Sky Player. Free if you subscribe to Sky Movies on your household sub.

I searched for the comedy tab and it had around 140 movies in comedy alone!!!

When you click on a movie it buffers for about 20 seconds and then plays.

    Pretty Impressive.

I actually don't see the point in having Zune at all when you have all these movies on Sky Player.

:D nice one thatll keep me occupied some night if theres nobody online and cool thanks that_guy ill try that out later.

    Hi Guys,

Where you sign up for your SkyId it says
"as a Sky TV customer you can watch a selection of great Sky TV programmes on your computer for free by entering some details that match your digital satellite account."

What are these free channels? Are they the channels that you are paying for on normal SkyTV?

    Cheers!

Sky movies screen 1 & 2 are free to watch live for movies subscribers, no multiroom needed.

I'd also assume the same if you are a Sky Sports subscriber.

You'd assume wrongly, you need multiroom to watch live sport, already tried it.

so what channels are completely free, just sky news? is it worth setting up the sky ID even without any sub?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 61 ✭✭Porninferno

Just wondering what connections everyone is on. Anything I try to watch buffers every 15 to 30 seconds which ultimately makes it impossible to watch. Gutted 'cause we upgraded our Sky Player subscription when we heard it was going to be available on the Xbox.

We've an Eircom 3MB connection but average a 1.2 to 1.3MB connection speed!!! Must make yet another call to Eircom to complain about crappy service.

If you want to watch sky news it is, you can also rent individual tv episodes for €1.27 without a sub iirc

Not even messing here... could be a complete co-incodence but the sky player just gave me the RROD. Just picked where it says coming later today... sky sports news came up... played for a bit then crashed, when I turned it back on it wouldn't work and I had the three red rings. Its an elite, about a year old. bummer!

Yeah, I wouldn't, someone was posting about it earlier and I was thinkin no way could it be Sky Player doing it, I mean its not exactly graphically demanding or anything. 3 weeks without an xbox for me now! :(

So let me get this straight for a second...Its been a hard days work and Im half asleep:

So you get all the Channels that That Guy listed, even if you dont subscribe to them on your normal Sky TV account?

    OR

If you have movies on your normal Sky TV you can get them on the xbox with no multiroom.
If you have sports on your normal Sky TV you need multiroom to work on xbox.

What if you just have the basic, bog standard sky package (the one for 21.50 a month). Can you get anything on the xbox other than Sky News?

    Thanks again

    Statement:

    http://www.xbox.com/en-GB/support/default.htm
The Sky Player on Xbox 360 service did successfully launch early this morning, it has subsequently been suspended due to an unforeseen technical issue.
With so much excitement and interest in the service, we'd much prefer to ensure that our customers enjoy the highest possible quality of service.
We would like to take this opportunity to apologise to our customers who have attempted to access the service today.
Sky Player engineers are hard at work to resolve the problem - we expect to have the full service available tomorrow.

FFS. Tomorrow? Was really looking forward to this today. How long have Sky been advertising this? Absolute shambles.

Well it might not be the "Sky Player" but to say it has nothing to do with sky player is a bit much! It is meant to be a sample of the sky player. And it does load differently to a normal video.
