I think Ten Past Seven and Adebisi Shank are the two best Irish bands at the moment.

There's a band called the cartoon thieves in galway who feature on sharon shannon's new album. They are fantastic! They were playing gigs in The Roisin Dubh in Galway for a while under the name 'No Banjo' where they played covers (although I'd never heard any of the songs before)

They're now making an original album I think under their normal name the cartoon thieves. They'll be playing in The Roisin Dubh again in December. If you're about, it's definately worth a visit. They're very eccentric, youtube them :)

Iv recently started working with a new band called The Looks.
They'v just finished two demos that will appear on their debut album next year which I'v put up on my page.
The tracks are called Romeo and Enemies so if you have some free time you can give them a whirl here:

I remember seeing these in the Sugar Club a few months ago and being very impressed. The lead guy is superb, lots of energy, I'd say we'll hear more of them in the future.

Saw them in the Academy there, two weeks ago, first time I heard them, I thought they were excellent. Sounded brilliant, I like hearing a bit of slide guitar too.

The Dirty 9s are an excellent upcoming band too. I saw them in the Academy a few weeks ago for an album launch for Codes. They themselves have an album coming out soon too.

Having had more time to think about this, I quite like Autamata and especially Liberty Belle. Looking Jude by Mik Christopher another great song and Joe Chester in general.
Btw anyone remember the subterraneans. They had one song called Oh Mister which David Fanning played on his shows years ago. Would love to get my hands on that song.
Also Would Be's were brill. Saw them in Eamon Dorans years ago.
And best venue. Mc Gonagles, McGonagles, and McGonagles. Eighties were just brill and that venue was were most gigs were played.
The Happens, Stars Of Heaven, Wedding Present etc.

    The 202s

    I Phoenix

    Villagers

    and a shameluss plug, AridStar!

    They're all on Myspace.

Saw Villagers over the weekend..definitely the best Irish act I've ever seen. I watched a few of their vids on myspace beforehand but just couldn't get into them really. Went along anyway and was blown away. Very similar to Bright Eyes (and his name is Conor too). One of the best gigs ever!!

Have been hearing a lot of the Villagers on Alison Curtis show. Carnival i think is the name of the single. Think I preferred older band, The Immediate which your man Conor was in
