    Hi Everyone,

I got a letter this morning inviting me to a Medical in a couple of weeks, It stated that i was moving to the next stage of the competition...does that mean i have passed the vetting?

I scored 52/70 in the AC which but in the late 300's in the merit pool, should i remain optimistic if i pass the medical??

Thanks, and well done to everyone for getting this far

It's away now PapaYankeeGirl. There will be plenty at your test, you'll not be alone. Good luck with it. JVB

Well Done Steve. You have every reason to be optimistic, Getting a date for your medical can only be a good thing.

I dont think it means you have passed vetting, as most people get invited to medicals while their vetting is still being done. although if your vetting was sent off a few months it could well be complete but the only people who can say for sure are the Psni themselves.

    Good luck!!

I just caved and made the fatal mistake of ringing up to enquire about my vetting!! To be told it is still ongoing! I just can't understand it, I have a small family and I am the oldest, all very well behaved....

I was right, I now have more questions and am more stressed than before I phoned!!!

How long has it been since you sent it away?

It can take up to a year remember.

Are you serious, has there been instances where it has taken a year to vet someone??

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 721 ✭✭✭goodcopbadcop

Yes I think so. Although they were from the south of Ireland so it took longer due to that. If you have alot of family members or lived in many addresses, there are more things to look into and it can take longer.

Not saying everyones vetting takes a year, but it is a lengthy process.

Well i have 11 addresses mostly military camp address and one military overseas address, so could take sometime, however i worked as civilian staff for the psni and the vetting didnt take that long but i wouldnt think it iwas as stringent

I sent it away at the end of December, I only have 2 younger sisters and from the north! The only thing I can think is that I have a few uni addresses as does my younger sister, as a family we have only lived in four houses!

I was just really mad yesterday because I had gotten my hopes up for May intake, but at this rate it might not happen! I just hope they get it sorted in the next couple of weeks! The guy I spoke to couldn't even tell me any reason, just that it was ongoing, very disheartening! :(

Hang on in there buddy! I'm sure you are sick of people saying that but it is all you can do

I presume you have had your medical? Some peeps are only getting called for their medical now! What a long wait!

I have had all my boxes ticked (including vetting) for 3 weeks now and still aint heard a thing. Still playing that old waiting game :(

All us old campaign 13ers are right there with you ;)

speaking of people waiting to get a medical, I am in that box! Even If i do get a date I will have another long stretch of waiting ahead of me, and even after that may still not get in. :(

And campaign 14 beginning for me very soon as well, its a foggy path im walking down here lol

    Know the feeling! :(

Ideally i would like to have the final conclusion to campaign 13 (be it good or bad) before going for the initial selection test for campaign 14. If i knew one way or the other i would be able to sit my IST with a clear head and be 100% focused on the new campaign

Right now i am in limbo land :pac:

I know what you mean. Worst thing that could happen would be not to take this new campaign serious enough and fail the IST and then get a letter saying you are not being taken in for campaign 13 either. Im getting on the ball now.

My IST isn't until May but i will be practicing my sums soon enough!

I never find anything that directly helps you practice for these tests. Did some verbal reasoning on a website I found, and did the consensia practice ones, but i think the best thing is just to get a good nights sleep before it and keep your mind sharp as you can. Theres nothing on the tests you cant work out its just a matter of being quick to think. :D

Very true but i need to bring my brain up to speed and get my mind ticking. Last year i did some number puzzles and practiced doing some basic maths questions (which is probably my weakest point) I found it did wonders!

I haven't done any sort of maths since good old GCSE days and that was like 6 years ago!!

That and redbull lol - i swear by redbull before exams ;)

well good luck for it anyways, hopefully you wont need to do the test anyway, who knows. Mine is less than two weeks away so I will definitely be back at it, but you might get a call between now and your test.

Glad those of you who attended the SRN night on monday enjoyed it. Hope you are all reding your defifnitions;). I was the guy standing in the reception area showing you all into the assembly hall.

Yes some of you are right by saying that the trainers are supportive, but alot of your learning is your responsibility also. If in doubt of anything then just ask your fellow student squads. Greens will keep you right;)

If any of you who are startin soon need info PM me over the next 24 hours

    Hi Everyone!

Can I ask a question re the vetting?

Do we have to write down every single address we have ever lived at for the last 20 years?

I have moved about so much in the last 10 years, plus been travelling all over Europe.....so how do I go about filling out all that info, plus all of the addresses I have forgotten over the years?!!

Hi, i done the test twice and on both occasions i changed the date. But make sure you have a good reason( which you do) and call asap so that they can fit you in for another date. Best of luck with it:cool:
