No its not, They will replace it with the UPC media box. The dvr would cost €5 extra a month

I ordered mine yesterday. Once off activation fee of €20 and that's it. No monthly charge for the extra plus box as it falls under the Max + package. Was told this by 2 CS reps seperately.

So are these "Select Extra with Digital+" and "Max with Digital+" packages new?

I seem to remember that the only option after my €25 pack was around €65 when I checked a month or two back. I'm currently on digital value pack.

Yes, only released this week. Happy days! Have been meaning to upgrade my analogue to digital for months now and was about to do it before xmas until somebody on here mentioned new deals in the pipeline (thank you mysterious stranger!). I'm a soccer fan but couldn't justify forking out for Sky and Setanta etc. for the number of matches I'd get to watch. Problem for me was the young lad loves his Ben 10 type stuff and Cartoon Network was only on the top package. Now for €9 extra a month Millju gets his cartoons, I get a few footie matches, Mrs. Milltown can record all the shiite she wants and watch it when I'm on nights.

Everyone's happy! Or they will be if the box has a card protruding from a slot that Milljuju (age 1.5) can whip out at random and run away laughing his a$$ off, like he does with his nana's Sky card when he's at hers.

Does the box have a card?

Well I was itching to change the old pace box as it was constantly dropping channels for days when my digital + box downstairs wasn't. Asked them my options, said I could get a technician out to have a look at it or pay for a new box as I stated above. Digital + box should be couriered to me tomorrow morning and then just ring them to activate it.

Enquired about getting the + option, but that would be an extra €5 per month....

    Thanks Tarquin1970 for clarifying :)

But I was under the impression that the new price of EUR 34 would include the + option incorporated into the price and not an extra.

If this is the case the prices have not gone down, but up by EUR 0.50.

OK you get the ESPN channels included but I don't watch sports so nothing new for me then

In the small print, near the bottom of the page http://www.upc.ie/television/ Prices shown are for new customers only, but it seems a bit of haggling may work!!

Can someone from upc please answer me one question, if I was to cancel my subscription, how long would I have to wait before applying again or do they keep a record of the previous subscriber at each address to stop this happening?

It seems new customers are getting great deals while the loyal existing customers get sod all.

This is the thanks we get:

    Existing Customer
    Digital Max €33.50
    Digital + €5
    Total €38.50

    New Customer
    Digital Max+ €34.00

    Existing Customer
With Multiroom viewing pays €5 extra a month

    New Customer
Wants Multiroom viewing can pay €20 activation fee and its free from then on.

    http://www.upc.ie/television/selectextra/ does say:

    "Existing analogue customers:
€7 extra a month to enjoy lots of new channels and Digital+. We'll also connect you for free if you order online."..."assuming €25 a month" currently.

So €32 does include the Digital+, not an extra €5 on top of that...

Edit: They do however here refer to analogue customers, so maybe existing digital value customer have to pay an extra €5 afterall.

MRV is not free for new customers it will be 5e the same as for existing customers

Therein lies the rub, I am an existing Digital Max customer, with the small ntl digital box, so i wouldn't qualify as a "new digital customer"....I might try the "new digital + customer" angle if I get to speak with them later!

So existing customers are being ripped off while new subscribers get's the sweet deal for the same product!

I'm still caught in the 12 months and will not extend after the 12 months have passed. Neither will I re-subscribe...

I knew it was too good to be true.

    Bye bye UPC

Or maybe you could call and complain and ask to be put on the same deal as a new customer , UPC introduced these offers to get new customers but im sure they dont want to lose the existing customers while they are at, looking back on the thread they do have a loyalty team so might be worth asking about it

Just on to them myself. CS guy was pretty poor, girl in sales much more helpful

I was looking to move from existing max package but if I wanted to add digital+ and multiroom viewing it would cost me €10 a month more than new customers.

Already paying them a fortune so I'll wait for my ESPN and not give them anymore. Played the loyal cistomer card. Didn't achieve anything

Has ESPN not been unlocked for you either?

Looks like ESPN isn't coming through for alot of customers. A call to support will fix this. I had to do this last night.

It might be just pure coincidence but i phoned UPC at about twenty to six from the landline number they have for me to ask why the ESPN's were locked for me.

I phoned them on their freephone number 1908,chose the option of reporting a tecnical fault/upgrading.I was tuned to ESPN Classic and after about ten minutes the screen blanked a few times and the others unlocked?the phone was not answered just their hold music.

Might it be an automated system once the phone number they have for you and the account number match?,or have ALL entitled got it now?

Wouldnt budge on loyalty etc....Will email tommorow.

Right was just on to UPC.

I have the Digital Select and Sky Sports package. Although on My UPC it says I am a Select Extra customer this is not the case the UPC CSR confirmed.

I am paying 27e a month for the Digital Select.

It will cost me 3euro to upgrade to the Digital Select Extra Pack and get ESPN. However, if I get the Digital + it is only 2 euro extra bringing it to 32 euro.

If I stay on Digital Select I won't receive ESPN and my Digital + will cost an extra 5 euro bringing it to 32 euro.

Therefore it seems they are only giving away ESPN for free to Select customers that have Digital +

I upgraded to Digital + and Select Extra.

Also CSR confirmed FX, GoodFood, Watch and Yesterday.

I just tried that and it worked. Espn and Espn America are now coming in clear. :D Thanks ynotdu.

I called the 1908 number and pressed 1 2 2 2 and got through quite quickly. I was told to reset the box by pulling the power plug and reinserting it after 5-10 seconds.

I now have all the ESPN channels (well the additonal ESPN and ESPN America) but the synopsis still shows that I'm not subscribing to the channel(s). The EPG still works fine so I guess the "I'm not subscribing" message eventually will go away after a few days...

Spoke to a very nice and helpful younger male but could hear loads of bickering in the background hehehe :)

The you are not subscribed message will go away if you reload the guide by doing a new channel scan.
