lol, now for the important question. As my "husband"!!!! is working a 24 hour shift that day, I have a free pass. Are there drinks planned or anything? For people familiar with the Runner's World socials, something similar?

Have to say i prefer the bottles for drinking out of, as can get more out of it than whats in the cup

Mainly because you can carry the drink a bit further especially the isotonic drinks.

Cant drink out of the cups at all, no matter how many times i try

There are many drinks planned. Many, many drinks. We're waiting for someone to step up to the plate and decide where though. :)

I got this map sent on to me of the Great Limerick Marathon route. I don't have any more details I'm afraid. Just through it up on my webserver so you could have a look.

    That route is a killer!

You'll be passing quite very, very close to the finish line at ~21.5 miles.
Just when the body will want to shut down and you can hear the roar of the crowd at the finish line, you'll have to head out to Thomond Park for another 5 mile jaunt !

If the body wants to shut down after just 21.5 miles, you haven't been training hard enough!

lol, I hate the lap of trinity college at the end of Dublin, not sure what I'm going to think on this one.

But that's the triumphant victory march section of the race, when you get to swagger like a conquering hero (though not really out of choice!). Are you just running this one 'for fun', or are you going to target a particular time?

Pubs in town will probably be busy as the Munster game is on in the afternoon. I'll be heading for the Curragower on the strand just down from the Treaty Stone (heading towards the Strand Hotel). Another good spot is The Locke just around the corner from Arthurs Quay but that might be very busy. Nancy Blakes is also good, as is Tom Collins's, Flannerys, Myles Breens, Souths, etc (and you think you've got issues :)).

    Any other suggestions?

    <cough cough> Curragower <cough> Mile 22.5

So it's the Donkey Ford's chipper at 12.5 miles for a bag of chips, followed by the Curragower at mile 22.5 for a sneaky pint? This is sounding more and more like the Marathon du Médoc. Last one in buys the first round?

Be easier for one of our Limerick natives to pick one. That's what I've been waiting for anyway. :pac:

I haven't been out on the road since Sunday. From the neck up I'm fecked:(

Sore throat/ears/head. I have a cocktail of drugs in me, so If I don't go sub 2hr 15min this Sunday I never will!!!

I struggled through work MOnday and Tuesday and stayed at home feeling sorry for myself today.

The sore throat is nearly gone, sometimes I feel good then a few min later I feel bit weak and light headed.

I hope to get out tomorrow and friday

I might do my first run in the morning :D

    Dear Hunnymonster,

As you are considering running a marathon ... I think taking your first run in the morning is a jolly splendid idea ... ;)

Dont forget to warm up though ... tee hee ... whats that you say "oh the run is your warm-up ... right so"

Sleep on it ... Im sure they would love 801 runners instead of just 800.

    :D

    Dear Baza,

Since you are not fecked from the neck down I dont see any reason you can possibly run a lightening fast race. Last I say you dont run on your hands so dont worry about bodily fluids flowing out... ha ha

Get well soon, dont go to work ... it gets in the way of marathon training / rest. Rather just stay safely in bed.

    Ciao

    Hi Krusty.
I will join you and hopefully stay with you to the end. Did Paris 3 weeks ago in 3:13:11 so not sure if my reserves are ready yet but I will give it a go.
Now that the earlier negitivity (you know who you are) has turned to positive vibes, my spirits have also risen. Bring it on I say.
    Jim
