I'm in the same boat and as far as I can see there's no difference in price between the current Select plus DVR (€27+€5=€32) and the Select Extra plus DVR (€30+€2=€32). If you do have the DVR, however, then it's only an extra €2 to move onto Max (€34 but the DVR comes free)

    Damn it!

    I have didital max @ €63.98

    Digital + @ €10

    and Multi room @ €17

    Total = € 90.98 per two months.

If I were a new customer with above options, how much would it cost?

If I changed the box on multiroom for DVR (small pace at moment)would second one be free subscription?

    Thanks guys

the select is actually moving up to 28e so it would be select 28+5 for dvr=33e so you be better off being on the select extra with DVR for 32e and get ESPN for free

Select Extra has the ESPNs, it had seemed UPC were going to charge old customer €30 for the Select Extra plus the DVR charges on top of that @ €5= €35, instead of allowing people to upgrade to the Select Extra+ for €32 (Which comes with the free DVR too).
But they did allow me to change it for the €32.

Rang up about multiroom seeing as its gone from 8.50 to 5 on the website.
Was told that its 5 for a new user for a limited period only, some sort of promotion. And it will go back up to 8.50 after a couple of months.
But it would still cost me, an existing user, 8.50 a month.
    Is this right?
If so, its very misleading on the website.

Well there's no mention of it being a promotion or for new customers only on the website.I'd say whoever you were talking to was talking through their ar*e. I'd say ring up again and give it another go.

Does this mean existing customers will still be paying €8.50pm or €5?

Can anyone tell me how to do a reboot of my STB? I'm completely useless when it comes to this sort of thing.

Now on Max+ at EUR 34.00 pr month. Got a mail from UPC confirming...

I'm starting to like UPC and especially the person who helped me out Big Time :)

Thanks all for your support and tips the last couple of days :-)

I am on Max pack at the cost of euro 33.50 pm.
    I phoned them again today to complain that 'new customers' would receive a plus box and free Sky sports for two months{max pack + as they are calling it now}

I explained the resentment we were feeling at being penalised for being long standing customers, the lady said she could do nothing except pass it to the 'complaints'dept and would receive a call back within 48 hours.

Then i noticed whats pasted below on their t&c's for Digital max+ with sky sports free for two months. It makes me wonder if people DO accept the two months free SS will they be able to opt out after the two months or pay the full price of e30 for the next 10 months, i.e are people inadvertantly commiting themselves to a 12 month contract of SS?????.

    Sky Sports free for 2 months applies to new TV customers only. The normal rate will apply at the end of the offer period. (pasted from UPC.s website}

I just spoke to a helpful girl who told me I will be paying €34 per month for Digital+ Max. I have all the added channels.

    I have been a customer since 2003.

If you're unsure, call them and ask. :)

TCM only on Max seems harsh.

On value pack @ the moment for €22 I think would like to get Max+ but how much extra?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 735 ✭✭✭Darando

Anybody know if you can upgrade to the new packs mid-contract?

I know companies like O2 let existing customers under contract move to new plans but you must enter a new contract - they win as you sign up for another 12 months..

    Currently - Digital+, Select, 1x multiroom = (27 + 5 + 8.50) = €40.50 pm

    New deal - Digital+, Select+, 1x multiroom = (32 +5) = €37 pm but with a 12 month contract.....

    or Digital Max +, 1 x multiroom = (34 +5) = €39 pm

wonder if they will bite :) anyone tried it?

asking on here before I ring them just so I know the story.

something has changed on their site since this morning

    ***
    Existing analogue customers:
€10 extra a month to enjoy lots of new channels and Digital+. We'll also connect you for free if you order online.
    ***

This definitely said €7 extra this morning...so for me upgrading from analogue to select extra with digital plus would be from 24.50 to 34.50.

    An extra 3 euro...

Also just called the customer line and they confirmed similar to the site.

    grrrrrrrrrrr

my interpretation of it is that upc are trying to reel in as many new customers as possible on the new prices for 12 months then send you a nice small letter after the 12 months confirming you are now not a new customer so will go up to the existing customer rate which can be at least 10 euro more expensive. a cunning ploy..... at least sky charge the same price to everyone unless they have a first month free offer etc....
Edit i see that analogue customers are now going to be charged 39euro for the digital max pack compared to 34 euro for new customers... why on earth would you want to change over if thats the case... so much for encouraging people to go digital. the extra fiver must be for the recorder part... i wonder what the small print of the upc contract says re 34 euro.. does it guarantee it for 12 months only /

OK I haven't been following this thread but my Sky Sports 1, Sky Sports News, ESPN and all the Setanta channels have just disappeared this evening even though I'm subscribed to all of them.

Can anyone tell me what's going on? Are they fiddling around with packages or something? UPC customer service are shut for the night.

Lads, we've had the digital max package for the last year to 18 month in the house and it seems now we should get ESPN and ESPN America along with the addition of the ITV channels http://www.upc.ie/television/max/ ?

We have the ITV channels but no sign of ESPN yet.
Do I need to transfer over to the + option to get the ESPN channels ?

If you ring them they will put on ESPN straight away other then that it is being done on a phased basis so be done before month is over

Does anyone know what channel the Birmingham vs Man Utd game is on tomorrow at 5.30pm? If it's on ESPN then I might ring up NTL and see if I can get it. If not I'll leave it.

Have you checked the ESPN TV listings on the UPC EPG?

ESPN have 99% of all Saturday 5.30pm kick offs. The only exception to this that I can think of was Sky Sports showing Manchester United v Arsenal this season at 5.30 on a Saturday a few weeks into the season.

    Had the same thing.
Last night i called UPC and i was informed i should get them soon but they were having some minor problems getting ESPN activated in my area (D7) that should be solved today latest.
Got of the phone and about 30 mins later i had a few disruptions in the signal, checked ESPN and there it was.
