stop trying to help, you're confusing me:pac:

I hate the whole thing of creating new threads every day anyway. I check up on boards from my phone a lot and am on 3g. web pages take long enough to open without having to contend with threads being closed when you finally load them. Iback the call for a medium term (48hrs+) thread that stays open all the time. You could also leave the 0-48hrs thread open all the time too.

Now your confusing me  I never said anything about creating new threads every day, and what you suggest above is exactly what I was suggesting! :D
    Anyway...enough of that.

http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/radar/ just refreshed (23:30), nice heavy band of precip moving south in the middle of the country.. bypassing Galway well from the east.
That Shannon radar would be a godsend now if it worked.... now I really have no idea whether it's worth to stay up for another hour or no?

    Interesting developments

Front pushing south now should hold intensity, intensify, giving decent fall of snow across Leinster in the coming 3/4 hours.

Then at Midday tomorrow UKMO meso has that comma low thing over central Eastern Ireland, chance more snow.

    10010512_0418.gif

Then we have feeders into the east from the evening, through Wednesday.

Looks snowtastic, lets hope it happens!

Band of precip seems to be organising and intensifying as it heads south. Maybe it just looks like that because of the lack of Shannon radar?

EDIT: snap WC, what do you reckon on the radar question?

The shannon radar is a disgrace, all that wasted money on electronic voting machines, Ppars software and the list goes on, yet Shannon airport looks to have a primitive and faulty radar.
I know they suppose to be getting a new one but currently it is a bad joke.

just had a peek at met eireann to see what was being said now..

    04 January 2010 23:00

    Today

Many areas dry at first tonight, however wintry showers across north and west counties will continue to feed southwards across the country before morning. Some accumulations of snow are highly likely, particularly over Ulster and Connacht. Frost and ice a problem too. Cold, with lowest temperatures 0 to minus 5 degrees. Winds will be mainly light westerly, later veering northerly.

    Tomorrow

Many areas seeing a good deal of dry and sunny weather tomorrow Tuesday. However there will also be some further wintry showers, mainly affecting Ulster and west Connacht during the morning and afternoon, and then parts of Munster as well as some eastern fringes later in the day. Another bitterly cold day, with frost and ice persisting in places. Highest temperatures 0 to 4 degrees, in a mainly moderate northerly breeze.

That precipitation seems to be heading straight for Dublin. What say the experts, will there be a fun time commuting tomorrow morning?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,667 ✭✭✭WolfeIRE

The heavier precip will be in the western half of the country over the next few hours. That front will soon change to a southerly direction so the east coast may not get significant precip. I am sure you will get your snow tomorrow anyway so don't worry.

Drive down to Shannon Airport and give the radar a drop of WD40 and they'd be able to tell ya ;):)

The snow will not be overly heavy, but could last for quite a while giving you a nice covering. Enjoy :)
