Hi Tucker! Surely you don't need to know where you're placed, you're already in lol!!! Congrats by the way, I'll be seeing you Monday! If you're still itching to know, ring Diane on direct line to appointments on 02890 922500 asking for your merit number. She's very helpful.

Thanks! Yeah, very nerve-racking. But I'm sure when we get started and into a routine, it'll be fine. Can't wait.

The fitness is the one aspect of the training I'm not looking forward to. I'm not the fittest person in the world. I only started taking training seriously from late January. I've definitely come on a good bit, probably run 2.5 miles in 20 mins. Don't know whether that's good or not. But at least since you're an ex-fitness instructor, I can call upon your help during training hahaha!! You can keep us right!!

lol ill do my best!!! good thing is we'll have time to get it up and the only way to improve your fitness is to do the hard stuff!! I'm really lookin forward to it, not so much the lovely PE kits they'll give us tho lol!!

Good Luck to all who are going to the SRN on the 7th, will be people such as MartinC2006 and myself who will be at your services for the evening. Every single person who comes through the gates will have ahd the same feelings as you will, just relax and let things flow.

    See you there;)

I know of a person who passed everything bar the medical! His eye sight failed him but apparently it isn’t that bad!

Now he’s getting laser eye surgery and has to sit out for twelve months and then he will attempt to rejoin but don’t know what campaign that will be! I wear glasses sometimes but hope my vision won’t be my downfall!
    Hi Ciaran

I know you posted this a while bac but I'm in same problem as you I wear glasses to drive etc and was gutted when I seen campaign 13 eyesight standards cos I knew I definitely didn't meet them but then when campaign 14 started I noticed they had changed and was so excited that I could then apply. But since then I've been freaking out cos not sure if I really do meet them. What confuses me is the whole (if visual aids are used must have 6/12 or better in best eye) is this aided or unaided!!!!! I've been trying to contact occ health in seapark as directed by recruitment and was given extension number but as yet have been unable to get them at their desk!!! its drivin me crazy not knowing!!!!!! Really want this!!!!!!!

The written exercise consists of four questions based on the role you were given that day. ie you are a manager of a restaurant and mr smith has complained about the bad service of the waiting staff, what are you going to do??Same type of questions in the interview as well except you put it into words. In the written exercise you get four of these questions and have 30 mins to finish. But dont worry about the a/c just yet.

Hi shane hope the hangover has cleared up:D No word on may yet but i would say no one will hear for a least another week since they usually give around 4 to 5 weeks notice, and the may intake is 7 weeks away. The waiting is a killer. I would say you are looking good for it anyway with your pool number.

I know police do not require a certificate for there PPW. I think that prison staff do.

Does anybody know what is the reality of "specific threat" instead of "occupational" risk in reagards to the issue of PPW to new applicant prison staff.

I know this aint strictly a ploice recruitment thing but a friend asked and this is only place i know where someone might have an idea.

I mean surely all recruits to prison service deserve the same protection as other security professionals?

I have read NIPS firearms policy and it quite similar to police, everyone with PPW requires training first and a test yearly, including maintenance etc....even after reading this im not sure what the criteria for PPW is for prison staff...

If you prefer to PM on the matter then thats fine...

Thanks Jim. Yea i just wanted a basic idea, out of curiosity. I have a friend who says she didnt have a verbal interview. No idea why that could have been...

Hi Maura, its a situational interview where you go into a room infront of two examiners and are asked 4 questions based on the role you were given that day. Your friend probably means there was no formal interview,as in "so tell me why you would make a good police officer" There is nothing like that at all.

ahh i see. hopefully ill have to tackle that aspect of the process some day.

I have to say it looks like you have an advantage in the AC if you can act. though im sure you are credited for 'being yourself'. If 'yourself' is a helpful & quick thinking person :)

STRESSING the dress code can be whatever you want, though first impressions count, on the sunday you actualy start it will be suit for blokes and smart casual for women.

GEMMA1984 its all over in a couple of hours, they will give you a chat about a few things, give you some literature etc. Cant say much online but you wont be expected to jump through hoops.......well not yet anyway!:D

    Hi everyone,
I've applied for C14 and I'm just wondering how many hours of studying your getting in per day? I would study for an hour a night, Do you think this is enough?
Don't want to mess up the chance of my dream job.
