We have the Digital select pack with Sky Sports, will we recieve ESPN or will we have to upgrade to the Select Extra Pack? Does anyone know what packs the Good Food channel will be available on?

I had to upgrade this evening from Select to Select Extra. I now have ESPN.

    That is unbelievably unfair.

WHAT! That is so f***ing unfair. I hate UPC sooo much. Fulham are losing 3 -0 and now this.:mad::mad::mad:

thanks for all the advice, I'm a Max+ with Sky Sports, did the 1908 thing, thought it hadn't worked as the you are not subscribed blue screen was still coming up for ESPN, left the room and when I came back ESPN was coming through, then did a channel scan and the you are not subscribed thing off the EPG had also disappeared.

I called the 1908 number and pressed 1 2 2 2 and got through quite quickly. I was told to reset the box by pulling the power plug and reinserting it after 5-10 seconds.

I now have all the ESPN channels (well the additonal ESPN and ESPN America) but the synopsis still shows that I'm not subscribing to the channel(s). The EPG still works fine so I guess the "I'm not subscribing" message eventually will go away after a few days...

Spoke to a very nice and helpful younger male but could hear loads of bickering in the background hehehe :)

Cupart soft or hard reboots were NOT doing the trick!;)

I am abit confused with these packages and I am an existing customer and I am forking out the following every two months to UPC (old NTL in Waterford)
Broadband 20mb (think its going up to 30mb) €80
    Sky Sports €60
ESPN (don't get the classics one) €20
    Basic digital €40
    TOTAL €200

Add to this it is the old pace NTL box the small one. Not DVR would I be right that the new deal is cheaper than what I am paying as an existing customer.

    How much did it cost??

3 euro extra - up to 30 euro now. But i also ordered the Digital + for an extra 2 euro which means I am now paying 32 euro. So the 3 euro discount i am getting on Digital + compensates for the 3 euro increase in the Select package.

Hi Odats,Sorry guys i am too lazy assed to have learned multiquote, don't mean to hog the thread!:)

Your problem is that you are on 'basic digital', Broadband or Premiums dont change that. They are what they call 'Legacy'plans,You will have to upgrade to a higher tier TV pack.
Way too many options on their site now and You could easily choose the wrong one.
best to know what channels you want and get advice to cheapest plan best for you.

for the last three years the digital packages have increased on Jan 1st,now they are pushing the + box's,wonder is it a case of 'rope the dopes' before they hit us with a large increase during the year.?

Hopefully not, they are coming on leaps and bounds!:)

For NTL TV, I pay €31.99 per month for Digital Select Pack and the digital plus box.

I rang the 1908 number and got through to a CSR. She confirmed that I would not be getting ESPN free unless I upgraded to a Digital Select Extra pack.

This would cost €35 total as an existing customer.

A new customer would get the same pack for €32 a month!

    NTL, you've done it again!

    Hi guys

Hopefully I can confirm a couple of things. I've a friend who works in UPC Ireland and would have a good understanding of the new offers, so decided to get onto him. Here's what he said:
    • ESPN will be made available as part of their pack to all Max customers and Select EXTRA customers, but not Select or Value customers. The Select Extra tier is a new tier that costs €30. Existing customers on Digital Select will not get ESPN. However, they can upgrade to Select Extra and pay an extra €2 a month.
    • The roll-out of ESPN channels to existing Max customers will be done on a phased basis over the next 2 weeks, as this can't be done all in one go.
    • The deals for new customers for Fibre Sports and Fibre Ultimate includes the cost of Sky Sports e.g. the €80 and €95 prices are the total price for all services in the deal, including Sky Sports. For the first 2 months, the balance of Sky Sports will apparently be fully discounted, so €55 or €70 for the first couple of months then €80 and €95 after.
    • The new channels already launched on all digital tiers are ITV2, ITV3 and ITV4, but only ITV2 is available on any of the networks that get the MMDS channel line-up because they don't have the capacity on the MMDS side. ESPN will be on both.
    • New channels that will be launched are Sky 3, Sky Real Lives, FX and Sky Arts, but not sure which tiers.
    Hope this helps.

I'm the same, we were going to upgrade to the Max+, add a multi-room and upgrade our BB 3mb to 5mb.
I'm assuming we will get the same runaround, if so I'm cancelling and the OH will reorder.
UPC are just shooting themselves in the foot, if they upgraded us for the offer prices they'd have us paying the connection fee, if we cancel and reorder then we will be new customers and get free connection.
    :pac:

That is so unfair. Why, what have i done to UPC? Why are they punishing me? Why do upc always pick on me?

This is so unfair, unbelievably unfair. Are you sure of this?

Wow, lots of activity over the last 48 hours! :)

    I now have ITV2, ITV3 & ITV4, but not ESPN/ESPN HD. I have ("had"?) :
    - Go Digital Max Pack
    - Sports & Movies
    - Setanta
    - DVR HD

so I'm guessing (hoping!) I get ESPN for no charge. Some are saying it's being rolled out slowly, while others are saying to contact UPC and they can sort it straight away. Anyone know? Trial and error? :P

As an existing customer, you will need to pay €3 a month to get ESPN.

Would it not be more sensible to just transfer existing customers onto the new pack as a 'goodwill' gesture?

Yes, that is why NTL/UPC/Virgin Media or whatever they are calling themselves this year have such a great repution for p***ing off their customers.

Existing customers on the Max pack will get it free of charge automatically. No idea how long it will take though.

UPC are now just like Sky all they want is to make offers available for new customers and screw the loyal customers with extra charges but looking at this tread since yesterday UPC have won the amount of people who upgraded for a few extra channels is just unbelievable......if we had just held our heads and stuck together and not upgraded UPC would have done a u-turn and we would have all got a free upgrade!

Confusion reigns ! - UPC Sales reps are saying Watch,Good Food and Yesterday are the new channels, UPC earlier advertised Sky Arts on their website - now pulled (do they read this forum?!)

Existing customers feel hard done by, ESPN is not available for the majority of Max Subscribers ,etc etc
Customer service have not been clearly briefed which is adding to the confusion - you think the TV situation is confusing, try broadband (btw I found the answer to my query on this forum so thanks - UPC personel did not know).

What should have been a glory moment for UPC is quickly turning into a pr disaster. Wonder if Sky will now chase the annoyed existing UPC customers ?
Hopefully UPC sort the mess out asap...
