I was just checking the E.P.G. (Chorus cable version) for today and on the ITV4 listing for 6.30 this evening(Guinness Prem. Rugby highlights), the details say " Not available in the Republic of Ireland". Does this mean that the channel will have blocked access at this time?- which would be a first for U.P.C. This is the programme presented by Craig Doyle, but I was able to watch a repeat of last weeks show on the channel on Wednesday(?) in the clear. Perhaps rights belong to another channel at weekends.

just to update my original post. ITV4 was not blocked for this programme. The E.P.G. still said "Not available in R.O.I.". I Knew I had watched the programme last week.

Bad news. I do not think I am getting Espn.

I think this as Chorus have upgraded the channel name Sky Sports Extra to Sky Sports 4 but have left ESPN untouched.

    :(

    What pack were you on?
If you were on the old select pack you need to ring them and change to select extra. Select is not offered to customers anymore.
The only problem with this is that select was €28 where select extra is €30, though €2 a month for ESPN & ESPN HD is good enough for me :)
Lets hope the City v Blackburn match goes ahead tonight :)

Liking Eurosport HD so far. I like the way they have "native HD" in the bottom corner of the screen to let you know when they're not upscaling :)
Malawi v Algeria on now sweet!

    Family Sports pack.

Have you actually tried them on 1908, if you do what people had done in the last week you might get it fast tracked, if not you'll have to wait for them to update the system for you, which as has been said could take until the end of the month, still 3 weeks for them to upgrade you.

If you don't want to do that you could try a Network Search: Menu>Settings>Network Search, enter your pin, normally 0000 if you've not put one in already and do an automatic search.

I have the dtv box, and there is no settings when you click on menu.

    I will ring them.

Just noticed that they activated my ESPN & ESPN america for me after I rang earlier but ESPN HD isn't?
I'm on select extra and I've got the HD box, should I have ESPN HD?

Edit: just rang them there, got a sound lad on the phone and had it sorted for me in a minute.

Nope. Zone Reality (as per epg) still there.

Then i noticed whats pasted below on their t&c's for Digital max+ with sky sports free for two months. It makes me wonder if people DO accept the two months free SS will they be able to opt out after the two months or pay the full price of e30 for the next 10 months, i.e are people inadvertantly commiting themselves to a 12 month contract of SS?????.

    Sky Sports free for 2 months applies to new TV customers only. The normal rate will apply at the end of the offer period. (pasted from UPC.s website}

I'm not sure if anyone has clarified this on the thread but I phoned NTL earlier and they said you would have to phone them up to cancel Sky Sports at the end of the two month period, and incur the €15 downgrade fee. Otherwise you'll be the charged the extra €30 per month for it. So people are inadvertently committing to a 12 month contract of SS if they don't phone to cancel.

Very clever promotion, I think, because in two months time, the EPL season will be into it's last couple of months and football fans might be inclined to hang on and pay the extra €30 per month.

Same here, not blocked even though the info bar said it was/should be.

Yes, odd that. In any case, it was not blocked on UTV in the end. I would have thought that whatever about ITV4, blocking on UTV without UTV's premission would be dodgey since UTV would likely have sold advertising under the expectation that said advertising would be broadcast in ROI.

Also who would object to the Guinness Premiership highlights being shown here? Sky have ROI live coverage rights but no-one has a highlights package and I cannot see Sky objecting.

Someone might be able to clarify a couple of things for me.

I'm an existing customer on the max package paying €33.50pm with no DVR. Having read all 34 pages of this thread I'm not clear on whether the new €34 max package with Digital + gives the DVR, and if existing customers can avail of this.

And still not clear if existing customers get reduced to €5 for multiroom.

was coventry v portsmouth on itv4 blocked for anyone last night as setanta were showing it in the ROI?

    Hi Golden
I was on the €33.50pm pack (Go Digital Max), I rang them re ESPN and was bumped up 50c to €34pm, I queried getting the digital+ with DVR, and was told that would be an extra €5pm. I rang again that evening and spoke with a very helpful lady who updated my details to the new Max + digital pack (incl DVR) for €34pm (no extra monthly charge). As far as I know the only extra charge is the activation fee for the DVR @€;20. I don't have multi-room, so can't advise on that.

I'm on Max+ and have currently been paying €38.50 but when I was onto them the other day about switching to their broadband, I asked them to clarify my tv bill and they said that I'd now be paying €39 and he justified it by saying I'd got benefits as a new customer when I'd signed up, 2 months of paying €2.50 for the digitial+ as opposed to €5 doesn't exactly compare to what they're getting now but there you go!

Just off the phone to a very nice UPC sales rep. I was shocked by her enthusiasm & helpfulness. Apparently UPC are releasing areas for HD every quarter, so some areas such as Sandyford can get phone (or HD), but other parts of Sandyford can't.. "..yet", she said. Very annoying. She also informed me that UPC ARE in negotation with Sky for getting their HD movie channels.Their HD service isn't going as well as planned & they need to get more HD channels to attract more customers, obviously. They are expecting to have these negotations sorted before summer. I'll wait till its in writing, but still, nice to know they're making some effort & there are some decent reps out there.
