Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I had my AC last Thursday. Personally I found the situational interview the "nicest" part of the day. Its more relaxed I think. The interviewers are really nice too. I thought I was a little pushed for time in the written exercise. Not too sure how I performed in the Role plays, but I did manage to get it wrapped up before the 5 mins was up eacht time. Now its just back to the waiting game...

Yeah the interview was good, felt like they were on my side! I just rambled on, i probably said the same thing over and over again!!! Oh well makes my point clear i suppose!!!!

hey dont be worrying, it can be nerve wrecking but ya have to be as confident about it as possible!! read what competencies are being tested for the role play(its on the green sheet) and try stick to them as much as possible i.e should it be respect for diversity, resilence etc try and stay to the point and the information provided!use words that relate to these! think of the best way to sort out the solution in the quickest and most appropiate way in the period before the actual role play and how your going to approach it and most importantly just be yourself:) i know more people have far better tips than me but thats all i can think of at the minute!

is it long until your a/c?? you travelling from down south?

    hope ive helped ya:)

    Hi Guy's

Can you tell me how long you have to wait for the results of the a/c day? Thanks

You will get a pass/fail letter from Consensia in 42 days (6 weeks), but you will have to wait until October for the feedback report to be sent out. The feedback report will give you scores for how you performed in each competency. Total these scores up and and hey presto!

The total score from the A/C will be the main deciding factor in determining your place on the merit list. The lower your number on the merit list, the better.

    Hi Kirksbabe,

Don't worry, just do your best and no-one can ask for any more. As Given1 has already said, try and match your responses during the role-plays to the competencies being assessed. Before your 3 role-play exercises (each lasting five minutes) you have a 5 minute unmarked preparation phase. Use this time to prepare notes on how you will approach the 'situation' i.e questions you will ask and issues you hope to resolve. Good luck ;)

    Hi Folks
Good luck to everyone doing role plays at the minute for C14. I have mine next week and hoping for a better merit score this time round. Just hoping either C13 or C14 is successful as I don't think I can go through all the waiting again.
Congratulations to all who's waiting is over!:)
PS Has anyone else got interviews next week?

Does this mean-- the lower number on the merit list you are , the sooner you get in? or Even if you pass the a/c you may still not get in?

A lower number on the merit list means that you're more likely to get in. It doesn't mean you'll get in sooner. You've still got the medical and vetting to go through and this can take longer for some than for others.

A person at merit number 1 may have to wait a year for his/her vetting to go through. They will be offered a place once this has been successfully completed. Another person may have a higher merit score, but could get in sooner as their vetting takes less time.

Passing the A/C is by no means a guarantee of placement. There are around 440 places (220 for RC's, 220 for non-RC's) up for grabs. You gotta be in the top 220 of whatever religious bracket you fall into.

In previous campaigns it took less than the full 6 weeks for your pass/fail letter. At my A/C on Monday the guy from Consensia mentioned that the PSNI had specifically asked them to take the full 42 days before issuing the letters.

This is the quick part of the process. You're in for a very long wait once the vetting and medicals kick in.

dont want to get your hopes up too much or sound like a lick but you have got to be 100 % in the Psni now, so long as you pass vetting and medical. Should be feeling good

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,006 ✭✭✭PapaYankeeGirl

Vetting wont be a prob, medical shouldnt be either!!!!!!

Ill not build my hopes up too much.

Hope you get the call soon

Is the 1st intake for C14 January????

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,012 ✭✭✭MrsGeneHunt

( in Kevin and Perry voice ) ITS SOOOOO UNFAIRRRRRRRRRRRR

PYG all getting vetted and I havent even done my AC yet and wont for another freaking seven weeks!!!!!! She'll probably be in Garnerville by then!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

    But I still love her:p

Its good reading all the excited posts from the August guys and gals keeps the old spirits up!

It'll be me one day! ( and lather ,rinse, repeat ):)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 721 ✭✭✭goodcopbadcop

You must have done very well if you got the vetting part so soon, last time round the guys with scores in the 60's who posted on here didnt even get things moving that fast, unless the process is different this time again to speed it up but to be vetted so early when people have yet to do their Ac they must be fairly confident you have made it to the standard to be at the top of the pool or there abouts.

I think the first intake is January, Cant say for sure though. I been hearing that intakes recently have had very small numbers in them (Police officer told me this) and I remember from last time they had to mix and match people from campaigns to make an intake, but I say it should be January, maybe December in your case

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,006 ✭✭✭PapaYankeeGirl

Blow my head up why dont you!!!! Thanks:p:):D.

I hope you and MrsGeneHunt are right about me getting in and doing well!!! I read on the forum ages back that the 1st intake was November, but hey december or jan would do lovely thanks!!!!!!

Just got back home today after being away a few days and found a big vetting questionnaire on the door mat. My AC was on friday 13th.

I almost fell over with excitement!!:D

It says at the bottom of one of the info sheets i recieved with the questionnaire, "The vetting process commences after an applicants successful completion of the assessment centre"

Is it just PYG, Bobbin and Me so far?

Best move myself along to the next thread.

Hope more of you join us soon!;)

Hi guys, I really don't want to be in anyway negative here and it's great to see that the vetting forms are going out but just remember the merit pool cannot be determined until everyone has gone through the AC as whoever scores Number 1 may still be weeks away from sitting their AC. I'm sure they wouldn't vet everybody for cost reasons so I definately think the scores of anyone recieving vetting must be pretty good but think it's best just to remember there are still a whole lot more due to do their AC. I really hope this isn't taken badly and I genuinely think the score must be great to recieve vetting, just want to put my thoughts across and put others minds at ease. So Mrsgenehunt and anyone else waiting to do AC please don't worry this shouldn't guarentee spaces.

I do agree HGV. It's hard to not get a bit excited though. I think there's no doubt it's a good sign all the same!
You're right to remind us to remain level headed!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 721 ✭✭✭goodcopbadcop

They have been doing assessment centres for a long time now so they know what scores are going to be good enough without having the full list.

Last time round those who scored highest got their vetting first and medical as well, and this time seems to be the same. I would say if you get vetting forms after two weeks they have an idea you are at least going to be in the top 200.

  • Registered Users Posts: 222 ✭✭Wanalaugh

I was in the top 200 and it took me until August to get the call. No one really knows how it works. We just need to be carefull about giving false hopes etc. Again as HGV has said, i am not trying to be negative. This is a very stressfull process as we all know. We need to be level headed here guys.
Apart from that, a very well done so far for all those with the good news. the hardest bit is over!!!!!!

If you get vetting forms then you have passed. Not getting them however does not mean you failed. People who have scored higher get them first from what I have gathered.

Two weeks after is very quick to get them, It was a month or so at the quickest last campaign, and for a few people including myself Vetting forms were not sent out to nearly 6 months after the AC.

Dont panic just yet, You will probably get a pass letter before vetting is sent out, its perfectly normal.

Yous remember PYG, Bobbin, myself and PB999 got those unexpected vetting forms sent out the other day?

I'm still having a hard time trying not to think about it?
    Why were they sent early?
Why does it say on one of the forms
"This completed form must be returned as soon as possible or within 14 days from its receipt" ? What's the hurry ??
    also
Why does it say on the same form
"The vetting process commences after an applicants successful completion of the assessment centre."
Does this mean, give us your vetting details and we will hold them incase you are successful, then we'll commence vetting? Or, does it mean, "If you were able to successfully complete the assessment centre, ie, not get lost in the middle of it and go home, then we will now vet you. Or does it mean, well done in the A/C, now we want to vet you soon as!?!?!?!?!?!?

Would it have hurt to supply a wee explanation just to put minds at rest?

The more I think about it the more I assure myself there's no way they could be sending them out based on our AC scores! But I also think that it's a bit uneconomical to send them out regardless of scores (the weight of the forms alone necessitates 2 first class stamps to post, then there's the manpower used to pack them and organise them for postage)

PYG and bobbin did their AC on monday 9th if i'm correct and pb999 and myself did ours on friday 13th.
Is there anyone else on here who did their A/C or knows someone who did their A/C on or between the 9th and 13th?
    Did they get forms?

Sorry to be bringing up an old topic again, I just wanna know if I should be heartened by this or not.

    any opinions?

    Thanks!!
    (wow - huuge post!):o

it really sounds like i'm complaing that i have the form here - I'm NOT complaining

Inspector, all i can say is that if you have received vetting then you have passed you AC. However because of the long vetting process, im sure they want to get ahead of the game. Trust me, they may know you have passed, but there is no way they know if your high enough up the merit pool (your placement) to say that your are defintely in. I mean, I jumped up 7 points from my last assessment centre and only moved up 30 places, which isnt much. The scores seem to be getting higher, the more and more times they run these AC's. Just wait until all the AC's are done and phone up ref your merit placing. Patience my friend. I had to wait a year to get word.

    Everything you say makes sense,
I've never for one moment presumed i'm gauranteed a place or anything.
I just like to know what's going on.

So you think they're just trying to keep ahead this time round, that's a fair enough presumption I would say.
I posted the vetting off, two sisters in across the water, prob take years to vet anyway :(

  • Registered Users Posts: 222 ✭✭Wanalaugh

Inspector, id say your vetting should be ok. It seems to be if your from down south, i think a few guys have had issues with the Garda not sending stuff back in time.
Keep em fingers crossed and dont get too wound up pal. This forum seems to get us all in a fluster from time to time lol
