the mighty stef doesnt get a tenth as much credit as he should, best songwriter around ireland bar none. as for lesser known than that i think foy vance is dreadfully under-appreciated, hes playin the academy 2 some time soon, and connect four from galway are also a decent band.
    Love the Mighty Stef!!!!!

    Exit The Street

Great band! Some people might remember them from Deis Roc, a show they won on TG4 in 2006.

This guy is great. Saw him first at the Electric Picnic last year on Donal Dineen's stage - thought he was fantastic. Went out and got his album Organic Sampler a few weeks later and I wasn't disappointed.

Deservedly nominated for the Choice award this year.

meh, i think hes over rated. The chap gigs to death, and obviously lives for music, thats why he should get more credit imo.

I dont like his music, but i respect him as a musician.

criminally underrated is Simple Kid - I know he's pretty well known but that hasn't translated in record sales

A few more to check out if your bored this evening.......

    Alterosa www.myspace.com/subrosa06
A Cork band who'v released two really good ep's in Ireland and will be releasing a single for US college radio soon.

    Myp Et Jeep www.myspace.com/mypetjeep
Killkenny fellas who have just released an album on The Blades old label no less.
Saw them upstairs in Whelans last week and they had bundles of energy.
Really worth catching live if you can.

    TBM www.myspace.com/thebrothersmovement
Attracting lots of interest overseas and having heard the album I know why.
If the album gets a 2009 release stick a few bob on it to win the Choice prize, its stunning!

    Cheap Freaks www.myspace.com/cheapfreaks
Havnt seen these live yet but seeing as they are an offshoot of The Things you just know they will the dogs nads!

    Vasco Junior www.myspace.com/vascojunior
Releasing an album on May 1st which Iv heard and would say has about three or four very radio friendly tracks on it (none of which are currently on their myspace page).
If one or two of the mainstream radio jock's pick up on the first single from the album I can see these guys doing well this summer.

Well there ya go, wont be everyones cup of tea but hey, thats music for ya! :)

saw them at the IMRO Showcase in Andrew's Lane Theater the start of April.

Thought the first band Land Lovers were the best band that night.

Pretty cool myspace art as well!

my fav dublin bands at the mo are...

Aortal (myspace.com/aortal) cool early bowie, muse, pumpkins vibe....great singer

The Night (Myspace.com/lovethenight) kinda dark indie ...like cocteau twins mixed with echo and the bunnymen....

....i really like super extra bonus party, The Rags, Conor Furlong and i liked house of dolls when they supported 80's matchbox b-line disaster last week....

not much else really does anything for me locally (that ive heard)....maybe the sound was bad but i saw ham sandwhich on rte doing their new single and they were atrocious and very annoying.....don't get me started on how overrated republic of loose are.....

considering The Loose are amazing, ill start you:)
