Note the little black spoilers at the edge of the Sierra rear quarter windows to keep the car in a straight line at speed. The early cars didn't have them and were prone to involuntary lane changes as the aerodynamics were a little dodgy

'87 Dublin regs topped off at just under 28,000 so it was imported at some stage

Sad sad sad... Has the owner no self respect? - even if it was bought misbadged why perpetuate the lie?

Maybe not a classic as such, but I spotted this '90 Rover Metro in Cornelscourt Shopping Centre earlier today. I haven't seen one of these in ages!

Interesting to see it beside the current model Fiesta, in the 1980's they would have been class competitors.

edit, sorry at a second glance, it looks more like an A class.

Not sure what the occasion was, but saw this "parade" in Colmar, E. France earlier this month - cars preceded by a motorcycle cavalcade...........

Edit - all plates are local French (Haut-Rhin and Bas-Rhin) plus the german ones are pretty much all from Freiburg just across the border so I asume it was a regional meet of US car owners etc.

No I didnt, just saw it as I was looking for my own car while getting off so I didnt see the owner.

France is thankfully still full of older cars, seems very few 2CV's and R4's etc were scrapped in their latest scrappage scheme. I've a good few photos to show but it takes ages to upload them. Whats the quickest way? Not exactly a computer techie, prefer a filthy old Merc diesel engine myself.

Here a bit of a teaser. 4 cars in the following photo, front one is easy, two in the middle are more difficult, maybe not even recognisable but the cabrio at the back left is really interesting, was shocked when I saw it in real life, one of my absolute favourite cars of all time and tbh if I ever win a million on the lotto its the first thing I'd buy. I'll put up a better photo and tell what it is tomorrow if noone gets it.

Hmm, I must have been in the "wrong" part of the country as I was lamenting the complete absence of oldies where I was - saw 1 x DS in over 3 weeks and 1800 kms, of driving and it was being used to tow a caravan (oh, the ignominy of using a beautiful motor like that like a modern-day workhorse !!)
