It is apparently a tradition at Portmarnock that the President of Ireland is given an honorary membership of the club. This honorarium was instituted at a time when it would have been inconceivable that a mere woman would have broken into the all-male club of Irish Presidents.

Bertie (who doesn't play golf) is also an honorary member (or at least was til 2007). Also of Elm Park and Rathfarnham.

So you can't back it up then? Fair enough, all you have to is say so rather than attempt to come up with a witty retort.

But they didn't recieve any money after that - right? So you're wrong, right?
Some golf greens do indeed have wooded areas.
A green, with trees on it? Honestly? We ALL know thats a lie.
Your rudeness and expletives just make you look ignorant and do nothing to further your argument, by the way.
In your opinion. And lets not forget - that would be the opinion of a person that believes you'll find trees on a golf green.
Try not to take any of this personal Cadiz, it's after hours for one.

It's impossible to prove what does not exist, hence the onus of proof lays with the person claiming something to be true.
All you have done is quote me saying that women need more time off than men after birth because of the physical side of giving birth. You've then included your quote with your spin on what you wanted it to mean
Oh dear; that wasn't me. I suggest you look for your evidence from the correct person.

Men and golf. Men and golf. It's one of those things that make them feel 'like a man'.
Men are much more desperately insecure than women are. They need to constantly reassure themselves that they are manly.
As a consequence of this they don't like women doing what they see as 'manly' things.

I've played golf all my life, love it. Played with men a few times, and never have again, as it just isn't fun. They hate the fact that a woman can play golf. One said to me why wasn't I on the pitch and Putt course, he couldnt believe that I actually wanted to and could play 18 holes.

Club are groups of people with like minded views, opinions or mindsets. I believe different genders have different views, opinions or mindsets. To be honest I can not see why a group of like minded people, of one gender or other, can not form a club for the likes of themselves, without having others of a different mindset or gender come banging on their door, insisting in the name of equality to join and change the character of way the club was originally formed for. Just as I as an individual can ignore or exclude another from my life, I think a club of individuals who have privately formed a group should be able to do the same

This is getting ridiculous now, do I have to quote you again to prove you wrong? Or are you purposefully being obtuse?

You provided links to ONE time the Government provided funds 6 years ago, and that was for The Irish Open, a tournament which is beneficial to Irish Tourism and the economy. If you can really complain about this then more fool you. I think we all agree it hardly equates to paying for their golf clubs.

Now, moving on, since then you've posted this...

You haven't really explained why my post regarding the dominant culture s sexist and misandrist, zulu. If it was, surely it would be reported and subsequently deleted like the 10's of sexist misogynist posts which I'm sure you also reported due to their vile nature.

Oh and I want links and back up and proof please as to why it is.

Also, there is a tree on Deer Park golf course.

And how long exactly does it take to recover from childbirth, that I don't know but I would imagine it varies.

Ah well, it all depends on who you assoicate with really. At a KKK meeting you'll find plenty of things that are "common knowledge" amonst the crowd, that aren't true. "Common knowledge" isn't fact. Defining something as "common knowledge" doesn't make it true unfortunatly.

Depends on who I associate with...? Are you denying that white straight middle class males are in many positions of privilage in this country and my post is based purely on lies because I perhaps associate with a group like the KKK, or 'Feminazis' as you put it...?

The ecomonic wealth is split across the sexes, as is the poliitical power - what with it being an open democroacy.

Right. So you read the link of proof that you so politely invited me to post, yeah?

I am sure you read up on these two salient points that refute your post there.
After adjusting for differences in hours worked, women’s hourly earnings were around 86% of men’s.
The report shows that women are under-represented in decision-making structures at both national and regional levels. In 2008 only 13% of TDs in Dáil Eireann were women, while they accounted for 34% of members of State Boards, 17% of members of local authorities and just 15% of members of regional authorities. The average representation in national
parliaments for EU27 countries was nearly 24% in 2008.

So you are saying that women will have access to equal earning power and be included powerful decision making processes, not to mention be allowed into golf club bars where after a long day on the course we can relax and have a drink with our equally powerful network of associates, once men get a fairer representation of paternity leave?

    Great. Where do I sign?

I'm not going to bother to make my points yet again. Sign wherever you want. Edit - disappointing that you've reduced it into this: "once men get a fairer representation of paternity leave". If that's really all you think it's about, you have really missed the point.

    You haven't really explained why...
I'm waiting for you to establish that it's true first. You have claimed something as true, but have failed on all occasions to provide even a shred of proof. Why is that? Because you have no proof? Because it's a lie?
Oh and I want links and back up and proof please as to why it is.
I see! Lets recap quickly: you claim something is true without providing evidence, I challenge you as to it's validity, you demand proof from me. Right. I got you now.
Also, there is a tree on Deer Park golf course.
No doubt! In fact there's far more that one. ...Only, there are none on the greens, as was previously, and incorrectly, claimed.
Are you denying that white straight middle class males are in many positions of privilege in this country
That’s a nice change of the original point you made. Here's what you initially said, which I objected to:
the straight white middle class male in Ireland is the dominant class and culture
I asked you to provide evidence of this assertion. I believe that our culture is heavily influenced by both sexes, not just the "straight white middle class male". However you seem happy enough to trot that out as a fact, so I'm asking for evidence. ...or seeing as you now appear to have changed tack, are we to take it as an admission that you are incorrect?
and my post is based purely on lies because I perhaps associate with a group like the KKK, or 'Feminazis' as you put it...?
That’s a beautiful and spectacular strawman you are building. I never suggested you associated with the KKK or "feminazis". While the latter you admitted to yourself here I certainly never suggested it. And the former is a deliberate misquote from here.
As to why you'd deliberately misquote me? I dunno, but it is a little sad. :(
I mean, unless the truth was making you uncomfortable, why would anyone want to change what was said in a conversation in order to continue it. And if, indeed, the truth was making anyone feel uncomfortable, then you'd have to ask why!

I haven't ever misquoted you. Maybe you're the one that is full of sht...

I've given you examples. You can interpret or misinterpret them however way you wish to suit your argument, but you haven't given me any stats or links to prove yours. I still stand by the fact that that demographic hold the positions of power therefore dominate our culture. Yes, some other cultures seep in but they are not the majority.

    I've given you examples.
You've given no proof to support your wild assertions.

Unlike you, I haven't stated anything as a fact, so what do you require stats or links for?
I still stand by the fact that...
A fact which you cannot provide any proof of, ergo it's not a fact. What you have there WindSock is opinion, which is fine, but it's not a fact. To suggest otherwise is a big, steaming, pile of bullshit. :)

Oh I thought the statistics shown prove the fact that the system in place currently works for the aforemented demographic, therefore one is dominant over the other in regards to privilages of economic status and power, having such privilages gives such a demographic to accentuate their culture over others'.
Or so one would think. But hey, what's the point in arguing with a person who is in denial. They will always deny because oh what was that? Truth hurting.

    2. I asked you to provide proof that that was in fact true.
    3. You refused to provide proof.
    4. I suggested that the reason you wouldn't provide proof was because you couldn't, ergo it wasn't true
    5. You asked me to provide proof
    6. I explained I didn't claim something as fact
    7. You said you provided proof.

Nor have you even tried to tackle anything on the stats or link I have provided. I made a statement, backed it up and you didn't refute it.
