Thats the one that towed Gerry Lees VW camper home the night we were out on a run and Gerrys camper caught fire,it was like a scene out of Wallace and Grommit, oh so funny.

have to say i like that shape too
not sure what kinda money, but can find out if anyone is interested.

Shouldnt those bug-eyed starlets have the mirrors mounted on the doors? It looks like a hybrid of the bug-eye and the later type that had the aerial on the passenger front wing........

How old would that Starlet be? I believe the square headlight facelift was introduced in Japan in May 1980 but not sure when it arrived here. Were KP60s assembled in Ireland?

Looks pretty good except for the off-colour driver's door and rust behind the number plate. Unmolested examples are getting very rare these days...

Edit: The door mirrors do seem unusual, see these for example:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:StarletP6.jpg
http://www.tacn.nl/Meetings/ITT2005/KP60Blauwtype2.JPG <- Post-facelift with same, but maybe LHD models never got the more modern looking mirrors?
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Wikishots_1115_1280a.jpg <- USDM model
    http://www.tacn.nl/Meetings/ITT2005/StarletKP60blauw.JPG <- OK I'm confused now
    http://www.toyotaoldies.de/galp6.html
    http://www.tacn.nl/Meetings/Battice%20Classic%202008/DSC02049.JPG

Maybe only higher spec post-facelift models had the integrated mirrors, and a lot of older Starlets have either had the front doors replaced by ones off newer examples or the mirrors upgraded?

The plate is cork county, april 1980.so it fits in with the older version.

Dunno, what would you consider to be 'huge money' in this case? Three figures?

    Not your ornery onager

^ Those old Starlet's are RWD, making them popular with the 'drifting' crowd, thus pushing up the price of them to a couple of grand.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,138 ✭✭✭Tomebagel

i know these are the later model but still...

    €4000
    €5500
    €2600 for a project!
    €1650 for another project
    €5000

    serious money!

That's more then what they cost new... Surely NO toyota is worth that kinda money :pac:

I'm sorry, but prices of those RWD Starlet's really are kept artificially high. Their real value should be no more than a grand or so as quite simply, they are a lump of sh1te!:p

Its not so long ago that I saw an import LHD Starlet Estate, a picture of which was featured in the Irish brochure but never sold here.

Popular for rallying too, so prices are also inflated like with Mk. II Escorts, Mantas, etc. There must be some fun to be had out of such a small and light RWD car, can't think of anything similar except even rarer cars like the Chrysler/Talbot Sunbeam.

Maybe just left the handbrake off while it was lying up, to prevent it from seizing. Recommended!
