It was kinda nice though wasn't it?.

Like when you were a kid and the power went out you would have to light candles and play board games. Ah the good ould days :pac:

I just stuck on my MegaDrive and had a few games of Road Rash and Streets of Rage.

And my PS3 slim was working fine:eek:

Have you tried launching the game/syncing trophies?
All of my Borderlands trophies magically reappeared eventually after I'd been playing the game for a while (only showed 22% earlier)

Unless Sony fix this with a firmware update, we won't see this again until 2014, if are still playing games on PS3 at that stage.

You won't see PS4 until E3 '13 at the earliest. That is if the CT'ers don't end the world on 21/12/12.:D

I was wondering about the PSN going down due to the clock error. Wouldn't the Australians have suffered the problem 12 hours before we did? If so why wasn't Sony giving other people a heads up a lot sooner or something similar? While I am not going to gripe and complain because the PSN was down, but it would have been nice to have been warned in advance.

    Internal clock works off GMT

No - The time which is clocked on the PS3s are Greenwich Mean Time (GMT - London) - hence "Our Time"...

Actually we will see it all again in 2 years time when there is an actual leap year.

That means it will show as March 1st in 2012 instead of 29 of Feb 2012.
So 2 years time before we have this mess again :P

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,329 ✭✭✭wcarey1975

No we should not see it again till 2014 as the leap year in 2012 just will show up as the 1st march. The problem here appears that the OS knew that the 29th of Feb 2010 was not a real date and that is what caused the problem.

Any reason we won't see or be effected by this next year again?

Because it's not an even year, so the internal clock won't think it's a leap year. It didn't happen last year did it?

But only if the monkeys who coded the stuff didn't do any more silly mistakes.

Well, I haven't noticed any problems on my PS3, wouldn't have used it on Monday anyway. I guess it could've been worse.

Incidentally this wasn't a software issue. The ARM chip on the system that handles such tasks screwed up. It also screwed up with the MS Zune's not so long ago...
