Does anyone know if you can put a UPC card into a Humax PVR box and use it as a multi room box , as I doubt they would allow you use your own box instead of their Digital + box at the main tv.

to move to the UPC brand

I'd speculate that is a lot closer than it ever was.

No, you can only use UPC supplied equipment on their network.

On a personal note, I think this is a big improvement (and with things to come). I wish they would be a bit clearer re: pricing - and whether existing customers are stuck on the same price points as always or will get the benefit of the slightly new packages.

I was told by UPC today that no the new deals do not apply to existing customers. I have a call tomorrow with the "loyalty department" to see what they can do for me as I'm just a LITTLE PISSED OFF. :)

You gotta be kidding me  How is that possible?

Have never heard of anything of the like before.

One good example: When Sky charged GBP 5 for the use of SKY+ for non premium subscribers (years back) this was also removed for then existing subscriber and not only new joiners when it was waivered. Imagine the uproar it would have brought with it...

If UPC doesn't follow through for existing customers just imagine how many cancellations they will have and then resubscribers. Way too much extra work for CS which already is not doing too well.

And while on the subject, why should we praise UPC for doing something right all of a sudden. Isn't this expected by paying customers in the first place?

They have been useless in the past and by adding three ITV channels (which are free on 28.2E) as subscription channels so far, ESPN not unlocked YET and advertising FX without even having it on the line up doesn't, in my book, acquire a gold star and/or standing ovations.

I'm glad that something is happening, but I'm not holding my breath tbh

After waiting for a call back which never came, I rang the CS of UPC yesterday evening and it was confirmed that the multiroom fee for existing customers has been reduced from €8.50 to €5 per month. I also ordered a second Digital + box to replace my old Pace box for a once off "Activation Fee" of €20 with no extra monthly charge. The second box also falls under the new Max + package of €34 a month. I'm very happy with this.

only itv2 added here in offaly to the mmds lineup......nothing else so far on the digital basic pack. I wonder will they provide all the other channels or not. and yes they are still trying to charge 8.50 to existing customers for the multiroom when you ring up to complain that they are advertising it for 5euro now.

Just wondering if anyone has tried cancelling there subscription and then straight away look to be resubscribed as a new customer??

If anyone has done this can you confirm if you get all the benefits of being a new customer??

If you do I'm going to do it today and everyone else looking to upgrade should do the same, I don't think it would take UPC to long to change there price plans so that existing customers get the same benefits as new customers.

Because they were left with a complete and utter mess with regard to Chorus and ntl. They have invested shedloads of money in upgrading and making changes with more to come - and this is the green shoots we're seeing. They've got a long way to go - but they are coming on leaps and bounds from where they used to be before UPC came along.

I wonder where this money came from in the first place? Could it be from all the over payment they have been taking from us?

I see what you're getting at but going from chaos by adding three ITV's (so far) doesn't make it company of the year.

I think the scenario can be paralleled to an instance where an employee doesn't do his/her job very well and then all of a sudden does what he/she is supposed to do. Nothing more nothing less. Do you give him/her a bonus, a pay rise or a standing ovation? I'd say no... :(

This said, I'm not writing UPC off quite yet, but will give them the benefit of the doubt (done that a few times before) for the time being...

    So where are we currently?

    Current existing SELECT/MAX subscribers:

    1. Are the ESPN channels going to pop up automatically unlocked and if so when?
    2. Is it for sure that FX will launce later this month?
    3. Watch seems like a speculation more than a fact. It doesn't show up on the channel list with UPC
    4. Pricing will remain at EUR 38.49 for Digital+ MAX

    New Customers.

    1. All ESPN channels are available from day one of activation
    2. Pricing will be EUR 34.00 per month

    Speculations:

Sky Arts, Sky Real Lived, Sky 3, Watch and Good Food.

    My Status Quo:

    - Three ITV channels added,
    - No difference in the pre paid January DD on my account (EUR 38.49),
    - No communication from UPC telling me anything except the pre Christmas text informing about the three ITV's coming soon...

There seems to be different pricing scales for "Go Digital Max" customers, I currently pay €67.00 every 2 months for this! Last night ESPN Classic disappeared, is this in readiness for them bring all the ESPNs back up at the same time? As my current charge works out at €33.50 per month, would I be able to avail of Digital+ for an 50c??;)

I am quite angry to be honest, they told me I won't get ESPN free on my package, if I want to have it free, I need to upgrade and pay 3 Euro extra. so my package won't exactly be cheaper.

They told me I am not on the select extra package, even though I can see it in "my products" in MyUPC :confused:

They also told me the ultimate package is 95 Euro for 2 months and then 120 Euro after this.

the select extra package is a new pack more then likely you are on the select pack and paying 27e per month the select extra is 30e per month

Why does it appear in my products on the MyUPC bit then?

    It tells me I have:

    − Go Digital Select Pack
− Go Digital Select Extra Pack

do not know angel I may be wrong but I reckon you may have to upgrade to select extra to get ESPN

so does this product actually cost 95euro for 12 months or is it 95 euro for 2 months and then 120 after that with sky sports??? typical upc their website is a mess of confusion with the small print not helping. anyone on mmds have the digital+ recorder yet?

Some interesting deals here...I'm trying to figure some of them out :-)

Whats the info on Digital + HD?

Can I get it for €34 a month with a HD few chans? It looks like one has to pay €40 installation/connection fee for Digital + HD ad no installation fee for Digital +?.

I'm thinking that for Digital + HD it will be calculated as the following:

-> €34 a month for pack with ESPN
    -> €5 a month for Digital + HD
    -> €40 installation/connection if ordered online.

I wish their website was clearer.

    Thanks,
    spanner

Unfortunately Digital +HD not yet available in my area (the noggin), but Digital + is, so if for €34 I (as an existing customer) can get Digital + Max, I'll be all over it! I await their return call!!

Just noticed that the EUR 38.49 I forked out with on Jan 4th relates to Dec 09 as the VAT still was at 21.5% and clearly says December Invoice !! D'oh !!

I guess I'm paying in arrears then (?) and will see what the Jan invoice will look like.

Could imagine that the poor CS people are busy these days

How come they only added FX on the channel listings then (and of course the ITV's and ESPN's)?

UPC works in mysterious ways and I guess there is no point in even speculating... :D

As said a million times earlier, looking forward to Good Food and Yesterday :)

Which is why email is a good idea. Much of it would be a general email while the CSR would add additional information based on the query. It would reduce the number of calls significantly.

Your query has been given a unique tracking number for your reference - 7xxxxx. Our aim is to contact you within 3 working days.

    Kind regards,

3 working days? That is customer care? or wait 30mins on a CSR.

I am stating that email would be a good idea if UPC knew how to email.

I sent a mail to CS when the HD product was released asking if it was available in my area and I'm still waiting for an answer.

Also sent a mail asking for BB in my area and was told that they would contact me as soon as when the network had been upgraded (within 2-4 weeks) and that was 1.5 years ago :(

    No answer yet
