Get Ethereal Dialpad. Dead simple, MOST enetertaining.

Agreed on 3G Watchdog. I also have Advanced Task Killer.

I downloaded Voice Recorder, the one with the Gmail envelope icon and the Japanese-y named creator. I sometimes miss my 5800XM. Got OI File Manager for moving my music and downloads around. Google Sky Map is also pretty damn cool at night.

And... Metal Detector! Phwah! Not only is my phone awesome, IT'S MAGIC!

you get texts from Singapore only when you try to track the phone.

According to their facbook page there is no charge for the SMS received....

Camera Zoom FX can be bought for 2 quid on the makers website

Severly better Camera app, the colours look right when you take a picture using it. shame you have to buy on the site to get it due to googles slow moving to give ireland paid apps

but i really really reccomend it over the normal camera app

I'm new to the whole Android thing, but I didn't realise until now you could download apps from sites other than market! Hurray! (I'm not usually this slow, honest...)

So... any other reputable off-market apps to recommend?

It's available now, the problem is it only runs on Android 2.0+, which isn't available (officially) on any handset in Ireland. Also, Google Maps needs a constant data connection to run, which isn't much good in the arsehole of Leitrim or if you don't have a data plan. CoPilot runs 'offline', the maps are saved to the SD Card

Of course - sorry about that, I'm using 2.1 at the minute.

AndNav2 wasn't a bad option that I used to use on a G1 and a Hero, let you prefetch the route you need or else save entire map areas to the SD card.

They released updates quite regulary though which was annoying, as it made the older version obsolete, something you wouldn't realise until you tried to use the app!
