Mako are definitely worth a listen. The band is made up of Declan O' Shea and Christian Montagne of Cyclefly.

Debut song Grace on youtube here and Unstoppable here

Rarely seen above Ground is my fav at the moment-funky, edgy Joy Division sound going on. I think Irish music has really come of age recently..just wish the industry was more supportive. Autumn Owls from what I've heard also sound interesting.

I'm a huge fan of Heritage Centre:

    www.myspace.com/heritagecentre

They've a new single coming out on 8th May, launching in Whelans and they've an EP and single out already.

    Sweet, melodic indie rock.

Yeah man, they ar eabout the only band that i have seen lately that deserve all the exposure. Having worked as a booker and promoter for 5 years i actually think these guys will get somewhere... but thats just my opinion anyway

haha, i know and i'll be there!!! that's how i found out about them to be honest. i was looking at when and where spook of the 13th lock were going to be playing next as i really like their first album (not perfect but definitely on the right track).
anyway, what's in the lucky bag, what kind of numbers are you expecting as it's pretty small in there (so i know how early i need to get there) and can i bring my camera?:pac:

Are the redneck manifesto big in Ireland? All I know is nobody's heard of them in England really. Fantastic band.

Estel (are they still in existence?), the Coldspoon Conspiracy were good too.

They would have a big following but not in a commercial sense, regulars at festivals etc. Their bassist has a seperate project called 'Jape'-melodic dance/rock. Recently won the Choice Music award for the excellent 'Ritual' album. Check it out I'd say you'll enjoy it.

    Nice one mate, will do.

Another one I neglected to mention- ten past seven, from Kerry or Cork I think? Saw them once and was blown away.

Anyone remember "Dwight" ? Also from Kerry/Cork, I think they're on hiatus at the mo, but, they had some crackin' tunes!

The Misty Way are/were? a band from Cork whom I heard a few times in 2007 - thought they were fantastic. Their myspace page is pretty deserted now though.

Very much a band for those who like 80s British indie.

Another great ensemble - Queen Kong.

Second that recommendation. He's the best thing to come out of Kilkenny since Engine Alley (remember them?).

    RSAG is great live too.
