That could be the methanol in tequila, it can make people prone to blackouts, and cause wicked hangovers. So if you want the same effect with vodka nip down to woodies and pour a little drop of meths in your drink. Cider, red wine and cheap whiskey or vodka can be high in methanol too.

The cleanest/purest vodka you will get with ease is Skyy vodka, who pride themselves on being so pure, they are not even really distillers/brewers more like chemists who developed a hangover free spirit.

If your holiday celebration includes tequila, you may be interested to know the American Chemical Society (ACS) has released findings that some tequila contains methanol, 2-methyl-1-butanol and 2-phenylethanol. In case you're wondering... no, these are not good and desirable chemicals to drink. The 'alcohol' in alcoholic beverages is ethyl alcohol or ethanol (grain alcohol). Methanol (wood alcohol) and other alcohols are the types said to make you go blind and otherwise cause permanent neurological damage, not to mention giving you a nasty hangover. The ACS purposely timed the release of the results to coincide with Cinco de Mayo, to raise awareness of the quality control issue. Tequila made from 100% blue agave tended to have higher levels of the undesirable chemicals than other types of tequila (pure agave tequila is usually considered superior)

Omg I've always considered tequila a guaranteed blackout drink but didn't think there was scientific evidence behind it. cheers.

    I used to distil myself!

This was my baby, outputted hangover free 95% rum/vodka

The actual test to see if your still is working right is the lack of hangover, some lads sent off commercial spirits to test labs against their own poorest stuff and the homemade stuff came testing much purer. I reckon they have high acceptable limits for methanol in spirits even though with a little care it could be much purer. Also skyy sort of keep quiet about the hangover free bit in their advertising as I expect it might be seen as promoting excess drinking.

The thing about hangovers is that the ethanol is oxidised into ethanal in the liver and that chemical is what causes the typical hangover type symptoms.

Yeah there is, there's just no such thing as a hangover free 5 or 6 drinks.

In my youth I drank nothing but Smirnoff blue labelled Vodka. Could drink up to 15 in a night and never had a hangover.

The only times (2) I suffered a hangover, I was given Gin at a house party as there was no vodka available :( Jesus, Mary and the Carpenter did I suffer then.

Thankfully I seen sense around my 20th birthday and gave it up. That was 27 years ago now :)

Yes there is... I've done it plenty of times before.

Hell I want as far as 12 the night before the last CF invitational I did and woke up feeling 100% thanks to the 5l of water I consumed during the night!

EDIT: And whoever asked about my squat - best competition lift = 310kg. Was good for 320kg+ tho.

would have to agree with Hanley there.
I was at a wedding there last Saturday and id safely say i put away a case of Corona throughout the day, night and early morning and had no hangover

    Hydration is key.
every three pints of beer you drink, you lose about a pint of water.
the main reason for the headache associated with a hangover is dehydration.

reasonably pure booze + decent hydration maintainance + a decent sleep = morning freshness.

So would this be the reason some drinks give you a worse hangover than others, for example. I can't really drink Guinness anymore as I've started to get very bad hangovers from it.
Whereas I don't seem to get a hangover if I drink Jagermeister.

are you exaggerating or did you actually drink 5litres of water in a night? Isn't it dangerous to drink that amount in a short period of time? how much water would you drink in a normal day?

Slightly more probably, 10 pints between about 8pm and 12.30am.

When I'm loading water before comps to cut weight, 7 litres per day isn't unusual at all.
