Planet - x seems to be the road/cx bike of choice for the boards community.

    Why so?

    They used to be cheap.

It's carbon, it's light, it has no issues and they were good value. I 've seen people saying that it's flexy under heavy wattage, but I 've yet to see any proper analysis on the subject, so I don't take it in account.

well those that have seen me, know I'm of the larger body type, I have a PX and have absolutely no problems with it whatsoever, It's light, very responsive, and has great handling, actually feels very safe on fast descents

That's it in a nutshell, for a while you couldn't get similar kit at a price anywhere near what they were asking. I got a titanium w/ Ultegra for £1650, their only titanium on sale now is £2600. They had their carbon bike on sale for £800 for a while too, it's now £1000. Same with the time trial bike, they had it for a grand and now it's £1400.

Since the prices rose, their days as the recommendation of choice are done I think :)

    They're bulletproof.
    Excellent value.
    And most importantly aesthetically pleasing!

If we could afford it we would all buy a Cervelo, believe me.

I haven't seen any proper reasoning of why you think PlanetX is not a good frame for the money though.

I don't think it raises emotions, I mean I won't get offended if someone doesn't like my bike/my car/my house/my hair etc etc.. but it's another thing to make statements without sufficient data to support them, in this case probably scientific; and while you are at it take in account how much it costs.

Because the weight is the more important thing?
What about handling and power transfer?

Person A says they ride well, descend well, doesn't flex.
Person B says the ride like a pig, descent like a bus and flexes like a flexy thing.

Surely either both or neither should provide this "scientific" data to support their claims?
