I think people who did the Vienna installation back in May(I think) started to receive their prints last week so I think we`ll just have to be patient for a bit longer unfortunately.
I was drinking with Spencer on the Sunday night following and he says that the distribution of the photos has nothing to with him but at the feet of Dublin Port, who arranged it. So the Vienna pics were probably distributed by whoever in Vienna commissioned him.

"We are now working with Spencer to create an event to exhibit the work in Ireland next year. As a participant, you will receive a print from the installation (Cork or Dublin) in which you took part in spring 2009.

We will distribute these to you around the exhibition we host or we will mail them to you at that time."

I quote from the email I got today from the Docklands Authority. 2009!!!!! Jeez I won't recognise myself by then.

There's a selection of pics (not the "actual" pics) up on http://www.dublindocklands.ie/index.jsp?1nID=93&2nID=94&pID=94&nID=486

There's one of one of the poses (all lying down "head in the ass of the person beside you") that I can see myself in :)

Have to say I`m disappointed really.I think the idea of having our pictures hanging up in an exhibition really appealed to me and just having them on a website will not do the images justice.I`m feeling let down by Dublin Docklands I have to say.

Having seen the selected shots for the site, I found it unusual that he focused more on individuals than he did in previous shoots, many are close ups of body parts/faces. Still incredible work though...

You're absolutely right. I was going to go to the shoot but got too tired (didn't chicken out ;))

I would be a bit peeved to if there were no exhibition. my motivation for going to the shoot was that it was in the name of art.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 10,610 Mod ✭✭✭✭humberklog

Well that's the very last time I wander around the docks with a chilly willy in the name of art. I'm not ruling out drink related moments nor renting to truckers mis-haps either (one can't foresee those times too clearly).
    I've changed address too...
This is a non-sense but I had been warned a few weeks back that something of a disappointment was in the pipeline.

All you exhibitionists and no exhibition? That's a travesty!

Hmmm, my blue arse in a gallery = art, my blue arse on the internet = pretty shabby porn. Or is that just old-fashioned snobbery on my part?

Not impressed, but let's face it, it's a different world than the one we shivered in that morning. I imagine there'll be a physical exhibition (ooo-err) somewhere sometime down the line.

It ended up being a work of art after all but not in the way the organisers and participants envisaged. At the tail end of the Celtic Tiger myth the sight of thousands of bloated and pasty Irish people losing their dignity knee-deep in the freezing water of Dublin Bay as part of a spurious publicity stunt, deluded that they're involved in something of value was a brilliant metaphor.

It's only illegal if it meets someone's definition of "offensive" as far as I know.

Meaning we disallow Nocturnal forum people from attending and we're aok ;)

I'm making a point of not looking at that pic! Seeing the arses of people you dont know seems less weird for some reason!

Hey, got my picture today too. I'll be honest I was pretty unimpressed to start with, but i'm starting to really like it. Some frame shopping will be done tomorrow.

Anyway, QUESTION: Did everybody else just get one photo? Apparently all the paper's are saying everybody will get 2 prints.
Haven't read it myself, but anybody i've spoken to about it today, keeps goin " But you were supposed to get 2".
I was only expecting the 1, but if I'm due a second I wanna know about it:rolleyes:

  • Registered Users Posts: 86 ✭✭PatB71

I think if you were involved in the other shoot up on the balconies you get a second print .Managed to get on the website this morning after trying yesterday to no avail...like the video but thought there might have been more photo`s,think I can see myself on beach pic but hard to tell,we`re a good lookin bunch the Irish aren`t we.:D

Just looking at the Dublin photo I received, things seemed a bit crowded nearer Spencer's camera position, myself and a few other boards members were up the other end and as car as I can remember you could swing an olympic hammer around you there was so much space! Must have been fun for you lot doing position "C"!

Have heard from two seperate people about some kind of reunion taking place on June 26th on the pier? Anybody know anything about this? Seems people are going to meet up and watch the sun rise on Friday night / Saturday morning!!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 43,045 ✭✭✭✭Nevyn

I don't think the public can get access to down there tbh.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,766 ✭✭✭robbie1876

Unless access has changed recently, it's a public space alright. Have been out the wall many times, admitedly not since the tunick shoot though...

Having said that, I wouldn't fancy going out there in the middle of the night without the safety of 2500 other people.
