It used to be on after Newsnight on BBC2 a few years ago!

No, it's not showing on any UK channels at the moment.

No i don't think so - it used to shown on BBC2 a good few years ago.
I'm surprised More4 don't show it. A very good comedy.

Thanks elmo, hard to know if that's good or bad thought. The introduction of Coronation Street repeats at 9pm hasn't really lifted the figures that much, but I can't really say as I don't know the real figures.

They've changed around their weekday schedule again - around 9 weeks after their schedule relaunch:

    8.45 Party Of Five
    9:40 Judge Maria Lopez
    10:30 XPOSE
11:00 What Not To Wear USA
    12:10 Rachael Ray
1:05 Friends / The Class (on Tue)
    1:30 Seinfeld
    2:00 Law And order
    3:00 Without A Trace
    4:00 Numb3rs
    5:00 Friday Night Lights
    6:00 Malcolm In The Middle
    6:30 My Name Is Earl

So taking from those changes - seems that Judge Lopez failed miserably, but what were they thinking anyway putting it straight after an hour of Judge Judy on TV3.

On another note - saw an promo for 3e weekend programming - where they start the promo by saying "3e isn't always about the men . . ." and then go on to tell about all the women friendly programmes over the weekends. Now wasn't TV3's aim of 3e was to provide an alternative to TV3 at different times throught the week.
So on Saturday's we have Emmerdale Omnibus, Clean House, House Doctor, Trinny And Susannah Undress and Whose Wedding is It Anyway. Now those are mainly aimed at women, while on 3e they show Fashionista Diaries, what Not To Wear and 2 hours of Desire (soapy drama). I'd just rather see a bit of a difference between the 2 schedules. I'd love to know if there are 2 different schedulers or just the 1 person making up both the channels.

I would say that it is the programming department that makes up the schedule which is made up of about 3 managers and possibly 3 office staff.

The last 2 months has seen an improvement in their schedule, while the got of to a rocky start in January. To much chopping and changing.
    "3e isn't always about the men . . ."

How could anyone think this? it is a female driven station very little for men on the channel bar a few comedies. CSI is generally watched by women.

It is a small improvement but it only bring 3e back to the position that Channel 6 was in before TV3 bought them in back in 2008.

I 3e will have to show repeats of GAA matches that TV3 hold the rights to, or some Live UFEA matches to bring up the audience.

They need to do something different if they are to increase they can't just think that Coronation Street will gain them viewers.

Move emmerdale to 3e for a few months with repeats on TV3?

There'd be a shītstorm if they moved Emmerdale - don't forget all the people with only 4 channels!

I don't think the ITV repeats on 3e are doing it any good - they are of no interest to me anyway. I only ever watched some of the American comedies on the channel (and The Fast Show when they had that), but they seem to be gradually showing less. Friends does not count - that show really needs to die in a fire after all the chronic repeats on E4, Sky One (back in the day), etc.

If they just got rid of 3e alltogether they might be able to make a half decent channel...

I don't people in 4 TV land would really care if Emmerdale move to 3e for a month, if TV3 want to increase viewers for 3e they need something, and if all they can come up with is to move Emmerdale over to 3e then so be it, other options include some investment into programming that stands out from the many other TV channels available on Cable and Satellite.

If they did it for one month in August I think they would see major gains. But they would have to provide something equal to Emmerdale over on TV3 or perhaps something even better i.e. not a repeat of Malcolm in the Middle.

Remember Emmerdale wasn't a big soap in Ireland back in 2001, it wasn't even shown in Prime Time on any of the channels.

But you are right the money the spent on acquiring 3e could have been used to get some prime time quality programming from independent producers which would automatically increase viewing figures for TV3. And they may have made money out of that investment.

I think it would be best to leave Emmerdale on TV3 - most ppl would move over to UTV if they did move it to 3e. Maybe scrapping the repeats on TV3 at 3.00 and move them to 3e might work.

Also i'm surprised that they don't make an extended half hour of Midday on 3e at 12.50 - a perfect way of getting daytime viewers to switch over after it finishes on TV3.

Still think they should go for a T4 like slot, maybe from something like 2-6 on sat and Sun, with few presenters just introducing the shows, and on some weekends interviewing a few celebs etc ... With shows they could show like Friends, How I Met Your Mother and maybe even a repeat of the All Ireland Talent Quiz etc...

They should have put The Morning Show on 3E, straight after Ireland AM on TV3. I suppose they are trying to go for a younger audience.

    Something like Daytime :(

3e seems to have already plateaued Nationally at 0.8%, Multichannel at 0.9% and in their main target audience of 15 - 34 year old at 1.1% in peak hours in multichannel homes.

I am surprised, when they tided up their schedules. I blame TV3s marketing of the channel and channel Name.

    Do 3e show The Wire?

They seem to have bought season 1 and 2 only which they repeat constantly.

TG4 and FX had the series when it was initially made and BBC2 may still be going through their repeat run Monday to Friday at around 11am, it think they are showing all series of the show.

I wonder how House is doing on 3e these days. A load of promotion has been done through TV3, 3e and TV3 website.

Does anyone know how to find out Channel 6's TV listings for 2008 at any month at all? It seems the web archive finished up around Feb 2008. Just wondering was there any other sites around that would have an archive of TV listings last year.

House was heavily promoted for TV3 on billboards and buses around Dublin city. You might even see some of them around still. Thursday night on TV3, only it didn't do that well for TV3 so they push it back to 3e. They should have kept with it, at least until the adverts where removed.

Also this graphic is the only genuinely good use of 3e or the TV3 logo on either channel.

3e had the premiere of House (Series 5) on 28th of May. TV3 started showing House (Series 1) last January on a Tuesday slot of 9pm/10pm and after 6 episodes they moved it to Sunday evening time on 3e. So TV3 haven't shown House since they dropped it in Feb.

Yeah possible the reason it didn't work out for TV3 have to a repeat on during prime time, even if it is a fair good product. Really the should have waited for series 5 to move it to TV3, rather then putting repeats on with a huge fan fair only to drop it after 6 weeks. Look at Sky One they heavily advert the fact that they got the rights away from Living (Living doesn't sound right, but one of the other UK channels).

So the last number of seasons should have done excellently on TV3/3e. Lack of knowledge and marketing skills have lead to its ultimate downfall on TV3.

Exactly. Irish people viewing on five would have been less than 2000 at most i'd say. TV3 again made a complete balls again.

I would say that only 2000 people know how to tune five from satellite/sky. (well maybe more).

This is the way I see it really -
Channel 6 showed House when it first started off - showing the first 2 series i think, they might have shown the 3rd.

TV3 bought Channel 6 etc, and TV3 stated to show House from Series 1 believing the ratings would be good. But they weren't - and mainly due to the fact the original series started about 4 years ago. So they dropped it to 3e. How could you say TV3 made a complete balls of it then? If a show is failing and they publicised it good before that - then why leave it there for? It would have been better off on 3e.

So 3e have been showing House Series 1-2 on Sunday evenings, and they were going to keep going - but then Sky came along and announced that they were going to show Series 5. so 3e had to act and show Series 5 straight away. So it's not as if they planned it.

TV3 should have shown season 4 from the start on Thursday night or waited until they had Season 5, but to repeat season 1 and 2 was a bit of a waste on TV3. The main point is that TV3 and 3e are badly marketed and they didn't watch what they where doing. While in the last few months 3e's schedule has settled down it took them 3 months to figure out what to do with the station.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,115 ✭✭✭iseegirls

More changes in the schedule as ever with 3e this month, as what is usually expected in September with most channels.

Out goes the "crime" afternoons, and in comes the heart-sob true life films at 3pm.

Overdosing on Ricki lake with double episodes in the morning, and the moving of their comedy hour Friends/Seinfeld/The Class from 1-2 to 2-3.

they've brought XPOSE back in to 6.30 slot - something which was tried before but was moved - this is now wrecking their "2 hour comedy block" which they promoted aplenty on the channel.

Coronation Street repeats might have ended what with new US series "Raising The Bar" due to air on Monday the 14th at 9.

Their weekend schedule is all over the place. Compare next weekends lineup with the following weekend and no program is running at the same time (apart from Supernatural). A mammoth 8 episodes of Celeb Air (shown on TV3 2 years ago) are due to air from 9.30am - 8pm on Sun 13th, with Airline in between them. Very risky scheduling I think - no-one can tune into a show that much throughout the whole day.

So still the same 3e this Autumn - plenty of US shows with very little originality that takes it away from other channels on TV at the moment.

Did anyone see any advertising for the Soccer Match on Thursday night on 3e on TV3? They seem to be showing a few over the next few weeks.

yeah they have Celtic v Hapoel ad on the screen since Monday in the left hand corner all day - which I think is a bit over the top. It's not as if the mums who'd be watching double Ricki Lake and rachael ray will exactly be watching the footie
