I'm not sure exactly which model it was.

Whatcar, the second last car in your last post is a Daewoo Tico, a licensed clone of the 3rd gen Suzuki Alto (1988-1994) that was sold in neither form here - we were getting rebadged Marutis sold as Altos by the late '80s, and Daewoo probably made no RHD versions of their car. The example pictured was probably built in Romania.

Your photo titled "Polski.jpg" is a VAZ-2108 aka Lada Samara

Saw one of those a few weeks back, with Irish plates and all (92-D)! It was the first one I seen here since the late 90's!

    It's possible.... But complicated....

Let's assume it's a UK import and that it was imported in the mid 80s, before they changed the plates to the current 87-D-123 style.
At the time it was possible to have an old number re-issued, if you could prove that it hadn't been used for at least 30 years. I know of someone that has a 70s Lotus with the plate Z1, same system.

Yes,hes right,if the old car was scrapped, and you were registering a new car you could do it,theres loads of cars done that way,GTI1,GTI2,both golf GTIs, GTI205,pretty obvious, was a morris minor..Z1,1Z, ZF4,also a MK2 escort.

Similarly, IF 205 is on a 1986 205 GTi and AFAIK is a much older number. Said car is now a rally car.

I know nothing about GTI1,that pic was sent to me by a friend,it looks like it was taken on a camera phone so its modern enough.Cartell doesnst show it so its been off the road for a long time, pre 93 or so.GTI2 does show on cartell alright though.

Saw this a week or two ago in town and then in Glasthule...

    IMG_1166_Small.jpg

This lives around the corner from me.
Not a classic in some peoples books I know, but a really nice example of a car I used to love.
    Hardly any about now.
