reps.

Seated dumbbell PC's cos L reckons I need MOAR traps. And I agree.

Cardio was good... I very much doubt that's an accurate reading of kcals burned, but whatever. I got the hour in and it was more interesting than just walking. More tiring too tho. Hope I recover ok from it all. Will do the same tomorrow probs, take a handy 1 hour walk on Thursday cos I wanna be relatively fresh to DL on Friday.

    <<T-Parker is my motherf*cking drummer...>>

    Smolov Press - Week 3, Day 2:
    40kg x3
    60kg x3
    72.5kg 3x7, 1x5+2pp, 1x7pp

    Skull Crushers:
    47.5kg 3x10

    Dips:
    bodyweight x23-13-10rp

Seated Cable Row (w/ mid grip parallel handle on middle machine):
    plate 67.5 3x12

    Diesel Crew Shoulder Warm Up:
    5kg 'bells 2x3

    One Arm Scap Raises:
    3kg 'bell 2x6

    Cardio:
    20 minutes each on;
    -crosstrainer
    -incline treadmill walk
    -bike

Solid session, energy levels low tho.

I knew from 40kg that the pressing was gonna be tough. Got thru 3 sets ok and died on the 4th. Pp = push press. Disappointed, but I've definitely made progress. Shoulders were probably a bit fatigued from squatting yesterday too.

Skull crusher volume down by two sets cos of fatigue. I'm tapering back a bit on everything to make sure I'm recovering ok. I'll go to 50kg next week and try to get at least 2x10. The last set was a push today.

Dips were solid. Wouldn't mind a straight set of 30. Might be capable of it fresh.

Row volume down for the same reason as the skull crushers. I'll move up a plate next week and go 3x10.

Scap stuff in preparation of a big bench cycle.

Cardio was grand today.... I stayed on the bike for a while longer than I planned to try and get some blood into my legs and loosen them up cos they were quite stiff.
