3 miles covered in 30 mins today. 5 min walk, 10 min jog, 5 min walk, 10 min jog. Found it tough enough today. Legs are a bit tired but didn't want to give in.

Have two more of the same session to cover this week but will probably squeeze in two extra ones as I won't be training Sunday (plan to be too hungover :D ) and I have the mini marathon on Monday so don't wanna go the full weekend without doing anything.

So overall have 5 sessions planned for this week. :D

Also have one mile to add for walking in and out of work today.

Oh ya.... mile done to work and back again as well

3miles done in 30 mins again. Found this really really tough tonight. Did 5min walk and 10 min jog 5 min walk and then was supposed to do a 10 min jog but ended up doing 5 mins 2 walk and then really pushed it for the last 3 mins to cover the 3 miles.

Legs feel fine but breathing was difficult towards the end. Didn't drink as much water today as I should have so I'm wondering if that would have had an effect

Disappointed with my session overall. Felt that I should have been able to hold the last 10 mins :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,274 ✭✭✭Munster_Gal

    Hey Seres
I wasn't going to. I'm not quite there with the running yet and didn't think it would feel right to wear an Athletics Club Singlet while walking

Do either of you lovely ladies want to let me know how the singlets fit? I'm just curious as to what size would best suit a top-heavy size 14 lady :):pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,274 ✭✭✭Munster_Gal

I'm a size 10 on top and it fits snug but not too snug.

Was planning the debut for the Dublin Marathon. Should have enough training done by then to be able to run and maybe pretend to pass as an Athlete lol:D

Ah no, go for it on Monday, it's always nice to meet a fellow boardsie, and this is the best way to recognise them...

I met krusty clown about 3/4 way into Wexford Half just because I noticed the singlet... :)

Oh dear :( i'm tellin' ya... tape over the display... evil things:mad:!

I'm totally gutted! Feels like a total let down :(
Don't think I'll meet my 70min target in Dublin on Monday

Munster_Gal - keep those spirits up - you will make your time on Monday - I know you will; I did my first mini-marathon with far less training than you, so believe me, the effort you have put in up to now will really stand to you...so think positively and remember, it's a great race just to take part it and even though you have a time target, just try and soak up the atmosphere and really enjoy what will be a great day... and I'm sure you will smash your time (and then smash that damned treadmill!!:D)

Very best of luck on the day...will be looking forward to seeing how you get on....:)

Thanks Chatoon. Fingers crossed that you're right.

Don't worry Munster_Gal, you always go a little bit faster on a racing day than a normal day....:)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,274 ✭✭✭Munster_Gal

    Thanks McConkey

McConkey's right - you really will go faster on the day, but word of warning, it's hard to get a clear run at the beginning of the race so just be careful of where you are running - watch out.. (I almost crashed into one of those traffic islands 'cos I couldn't see it with all the people around!); but just keep your own rhythm going - don't worry about people who try and dart off early, just keep your own pace and you'll be fine...and savour that moment when you're coming close to the finish line... magical..!!

Unscheduled Rest Day today as I'm not feeling great and don't wanna overdo it. :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,274 ✭✭✭Munster_Gal

After much conversation and looking online - I am adding the mileage I removed last night again. If I can walk 2.5 miles in 30 mins there's no way that treadmill is in KM! with 10 mins walking and 20 mins jogging there's no way I'm only covering 1.8 Miles!!!!

Can't believe I let the stupid treadmill make me doubt myself!!!!

Also have an additional 2 miles from walking in and out of work

Well I went and walked the whole lot. 1hr 38mins - feel totally let down on the time but at the end of the day.... there was NO WAY I was ever getting passed all those bloody women. Enjoyable day, weather was great and all that but won't be in any major hurry to do the Women's Mini Marathon again! I'm a pretty impatient woman so was doing my nut having to walk behind all the women who were going for leisurely strolls around Dublin today!

Anyway, I have it done now and have a lovely medal.... next step... Sun and Sand in Torrevieja for 4 days then back into the training again. :D

Bad luck Muster Gal.:( It was bloomin' hard work alright... the heat was a killer:( The crowds of walkers thinned out a bit after the first few k and it did get easier then but bloody hell the amount of people walking right at the front of the joggers section
