The Mustang is sweet, but as mentioned its a Clone, and I wouldn't take anything away from it, its done well and one of the nicest around !

The silver VW is sweet indeed, well done !

Yeah I also remember that desert Powerwagon, wasn't it it belong to "the rainbow prince" or something, or maybe that was just the same programme. I recall an awesome Escort Cosworth on the same episode.

Love the 6 series, a definite classic, irrespective of the year, and AFAIK '87 would have been one of the last years for them.

Ah, Deckie didn't recognise it as yours - it's cleaner than I remember it. :D

You might have been mistaken about the reg on the Cortina. It was an original Dublin reg and belongs to a friend of mine, sending it to Cork for a restoration
Yeah you're probably right, it was the same colour as the link Corktina posted. It was going out the Ennis Road though - maybe the Robin was going elsewhere?

Ohh BTW I believe that is a Dodge Powerwagon
It's not - they have a different front and didn't go into production until '45. Look at my post further up

That Mustang is a makey-upy GT350 AFAIK, I stand to be corrected but I think 67 was the first year of GT350's.

Yeah its a 'clone', probably from ebay. Didn't GT350's have a vent in place of the rear 3/4 window. Its a nice fastback GT however, still very sought after.

you're correct. I'm easily annoyed and that annoys me: I don't get why you would want to pretend to be another type of car.

The licence plate maker must have been feeling a bit rough that day!

I think that's a bit harsch ;). Apart from the wheels, the car is in fact a very good recreation of a 66 GT350 with most of the detailling spot on!
With the genuine articles (as in original Shelby GT350's) selling for anywhere between 80,000 and 120,000 euro's (if at all up for sale), I don't see any problem with people making their car look like the real deal, especially if they make an effort in getting the detailling right, and not just slap on the odd stripe and spoiler.

There is nothing on this car that doesn't belong or is out of place. The GT350 was in fact first built by Shelby in 65, with the standard louvred quarter vents for that year. Quarter panel windows were introduced for the 66 model, urged by racing drivers, for better visibility of your competitors trying to overtake you in a race. All 1966 model Hertz cars (GT350H) have them.

Indeed, he's a mechanic and he fixes all sorts of classic cars (i.e Jag E-Type, Triumph TR4, etc.), but he seems to specalise in Lotus'.

Nice little Co Clare registered Starlet spotted in Lusk (Co Dublin) this evening.

Did they come without a side mirror?

(Carchaeologist - would you throw a year on that for us - thanks! :) )

That car would be may or june 1979,***CIE lasted from march to june 79.That type starlet is my favourite shape,i call them bug eye starlets, the later ones had the flat front that didnt look as good.she looks like a really tidy one,and nicely original too:D
My uncle had one the same in red,it was horribly rotten though....struts came up through the bonnet eventually...
