Can anyone tell me are there any opportunities to use a psychology degree within either the PSNI or the Garda Siochana, I can't seem to find any information on it at all online? or if you know of another thread you can direct me to that would be a better place to post??

    Any help would be great.

I assume there could be a use found for it, but at present there is a recruitment embargo so AGS arent recruiting so you ll just have to pull up a chair

Adult cautions are not disclosed in Garda vetting reports and police certificates of character.however the gardai will have a record, as long as you keep out of trouble in the meantime, you might as well go for it. was it public order or something? was it your local super you met? cos you will have to meet him as part of the recruitment process again.

Thanks for the help! Yeah it was a stupid public order incident, my own fault but once arrested i was copertive and apologetic, noted by the Garda in his report. Yes again it was my local super(while local as long a sim in college) whom i met, he too noted my coperation and sincere apology . I can't enviasage getting in trouble again as i have since given up the drink:D the cause of too many problems!ha

Ha if only we knew. There is currently an embargo in the public sector which is suppose to be under review at the end of the year. So i very much doubt it. Are you waiting in the system or are you waiting to apply?

I presume you mean you registered your interest in June 2008 with publicjobs. did you re-register in November when they wiped it all clear?
God only knows when they'll start a new campaign as there are a hundreds waiting for the infamous email to start in Templemore

Heard the great news on the radio. nearly loss it. the only question is how many recruits are they going to take in & are they already in the system & if so will they stop recruiting again

Was it 800 or so Gardaí that retired last year? Might not fill the whole void but I'd say they'll be taking in a fair enough amount of new recruits.

no, this will be for 'fresh applicants'.... We'll know nearer the time how many they are looking for, the more the better - because then it gives ya a better chance of getting in

ya was thinking that and then all the money wasted on the medicals and physicals to well i think more or less a recruitment drives takes a year so prob start november for new applicants with the eye of them maybe bein taken in at the end of 2011 start of 2012 as they have people in the system already waitin to be recruited but thats my opinion not written in stone
