You have the Irish Setanta subscription but the UK EPG. Both Setanta Sports 1 UK and 2 are blocked to Irish viewers at the moment. That will explain why they are not working. Tuning in the Irish versions to Other Channels should work.

Edit: Setanta Sports 1 (UK version) is currently viewable on an irish subscription.

No mate i haven't tried it yet. I will when i have some spare time. I'm messing around with a few other things at the moment. Hopefully if we get a break in the weather i am putting another dish up just for 28east this morning.

was just onto setanta myself there and they told me categorically that there was no way to get a card off them.
Perhaps they've changed the policy in the last little while. :(

This is a change from their previous position and very short sighted of them.

quite annoying tbh. Maybe it was just the punters i was talking to...they did seem quite clueless.

Might try again in the morning. Might be a more "senior" supervisor to talk to...lol

Is there a legitimate method to get an irish sky card without subscribing to sky?

What if you wished to sub to the "adult" channels? Would it work then? Would TVX send you a card which could in turn be used for setanta?

The porn channels do send out a card afaik but why anyone would want to subscribe to that crap is beyond me.

Don't think i can afford to go that route tbh...:D

Perhaps Setanta and sky have done a deal so you have to subscribe to at least the basic sky sub if you haven't a card? Strange.

Another example of "Rip off Ireland"

Sky sports + Setanta each month would be a minimum of €71 a month am i correct? Where we better off for soccer viewing when PPV (Prem plus) was available?

Thats shocking compared to other european providers pricing for similar packages.

I hate to think what the future holds in regards to sport viewing?

Rugby, Cricket and dare i say it GAA all going down the same route as soccer has gone.

I'd be surprised if they had as this would raise price fixing and competition issues.

Indeed Tony, it would cause all manner of problems.

All the independant channels can issue a card where a subscriber does not subscribe to sky. The asian, adult, horseracing etc etc can and do issue sky cards to non sky subscribers.

There is no comparsion between the adult channels on sky and what is available on the internet for free. ;)

you'd think they'd want the custom!

Indeed. It is a crazy way to run a business.

I think you need to speak to a manager to get any good of this.

I agree with others, ask to speak to a manager.

If you're going for old card and box, you'd probably need to decide on whether you want UK Setanta, or Irish Setanta, which seems to depend on which card you have (UK card = UK Setanta).

The card is not yours to sell. It is still the property of Sky.

does that mean i can't buy one with a digibox legitimately?

    @ sudsandsurf

    Also you can't advertise here.

Obviously the card belongs to NDS, so you can't sell it. You have to give it back if they ask. You do own the digibox.

Someone else using it till Sky / NDS ask for it back is a greyer area.

If the previous person left it in accidentally, as Sky had not asked for its return, then I suppose you could use it till the original person is asked to return it, and asks for it back.

I've not actually yet heard of Sky or NDS ask for a card back, but the card does belong to them, thus can't be sold. Someone else using it is a horse of a different colour.

adverts.ie or boards.ie or eBay etc will thus pull any adverts to sell a card.
