They're a western nation and probably the country we can most identify with after Britain
"Identify with... Britain?" Surely you jest after centuries of forced occupation of our island?

yes because it's the americans committing genocide in palestine, and yes i would rather not be wiped out now that you mention it

The US is indirectly committing genocide in Palestine, it's not just Palestine either they wouldn't think twice of wiping out you and your whole town if there was some financial or strategic gain. They don't value the lives of their own citizens so why yours?

This is the best example of US sponsored genocide, Suharto in Indonesia

    Nothing strange about that Robrti.

Have a wee think about it...

He would prefer it if the US would prevent Israel from committing racially motivated murder against Palestinian Moslems and Christians.

He would also prefer it if the US wouldn't drop bombs on civilians to effect regime change in soverign states with wanton destruction of vital civilian infrastructure and deaths of untold amounts of civilians, all for the purpose of raping the country for all its natural wealth and imposing a puppet regime agreeable to their own sociopolitical-economic and criminal agenda.

Apart from language, watching tv shows, their music, fashion trends and the ability/willingness of tens of thousands of irish people to emigrate there you're right there is nothing similar.

    Some current war drum sounds.........

World leaders concerned as U.S., Israel threaten Iran
    http://www.workers.org/2010/world/iran_0715/
“I don’t doubt in the least that as soon as the U.S. and Israeli warships occupy their positions — along with the rest of the U.S. military ships located near the Iranian coastline — and try to inspect the first merchant ship from that country, a shower of missiles will be set off in all directions. It will be the exact moment in which the terrible war will begin. It’s impossible to predict how many ships will sink, nor under which flag.” (Reflections, June 27)

Who wrote "When Prophecies Fail?" Leon Festinger, Henry Riecken, and Stanley Schachter? Decontextualize from original UFO topic and apply to this American attack on Iran "within days" topic?

Another vein. Decontextualize from UFOs to whatever? Think 2012 Mayan prophecy. What happens if no apocalypse? What do former believers say? Do they disappear? Or come with excuses? Revisionist history argument? Remember Y2K? I'm still breathing! You?

It's quite possible Cinful, I think, this thread has little to do with ufos and everything to do with a bunch of power-hungry homicidal scumbags getting ready to slaughter millions of innocent people AND as the op suggests, the key word here is 'ready' and they do appear to be ready and getting readier, and readier by the day

I was comparing by analogies. Not speaking literally. Gareth Morgan in Images of Organizations demonstrates how metaphors and analogies facilitate thinking by comparison. Attempting to follow suit comparing past failed prophecies with current American-Iran CT thread.
the key word here is 'ready' and they do appear to be ready and getting readier, and readier by the day
There's no massive American mobilization for Iran. Air strikes without boots on the ground fails. 150,000 troops minimum, perhaps 200,000 for another Shock and Awe. We would feel it here, being only 20 miles north of Camp Pendleton. It's not happening. The US military is exhausted after 2 endless Middle Eastern wars. Maybe a little chest thumping? America has been chest thumping since Teddy's Great White Fleet. Obama wants reelection. A third war will be a loser for him in 2012.

Why don't you compare it to the illegal invasion of Iraq instead? It is still ongoing as it happens. All the same moves are being played out now as we speak. The same lying ****ers in the corporate press, the WMD in Iraq crew are prepping the herd with the same bull**** lies and propoganda.

Ah, gotcha ... I think? So you reckon in 2012, Obomber gets re-elected and then they'll kick off Armageddon to fulfil the prophecies ... ?

I suppose that would keep all the religio fvck-nuts happy, true.

There does appear to be some kinda script to all this perhaps, I mean that whole Armageddon bollox has been programmed/rammed into us for a couple of millennia now. I'm sure they'd be thinking it would be an awful waste not to use it somehow, and especially with everything seemingly tying-in with the end of the Mayan calendar in 2012 - according to Hollywood, leastways.

Hate to pop your bubble, but "All the same moves are (not) being played out" as before when America was building up for the 2nd Gulf War invasion of Iraq. There is no massive mobilization at Camp Pendleton in Southern California immediately south of us, where the US Marine Corps has 200 square miles of base used to prep the tens-of-thousands of leathernecks for invasion, as Cinful (my boatmate) observed in an earlier post. The Marines would lead the wave of invasion from the sea and coastal air into Iran, and our nearby beach cities would be filled with them when on weekend leaves. As she says, this is not happening. Not only have I not seen a military uniform "within days," rather I have not seen one in weeks.

I was just barely a teen in Ireland and not in the States during the months of military buildup for Iraq II, but from what I hear in our local coffeehouses from the old timers, the Pacific Ocean was filled with US Navy ships and aircraft that you could see immediately off the Southern California coast on fleet manoeuvers, and they simulated attacks on Camp Pendleton for months (not days) before the invasion of Iraq. The only boats we've seen off our coast are with sails (or fishing boats with poles ). As Cinful says, it's not happening!

If there is a conspiracy theory about America going to war against Iran "within days," it's being falsely reported by the news media (that you are reading...) to generate advertising money. The media probably needs copy and story lines to sell newspapers, red tops, and air time to profit from increased advertising income. Come to think of it, there has been very little news about Iran in the California and national network news media (ABC, CBS, NBC, etc.). More air time and column inches "within days" has been dedicated to Mel Gibson's latest racial/sexist/ex-gf scandal, the new Big Brother season, Russian spies caught, Angelina Jolie's SALT, the Sleeper Suspect, BP oil spill natural disaster, and stupid teens biting each other after watching too many Twilight vampire films.

Once again, have fun with this CT thread, but like Cinful said, it's not happening for real “within days,” or months, and certainly not before the November 2010 midterm elections or the November 2012 presidential elections. And knowing her, she was joking about the Mayan 2012 apocalypse, which neither of us believe in the slightest (except for the craic).
Ah, gotcha ... I think? So you reckon in 2012, Obomber gets re-elected and then they'll kick off Armageddon to fulfil the prophecies ... ?
No, neither Cinful or I believe in such nonsense, but perhaps someone should start a "new and improved" CT thread to play with the idea, just for fun?

Hate to pop your bubble, but "All the same moves are (not) being played out" as before when America was building up for the 2nd Gulf War invasion of Iraq.

With all due respect that is not entirely accurate.

The UNSC imposed a fourth round of sanctions against Iran in May of this year. Last month the US imposed its own unilateral sanctions against Iran which were subsequently signed into law on the first of July. Sound familiar?

With these sanctions the US and its bloodthirsty stooges (British, French & Germans) appear to have started preparing the ground to destroy Iran in the same way they crippled Iraq with sanction after sanction which was then followed by a US led invasion in 2003 when the country was weak and on its knees.

It is worth recalling the devastating impacts of UN sanctions on Iraq which virtually destroyed the Iraqi people as a nation. By the end of the Clinton administration in 1999, his war against the Iraqi people resulted in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people, cleaned out Iraq of more than US$140 billion in oil revenue and saddled the country with hyper-inflation.
This inevitably resulted in mass poverty, deprived millions of families of food for young children or nutritional supplements necessary for treatment of malnourishment and caused social and economic dislocation which resulted in an intolerable rate of unemployment as high as seventy percent.
A study by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) found that between 1991 and 1998, there were 500,000 deaths above the anticipated rate among Iraqi children fewer than five years of age.

This was the scale of the suffering as a result of those sanctions and yet former US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright said in an interview with CBS in May 1996, that the “death of more than half a million children was worth the price” Kunt. That is the mindset of US neo-con politicians.

To protest against the effects of the embargo on the civilian population the UN Humanitarian Coordinator in Iraq Denis Halliday described sanctions as a form of ‘genocide’ on the people of Iraq and resigned from his job in 1998, after 34 years with the UN. He wrote, “Because the policy of economic sanctions is totally bankrupt, we are in the process of destroying an entire society. It is as simple as that. Five thousand children are dying every month...I don’t want to administer a program that results in figures like these”.

These same sanctions are now being targeted against Iran. They are a form of war in themselves.

There are many more tangents at play here than just not seeing a “military uniform” or whatever. All the signs would appear to lead towards some sort of confrontation with Iran although the exact date for this to happen is anybodies guess. Maybe you should take a more in depth look into the situation, one that doesn’t just involve superficial glances towards the sea you’ll be surprised what you find.

A news story from last monday building the fear factor.
In this case they are profiling a person of pakistani american decent from what he said.
Check out this map of Iran.
The Americans at the least have access through Iraq and Afghanistan.
Maybe Pakistan is another possible target.Although from what ive seen they appear to be a big power and probably Iran would be easier to get to first.
Also its interesting how Osama bin laden was "spotted" in the north east of Iran iirc.
Is Turkmenistan a significant country in all this?

On three occasions since early March, windows and doors have mysteriously rattled across Orange County. It might happen again Wednesday and Thursday. Only this time, the source of the shaking won’t lead to a guessing game.

Camp Pendleton says in a news advisory that, “F-18s will be dropping up to 500 pounds of high explosive munitions into the Whiskey and Zulu impact areas. Impacts will begin at noon and end at 5 p.m. each day. There also will be mortar live firing of high explosive munitions … Thursday from 6 a.m. until 11:59 P.M.

“Depending on atmospheric conditions, the sound of the explosions may be amplified and heard up to 50 miles away.”

Some more from a military wives forum, which also shows how ****ing ignorant and brainwashed Americans have become.

    dailyfood …
Camp Pendleton has been practice bombing daily for about two weeks now...since my son is deployed it reminds me that they really are in harms way and that they are very brave men and women.

Even tough sometimes they rattle the windows, I consider it the sound of freedom and I am glad they have a place to train and a nice beach to play on before they go off to defend our country and show our strength!
    Posted on 06/18/09, 11:08 pm

    lovemyde …
quoteL.gif My husband is stationed at CP, and I love listening to the sounds of the bomb and artillery testing. I find it very soothing to listen to, and just like you said, it's the sound of freedom. Of course, anything short of a jet engine will be soothing to me, since I grew up on damn near every NAS on the west coast. quoteR.gif

Makes me want to chew off my own hand. And here is another example of activity in Camp Pendleton in the last year.

    Turkmenistan are officially neutral.
