TV6. You would have TV3, TV6 and in the future TV9. It will keep going up in three's. The 3 group of channels. That's my guess anyway. smile.gif

Wouldn't call it fully subsumed - it is still there, still at channel6.ie, and still a seperate design to the TV3 website. All that has happened is that that to get to the site, you have to go to the TV3 website first and then click the Channel 6 link - just typing www.channel6.ie gives you a page directing you to TV3.ie. There's a TV3 link on the channel6.ie website also.

For the moment it seems like an exercise in pushing up tv3.ie's hits...

Yeah it is a bit daft TBH, www.channel6.ie brings you to a page telling you to go to TV3 to link to www.channel6.ie which brings you back to www.channel6.ie/index.php !!!!

I am going for TV3 X2 with 4 circles but the last one containing X2.

Pity really as it was at least something different and verging on alternative.

    TV3 X2

X2 like BBC Radio One Extra logo

    175px-BBC_Radio_1Xtra.svg.png

And they said they had no plans to rebrand lol Nightshift with the Xpose Girls

oh great......tv3's idea of how to run a station. get rid of all the irish programming and replace it with all our itv2 programming such as xtra factor. it dosent bode will for channel6 or any hope people had that it would become a good channel.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 32 ijc

Channel 6 is to change its name on January 5th, I think, to TV3e. There gonna ditch Nightshift and Take 6. But They say they are gonna invest in new programming for it. It's reported in the Daily Mail today.

    who had TV3e? anyone?

I prefered most of the names suggested on Boards.

    TV3e!!!!

I am guessing TV3E and they are turing their current symbol around for the E cause E backwards is 3.

I doubt Spanish TVE will like this very much.

Just read that myself in the paper and to me it sounds STUPID! There were a lot of better names thought up in this forum alone!

I wonder will this name change make it more likely that C6/TV3e be available on Irish DTT- FTA. I think C6 got money from that Sound & Vision fund for their Cois Farraige programme. So TV3 could argue that the channel has a public service remit.

Possibly it will appear. I would welcome it in any case if they kept some of their current programming but oh my, what a terrible name.

How would it affect them? How did the many TV3's around the world react when TV3 was launched in Ireland?

    TV3e.... bleh.

I'm not buying it yet because the domain www.tv3e.ie has not been snapped up by anyone yet - surely that would be the first thing they'd do once they had settled on a name.

I think TV6 would be better even though it's not that good at all.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 742 ✭✭✭channelsurfer

tv3E... or the irish itv2/E4 as ben frow is reported to have said in the article. so probably means all the american shows like house the wire etc.. will be dumped and replaced with much much better shows...such as xtra factor ..dancing on ice the rerun etc.... blah humbug me says....do the BCI in their ivory towers care? nope. they just allow the move to go ahead.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,099 ✭✭✭iseegirls

Wonder is there going to be a complete revamp of the schedule.

I think with the music that they should go down the route of E4 Music, or 4Music. Have different 1 hour shows looking at a different theme or singer/group. I find it boring watching Brian Deveroux for 2 hours daily.

I might expect repeats of Corrie and Emmerdale to go to 11pm or something like that (BBC 3 has Eastenders at 10pm which works well for them)

I think they'll put 30 Rock on this channel - it hasn't done well on TV3 and shifting it around a few times to no great reward.

I dunno what else, it's hard to know what's performing good on Channel 6, because we see none of their ratings.

I am guessing not much, they still have to reach 1% audience.
the irish itv2/E4 as ben frow is reported to have said in the article.

Ben prob thinks TV3 is the equivlant to C4 and ITV all roled into one. A better comparision would have been five i.e. Britian's TV3 and five US i.e. Britian's TV3E.

In fairness TV3 full title is TV3 Network Ireland ltd. While the Scandinavian (sp?) TV3s are Viasat.

But I am sure TVE spain won't mind.

TV3 Television Network Limited, actually. There was another company registered called TV3 Ireland Productions Limited but the Companies' Office doesn't make clear whether this was actually a subsidary of TV3 and its wound up now anyway.

I don't see any problem with TV3e being FTA on DTT, other than the small but not inconsequential fact that it would have to arrange carraige with either RTÉ or Boxer. There will be little space for it on RTÉ's mux and Boxer have made their intention to run a 100% pay TV service abundantly clear.

As for RTVE objecting, I doubt it. Their corporate name is similar to RTÉ's, after all, but there's no objecting to that! There is also at least two TV broadcasters called ABC (American Broadcasting Company, Australian Broadcasting Corporation) and previously also ABC Weekend TV who were an original ITV company in the 1950s.

TV3e? Yuk! To many 'e-e-e' sounds too close together.

Keep it simple, like 3+ or ThreePlus.

I would have no problem with it either if DTT Ireland was FTA and we had another Irish Broadcaster FTA.

The current mix of shows on TV3 and Channel 6 do not suggest that either of them should be on the PBS MUX imo.

I would hate to see TV3e reaching 3% let alone their current 1%. The free mux must be worthwhile.

The IFB Channel and the Oirechtas channel are not worth while in their suggested formats.

I agree. There were names on the forums here that were 1000x better than TV3E.

If it turns into ITV2, it'll probably suit.

How many times can you show Emmerdale?

TV3 repeat at 6:30am, during the afternoon, followed by a first showing at 7 and also an omnibus at the week end, will they keep their omnibus?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,641 ✭✭✭✭Elmo

In answer to my question TV3 will be showing Emmerdale at 10am, with Emmerdale Family Album start at 9:30 am. :(

At 10am, when is it on 10am? that's usually jeremy kyle.

TV3 took off the Emmerdale omnibus last january. I'd say they'll get rid of the 6.30am repeat anyway.

It's not looking good for C6. Xpose Review of the Year will be repeated on the 4th.

Do TV3 repeats count as a proportion of their required programming?

    18:00 Emmerdale
    18:30 Xpose

Pop Scene and Night Shift gone, starts broadcasting at 10am ends at 1am.

Star Trek Deep Space Nine starting and finishing the day.

    TV3 Factorial!

I don't think I've ever watched more than 5 minutes of Channel 6.

You will possibly be watching even less now.

    Latest on the schedule: -

Starts at 10am with Star Trek DS9
    Repeat of Emmerdale at 6pm
Repeat of Xpose at 6:30pm in case you just missed it on TV3
Ends at 1am with Star Trek DS9.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,099 ✭✭✭iseegirls

Yeah so the main changes have been:
    - Star Trek
    - Emmerdale being repeated alongside XPOSE
    - Lois And Clark - Series 3 - continuing on from TV3 which showed it on Sunday mornings.
    - New Series of Las Vegas (Series 4)
    - New Series of Terminator - Sarah Connor Chronicles
    - Andromeda (i think it hasn't been showed on C6 before??)
    - They will be showing a next episode of Dexter on Mondays at 11 - right after TV3. Very E4 thing to do.

Digiguide don't have TV3's listings up - so don't know how their schedule will be affected.
But on TV3.ie - they have Friends, House and Kildare Village (??) listed in their videos section.

C6 had started out with Star Trek as part of their line up and it soon disappeared.

Also they axed Pop Scene, Take Six and Nightshift.

It would be only that TV3 are starting Dexter from the beginning, C6 had season one before.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 742 ✭✭✭channelsurfer

oh great.... so another tv3 first......except that dexter has been on FX uk ..utv/itv at 10.40 and channel 6 and if its on at 10pm on tv3 that means law and order SVU makes way for it which is one of my favourite programmes!!!

methinks i would have preferred channel 6 to die a nice dignified death rather than have tv3 control it..

i think they started out with Star Trek - The Next Generation, but they will be showing Star Trek - Deep Space Nine from Monday onwards.

Yeah actually i can't find one homegrown show in the line-up (apart from repeat of XPose) it's disgraceful. How can we call this an Irish channel?

Have to say I'd rather have no homegrown shows rather than a repeat of Expose. Just because something is Irish doesn't make it automatically worth having. I'd much prefer a staple of decent US comedies and dramas than have to watch the dreadful stuff that's produced in Ireland. Of course it's a matter of taste (apparently lots of people LOVE Killinaskully) but I'd rather watch The Wire, Sopranos, Seinfeld or Family Guy than any of the Irish-produced shows on RTE, TG4 or TV3.

Unfortunately I fear that Channel 6 (or TV3e?) will become TV3's very own ITV2 which will show neither Irish-produced programmes nor great US shows, so we can look forward to Xtra Factor and the Emmerdale omnibus....

Well they could repeat a few good homegrown shows. Buy RTÉ back catalogue would be better then what they are planning. Even Popscene and Nightshift had their own quality to them, I kind of like their lack of quality it was better then the gloss that tries to hide Xposes uselessness.

More to the point, why can't UPC figure out a way to allow us to keep the programmes we've recorded. Not on really.

Also note the name of DVR box, it's now Digital+.
