or Tower on Wicklow st have an Irish independent section. If not then i guess you could contact the band and see if they will send you one.

Horses for courses I guess. I like them.

They remind me a bit of earlier Tegan and Sara (again not everyone's cup of tea i suppose), and they make a nice change from the lads with guitar, bass and drums / solo singer songwriter dynamic that you see so often.

Quite fond of Heathers myself, but I guess I can see why they mightn't be everyone's cup. Not familiar with Tegan And Sara though!

I quite like Heathers. I can't really explain their success at the moment, but I do quite like some of their songs. I've yet to see them live though.

Im usually not a fan of the whole acoustic singer/songrwiter thingy myself.
Infact I generaly positively detest it but I have to say Heathers were fantastic at the imro showcase and drew the whole crowd into their performance.
How anyone doesnt think their track Remember When is as catchy as a dose of crabs in a brothel is beyond me.

There was a great band from Dundalk a few years ago called the exhibition, they seem to have vanished which is a shame. The myspace is still up tho..

I'd go for Codes as probably the most likely band to succeed in the next few years, and I think Villagers are also exceptional, their gig in Whelans was the best I've been to this year!

Can I include some bands from up north?! Well here goes, The Good Fight are brilliant and any fans of Lisa Hannigan should check out Kitty and the Canopeners

Really like Kitty & The Can Openers while I Am Not Left Handed are also well worth checking out.

Gran Casino are an excellent Dublin band - http://www.myspace.com/grancasino1

Last time I checked they weren't signed but that could very well have changed. They're huge; there's thirteen of them and consequently, the live show is quite spectacular; brass section playing in the middle of the crowd and such.

They sound bright, chaotic; a bit like a quirkier Arcade Fire; well worth a listen.

Bit of a plug, but:

Jerome's Law are definitely worth checking out at http://www.myspace.com/jeromeslaw or http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/pages/Jeromes-Law/90340740170?ref=ts.

They're just starting to get going in Dublin again after a bit of a break and have lots of material (the selections on Facebook and Myspace aren't even that representative of the whole repetoire).

I say "a bit" of a plug because I wasn't around when most of it (as a matter of fact, any of the stuff online) was written, but suffice to say I was very impressed when I first heard it all.

Don't know if they've been mentioned already - 8 pages is a lot to trawl through - but God is an Astronaut and Hooray for Humans are both really good.

I saw them at Oxegen, they really, really are.

The 202s are my favourite lesser known Irish band atm. I heard Paul McLoone play them on Today FM, but nowhere else. Shame really.

Harrows are really good. Their early stuff sounds sorta typical of a young "indie" guitar band, but their new stuff is so good - it's kinda exciting to see a band who are just beginning to come to their top form.
