Gonna need something to help me through the nicotine cravings - how many cream eggs can I fit into me in 40 days??

My sister's partner has accepted a challenge to see how fast he can eat 48 creame eggs... it will be a while before the attempt its made.

I might have to get a few tonight to have with tea after the crepes with nutella mmm mmm mmm

    *Sundays - NO
    *Paddies Day - NO

Do I get a dispensation on my birthday, which is about halfway through lent? ;)
If anyone here wants to celebrate my birthday with me (in a virtual sense), do they get a dispensation too? ;)

When growing up, myself and my sisters all got a dispensation on my birthday, St Patrick's Day, my sister's birthday and my father's birthday. All of which generally fell during lent. Have just calculated now that that's a dispensation for 10% of the total number of days during lent!

Hows about a compromise where we can use those 6 extra days as we need them? Pretty please? That would cover sundays, st.patricks day, birthdays, my hen night etc.:D We would still all do 40 days, just not 40 in a row:rolleyes:

I'm also a non-believer, but it's just at that stage of term when I need to stop procrastinating!

I'm not doing it for Jesus either seeing as I'm a total pagan, just a good idea to try to kick the chocolate addiction. Although to be honest it'll be a miracle if I last a week.

Hmm, what are we going to replace all the junk with? Might be worth finding something healthy to eat instead or we'll all be heading for a fairly miserable few weeks...

Right. This is it, brace yourselves pledgers. Day 1, 46 days to go :)

No-one else aloud join in the pledge now but post as you wish. Remember honesty, if you break it once you know what to do, the less red font on this list on Easter Sunday the better we can all feel about the team spirit, willpower and easter eggs filled with crisps and beer (in some cases)..... :D

I almost made myself sick with the glutony last night (2 choc nutri grains, pack of choc biscuits, hot choc, 8 nutella and banana pancakes and a crunchie), however this morning I was early for my swim and my shirt is wrinkle free!

I had the nicest ever packet of tayto cheese & onion last night (typical, of course they had to taste perfect on the eve of misery!).

Tomorrow is going to be the real test. It's my Mam's birthday, and herself and my Dad are coming down to us for dinner. I'm cooking fillet of lamb, with all the trimmings. How I'm going to be able to eat my roasties without a drenching of salt is beyond me.

I fear RubyK is not too far away!

I went through the sweets cupboards and polished off just about anything in there last night. I called it carbo loading until my wife pointed out that I don't have a race today. But most of the tempting stuff is gone.

Right, over 10 hours into lent and I'm still in it. Go me! :D

must not think chocolate. must not think chocolate. must not think chocolate.

Well, last night i didn't hace peanut butter, been off it since last week so said i wouldnt binge on it the night before lent. Been too busy with this thesis malarky anyway. I have decided to add dark chocoalte too my lent list. Im a lover of proper dark chocolate, anything over 80%. yesterday i savaged through 100gms in 2 seconds so i decided it might be wise to knck it on the head. Had no oancakes either :( oh well!

*shakes head* I can't believe this. The first day of lent and they start selling scones. Right in front of me, and big, yummy, sugary ones at that.

I managed to resist today, but if they keep doing that this will be a looooong 46 days.

    ^^
    hate that

Be interesting to hear the craving staving tactics employed by the pledgers as the temptations lure them...

Even though I only said chocolate and biscuits, when the company achieves something significant they usually roll in trays of fresh scones and danish pastries.... I usually crack and justify them since they aint chocolate ..... that then sets the stone rolling down the hill to the chocolatey heaven of breaking my pledge  I think about 8 or 9 days is the best I've gone without even a nibble of bournville

There's normally a good bit of fresh fruit in the house, but bought extra grapes, raspberries and raisins just to be sure - when temptation strikes, it'll be a handful of grapes and a glass of water. I really know how to live it large...;)

What's this 46 day stuff? Fasting, etc usually ends Easter Sunday which is only 39 days away?? Am I missing something .

It always gets me that it should be 40 days of fasting so technically it should be Easter Monday before it ends :D. HTFU!

Early days yet but just checking...

    All pledges still intact?

I had a weak moment there at the 4pm slump in work and then again last night when I discovered a crunchie at the back of the fridge... came away from both clean though :)

Snooze button one was a toughie this morning but still all good :)
