Its going to happen in less than 3 and half hours anyway. Why void the warranty of your PS3 for that.

Sony only give a lousy 1 year warranty anyway so it won't make a difference

I hate the wink, I really do. Grown men giving each other the wink. Even on a message board.

    Yuck.

It'd take more than a wink and mentioning EU law to Sony to get em to budge on the warranty issue, you'd probably need a good kick up the hole too :pac:

Ha as good as that sounds somehow I don't think sony are too concerned by one person and consumer law seeing as they don't give a **** bout their 21 million PS3 users anyway

I also have a CECHL03 which is not affected
Just a note - mines the same model, and works fine, so this one seems to be safe.

Well it worked with Microsoft, people kept pushing the EU 2 year warranty on all electrical and thats how we ended up with the 3 year RROD warranty. Which has been extended world wide.

Enough people complain and they will budge, you can take them to the small claims court, costs nothing except Sony because they will be in the wrong unless you dropped the thing off a building or decided to wash it in the sink. If a company can't/won't honour a 2 year warranty on an electrical product within the EU they can't legally sell it within the EU. That's may take on how the law stands and works anyway.

    Very fair point

    It's gonna happen GMT worldwide.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere earlier in this thread that all internal clocks are GMT so it wouldn't make a difference where you are located?

EDIT: jd beat me to it.

No, its all based off GMT which the PS3 internal clock works off. It started happening last night at 12am GMT, 7pm EST or 9am JST.

Just for reference, I don't know if this was possible as a fix but I went into date and time settings and changed my time to Sydney but I still couldn't play the game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 206 ✭✭gstar

nice one lads! on the plus side thats one positive out of the negative of not having the psn, least i'll only have to wait til midnight 2 see if the psn is truly kaput

No when you set the date manually you're setting the time/date you see on the screen. You can't change the setting of the internal clock.

    *cough*:p
