    says who?

noone is forcing anyone else to watch porn.

all thats being asked is that women who dont like porn should realise that their opinions are not the only valid ones, and that they have no right to judge those who do like porn.

IIRC, there has been one post which referred to another poster here as unadventurous or similar.

however, those who do like porn have been called all sorts, and have had all sorts of slurs made on their characters and relationships.

if you, serenacat or anyone else doesnt want to watch porn, i dont care, its nothing to me.

however, i do care when i am accused of being in a loveless relationship, of not being close to my partner and of being demeaned. thats not up to you or anyone else to judge.

I don't know if I agree with you Maria. I've been involved in the industry on and off for about 10 years, and I look at a lot of porn, mainly to see what the trends are at the moment and how bad most porn is (e.g. it's unlikely most men own that watch, so why are you wearing it?).

So even though I see a lot of porn, my type of woman is pretty much the exact opposite. For example, if my girlfriend started looking like a tacky bitch (fake fingernails, hair extensions, etc.) and dumbed herself down, it would be a major turnoff. I would imagine most intelligent men think like me, so if you just avoid the morons you won't have to worry about meeting men who think women should act like bimbos.

its a fact is it? any evidence of it?

What a sorry reflection on womankind it would be if that were actually true.

+1. I find I just look at girls in porn in a different way to how I look at a girlfriend or even someone i'm having a ons with. I've never once expected a girlfriend to act like a porn girl

its not that men look at porn and think thats whats sexy and desirable in a woman ...it doesn't work like that ...its works in very subtle ways thats not fully understood....yes it is true that some trends that women have take up can be directly traced back to porn...

im not anti porn ..what ever floats you boat... is my attitude to most things in life...but i do firmly believe its not just a harmless pass time..

just a small thing what ever happened to people using theire imaginations

one more thing... Sam 34... Boards is a bit of a bear pit you get all sorts of opinions some of them very silly ..im sure people think some of my posts are silly or they don't agree with them....while everyone is entitled to their opinion nobody is entitled to judge anyone...Boards is just a forum where people chat and exchange opinion's and ideas...

a bit like speakers corner or the original forum.

You are describing barbie doll porn, really really crap pron from California, if you actually watched porn you would realise that brunette is WAY more popular right now.

Blond was for the 90's, Dark hair is where it's at.

It's not influencing society at all, it's been here a LONG time, and will be here for a long time to come.

the only time i ever watch porn is on those satelite shows which are more about the making of it than an actual porm movie and even then , they dont show all but as regards your point about california barbie doll porn being crap , thats the only kind i like for the simple reason that its total fantasy and unrealistic which is entireley the point , anything too real and it gets creepy

we do partly understand how the media( all media not just porn ) influences society....but there are a lots of reasons why we don't fully understand how it influences society... you'd need an expert in advertising and the media to explain this

Why is it not a harmless passtime?
Personally, I never really think, "Jeez, I'm a bit bored, I'll have a look at porn", so I wouldn't consider watching it to be a passtime for me at all. However, if I wanted some inspiration for a lonely night or whatever, I'm not really seeing what the problem is. It's pretty much just a turn on.

I have no problem using my imagination either. In fact, I would be partial to it but I dunno, sometimes it's just fun to get your ideas somewhere other than your head.

I don't understand. If you don't understand what you are trying to say and can't explain and further than, "You'd need an expert", then how do you know the point you are making is valid and/or true?! I mean, you can't even be sure of what you're saying.

I guess you must switch off your tv in disgust any time a mens underwear or aftershave ad comes on then? being that your average guy isnt a tanned, ripped European adonis but tv and print media apparently thinks we all should look like that

As for porn being responsible for Brazilian waxing or pube trimming, good! Nobody wants a mouthful of pubes when they're going down there , men or women, so trimming and waxing is a godsend for those of us who love to give and recieve oral sex;) I for one would like to raise a glass to porn convincing people to trim their bits, to porn!

I think you are missing the whole point.

Some women WANT to be degraded etc., it turns them on. If no one was turned on by that kind of porn, it wouldn't be so easily available and in such a vast amount. People enjoy it, people want to watch it.

Ok, you don't like that kind of porn, fine but it doesn't mean there's anything wrong with it. I, personally, have no problem with it for example.

i couldnt agree more, well said. *claps* i would rather read a erotic novel then watch any of the porn you listed above which is the type of porn that comes up first when searching.

Just going on the original title so sorry if this is out of place but I, as a male, used not have any problem with it but good ol' Chomsky, once again, changed my view in under a minute with his logic

Admittedly, the comparison to child abuse is a bit extreme but I agree with the basic concept of becoming merely an object, you can have all the female pornstars go on about they're the one's been the one's in power but the bottom line is they're the ones been well and truly f*cked!

There you go again with your silly generalisations, I prefer lesbian porn over straight porn tbh, its more erotic for the most part, watching a girl get banged by 20 guys wouldnt do it for me, but plenty of people get off on that, hell some guys love a girl smoking or something focussing on her feet, everyone has their own little fetishes or something that will turn them on just that bit more, yourself included no doubt
We do not need to object to porn; we just need to object to its glorification of female degradation. We can and should be open to porn that represents women in a respectful and healthy way, because only by creating alternative markets can we change the direction in which the porn industry has gone.

Theres thousands upon thousands of videos of men being degraded too y'know, some guys love being tied up or taken advantage of by women, be it submissive or bondage or whatever, and some girls love being degraded themselves during sex, female pornstars get paid a lot more than the male ones for the most part, in the porn industry the women are the ones in demand not the other way around, save for a few examples, ask anyone to name a male pornstar and they'll probably say Ron Jeremy since he's the most famous one, but any red blooded guy could easily name half a dozen female ones

    Oh, I missed this bit.

You like to read erotic novels? So do I. You know I've actually read erotic literature about gang bangs and all of the other things that you are so against. Maybe if you actually gave a porn a try, like you have done with novels, you'd find some you really like. Just a suggestion.

I knew a girl once who was always frank about her sx life with me, She never really got the whole porn thing but was into all of the above. She loved being controlled and degraded and being extremely submissive. So if she wasn't into porn why would she like this?? Here's a tip everything in porn was there before porn, It just let people know that others share their sexual interests and appetites.

Gang bangs and orgies? Roman Civilization was notorious.
Tieing up and feet? I'm going to go with japanese culture on this, from foot binding and so on.
Women being degraded? Up until the last hundred years thats all of socioty.

The great thing about porn is that it comes in different forms. It's been said that some women here read erotic novels, newsflash this is a type of pornography which is largely catered to females, as shock shock it's been proven that women get off more on mental simulation and using their imagination, just like it's been proven that men get off more on visual stimuli.

So saying you don't like porn but much rather an erotic novel is like saying you don't like reading, but you like scientific journals. Just a different type of the same thing.

here is my reference esp for Novella
96% of searches for 'porn' was by males and 4% by females in 2006
67% for anal sex was by men
adult dating was searched by 64%

    http://internet-filter-review.toptenreviews.com/internet-pornography-statistics.html#anchor12

also know some erotica is a bit hardcore i've not loved everything just like the ones written by women to women, but i prefer imagining things my self then watching porn really what is better than any pornos is on tv when two people have sex as there is a story line attached, nothing is seen (so you can imagine yourself) and it is usually more realistic than porn scenes

Yep, I've met a few girls who are into the whole "rape fantasy" thing, so it's not just evil men who are into that sort of porn.

Wouldn't be to my taste though.

That is also the very first page that comes up when you type "porn statistics" into Google. Guarantee if I had some time on my hands, I could find a study online that has a bit more standing power if you will.

Also, what you have linked to only states that 96% of men used the search term "porn". It doesn't state for a second that 96% of viewers of porn were male. For example, if I was looking for porn, I wouldn't type that into Google!

So linking to this as a back up that most men like gang bang porn or more men than women do is completely irrelevant.

    Another gross generalisation.

I understand you don't like porn, that's grand, but you are wrong to project your own fears onto everyone else. Just because you think porn is a problem doesn't mean everyone else should.

I also think most of your opinions on porn are quite extreme. I hope you realise extremist opinions are not healthy, and tend to be incorrect. Certainly I would be more fearful of someone like you than someone who looks at porn.
