whoever updated the guy's wikipedia entry today was pretty spiteful though. no need to kick the guy when he is down!
He did run a shabby, dirty campaign and did expect to get elected simply because he was Conor Mortimer. His website left a lot to be desired and his attendance at the debate and the count showed that he really didn't care...He should have bowed out last week and saved himself the trouble...

whatever about a gap of 7 votes being closed on a recount, it would be pretty shocking if a gap of 70 votes was closed.
You never know, with that time of the night, the counters were tired and could have been making mistakes

I fail to see what the issue people have with Mortimer's candidacy is. It's a SU election. It's not the US Presidency. It he isn't a legitimate candidate, why feel threatened by his candidacy? If DCU want a joke candidate as President why not?

I never heard of the bloke until today never mind met him but I wouldn't be surprised that in the event he was actually elected he would have done his genuine best. Or perhaps not.

I agree. Some people deserve to be kicked when they're down.

yeah, any student is entitled to run. it seems to me that some people are over-reacting to this and are taking it too seriously.

if a campaign is breaking the rules then talk to electoral committee. but there is frequently some nastiness/rule breaking involved in these things.

Final results seem to be in (if it's on twitter it's got to be true :pac: )

Melanie Farrell wins Campaigns and Information, final count is Melanie 965, Andrew 889, 31 uncontinued.

John Murphy wins Education and Welfare, don't have the exact figures but it was *rediculously* close.

John Murphy won Education&Welfare by 4 votes, Melanie managed to hang onto Campaigns & Information. It's a shame really, Alan and Andrew could've been epic working together.

Oh well, here's to a year of her "Campaigning and Communicating" for my needs.

Anyone know where I can actually take a look at her manifesto?

It seems I was wrong. These things happen, I suppose. At least that Harford fellow lost, clouds and silver linings spring to mind.

Oh, and best of luck to this Keegan chap, hopefully he's a success in the role.

    Well done Keegan!

So Mortimer didn't get in. Who's surprised?!

At least he'll have plenty of time to have more 'meetings' with his 'professor'.

How big a gang was it does anyone know? would think 2 football players would be able to stick up for themselves around a few scumbags. I can't understand how thugs can do this and constantly get away, should be locked up.
