Hope your calves feel better tomorrow - don't worry, you'll be on the road in no time.

I think that running on my own is becoming a bit of an issue now as well. I'm really bored and I enjoyed having someone to give me a bit of a push on Saturday at the race.... :(

I know how you feel. I ran with someone on Saturday - didn't arrange it, just started talking at end of mile 1 and kept going till the end. I run on my own as well, some days are harder than others. Maybe we should both investigate joining a club!

I run far too slow to even think about joining a club at the moment

sounds like you could do with a couple of consecutive days off.

I find sticking something interesting on the mp3 player can help kill the boredom.

a good audio book or a podcast of something that you're very interested in

also remind yourself that your doing it for fun and enjoyment after awhile it's easy to forget that when your pushing yourself harder :D

    your doing great!

Can't really afford to take too many days off. I'm behind on my mileage at the moment as it is :(

RK - There's no fit4life group in Limerick or Clare. I emailed them last week and they just said that they don't have one at the moment but hope to in the future..... Not much good to me now

I know yeah. Thankfully my father is studying sports injury treatments so he's keeping me on the straight and narrow and i've ordered some insoles to help with my falling arches so that will help as well  It's just getting over the boredom of running on my own and getting in the miles that I need to do next

    REST DAY

Legs are not too bad today but I'm going to rest them anyway. Should have my supports tomorrow or Thursday at the latest so hopefully that will help with my arches.
Planning at 10k for Sunday but will try and stretch it for 10miles if I am feeling ok.
Will do some core this evening (haven't done any in about a week)

    Week 5 Day 2

    2.8 miles - ran 8'30", 30sec stride and 1min walk for 30 mins total
Got my new insoles today - They're going to take a bit of getting used to. Only went for 30 mins as the insoles were a little bit uncomfortable. Didn't really need to take the 1 min walk breaks as my legs felt great during the run. First time that I've gotten off the treadmill feeling great and much more positive about my running.

Also walked 1.5 miles yesterday and again today :D:D

Oh... and no tightness in the calves :D:D:D

    Week 5 Day 3

    3 Miles - 32'48"

Legs felt great during the run again. Only walked for a total of 2 mins throughout the full run and my recovery time is excellent also. However, the socks I'm wearing did not agree with the new insoles that I have :( Gonna have to find new socks!

    Week 5 Day 4

Legs felt incredibly tired today so I only managed 2 miles. :(
Need to sort out some regular running with someone else for motivation.

I'm going to quote you back at yourself: "don't let one bad run get you down!" You'll be grand, honest.

It hasn't been going at all this week. Really really tired this week for some reason but I will be out in Castletroy for a 7 mile tomorrow... :o

haven't posted in ages. between being sick and being loved up haven't found the time to go running lol

probably gonna give the 10 mile a miss.... lol ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,194 ✭✭✭osnola ibax

I wondered where you were mg, hadn't seen a post from you in ages. So, new lover eh? It's all becoming clear. ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,274 ✭✭✭Munster_Gal

Defo not gonna make the 10miler this weekend. Stupid chest doesn't seem to be clearing up at all yet. Having trouble breathing when I'm walking to work in the mornings so I can just imagine what kind of state I would be in if I attempted to run :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,274 ✭✭✭Munster_Gal

My chest if finally clearing up YAY :D:D:D:D:D
I've been out of action for 3 weeks now :( But on the bright side I've lost another 3lbs and I'm down to 9stone :D:D:D:D:D:D:D

5 weeks to my brothers wedding in Poland and 6 weeks to the half marathon.................

I'm not going to be doing the marathon - 3 weeks missed training is far too much for me to be able to do it! Considering I'm still taking walking breaks I just feel that it wouldn't be a good idea. However, this time last year I couldn't run at all and I was 10st 6lbs so I think marathon or no marathon, this year has been an achievement. :D

Absolutly Munster Gal, thats a great achievement. There is always next year for the marathon. And also you dont need to be running marathons to be a runner. Next year Im hoping to focus on 10ks and speed.

    Thanks Bally8
I'm not overly bothered by running a marathon at this stage but I'll keep up the running all the same for fitness and to keep the weight off :) maybe witha few races thrown in as well :)

I'm hoping to improve my speed a bit too, hoping to do a bit of speedwork over the winter and maybe go sub-40 at the Raheny 5 in January. That said, out of the races I've done so far, I seem to actually enjoy 10-mile and half-marathon more than the shorter races, so there could be a sign there...
