you are supposed to install the app support patch for 1.1.3 and leave it installed, mine was working before i went up to 1.1.4(and still is with the 1.1.4 patch), have you got your country set to ireland in the settings? settings-general-international -region-ireland?

    Hi amandac,

I only uninstalled the patch as it wasn't working properly. Reinstalling it hasn't helped either. My region is correctly set under 'Region Format'. Still running 1.1.3 with AppSupport Patch 1.1.3.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

ive noticed sometimes if you have a que in installer the apps dont work properly, try uninstalling, reinstalling and clear the que first(if you have one)

If I got an iphone from the US and unlocked it to use as an PAYG 087 SIM, apart from call & text costs is there any additional costs? I read somewhere about a cost for data, I'm unsure what the "data" relates to

Does anyone if can you unlock an iphone on the same PC that was used to legitimally activate it? I'm trying to unlock 1.1.4 but ZiPhone can't find the phone at all.

DATA IS IF YOU ARE USING THE INTERNET OVER EDGE, AS OPPOSED TO WI FI,IF YOU ARE SURFING THE NET WHEN YOU ARE NOT CONNECTED TO A WIRELESS NETWORK YOU WILL BE CHARGED A CERTAIN AMOUNT PER KB, IF YOU ARE ON A BILL PAY CONTRACT YOU CAN ADD A DATA ADD ON FOR A CERTAIN AMOUNT A MONTH, OR PAYG ITS UAUALLY 1-3 CENT PER KB

dont use ziphone, it will downgrade your bootloader, use iplus, its much safer, you have to restore the phone to 1.1.4 before unlocking

Thanks for the reply Amanda. I did use iPlus initially and it seemed to unlock but I found that the YouTube widget didn't work afterwards ("Can't connect to YouTube"). Is this normal? Is there a workaround?

I bought an O2 iPhone last week, so I presume that I don't need to "unlock" it, but I would like to jailbreak it.
So, what do I do??

whats the nearest geographical location to buy an iphone without being asked questions or signing a contract ?
    cdebru wrote: »
Newry probably depending on your geographical location

Looking at his profile info just next to his post I believe his location is Kildare ...

But seriously, is there any way to buy one in Dublin or in the north without a contract?

Right, made contact with Stephen and he apologised for the confusion. They have stopped trading but they WILL be honouring warranties as they are obliged to do. The information currently on their website is inaccurate and will be updated later today.

On a happy note for me Stephen managed to talk me through getting my phone up and running again so I didn't actually need to return it.

He also mentioned he has no relationship with the other company though they are with the same host.

Can someone have a look on their O2 iphone and tell me if there what i need to enter for the following settings

    General / Network / Edge

    APN
    Username
    Password

My Edge has stopped working, "Could not Activate EDGE", i'm assuming and hoping this is the problem

    **Scratch that, i found it**

    APN - internet
    Username - user
    Password - blank

    thankfully it was my problem...

    You just need to jailbreak

so do not use the full iplus there is a version of iplus that just jailbreaks and activates

You might need to restore the phone and not let itunes activate it then run this

hopefully i won't have to switch off Edge, don't want to lose the data functions on the phone when i'm out and about...we'll see how the downgrade works..

Switched Edge back on yday and no sign of any 9011 texts just yet!!! So that doesnt seem to be the cause! Are they still sending from your phone???

I'm on O2 PAYG also.... What method did u use to unlock? I used ziphone 2.5 to activate & jailbreak and 2.4 to unlock.... Trying to figure out what we did in common to source the problem. Someone else had the same problem around the same time as me and they reckon'd it was ziphone that was the problem!

Did downgrading to 1.1.3 solve the problem?

Thanks for the reply cd. I think my problem is iTunes is activating it legitimally everytime I restore.

I want to unlock it so I can give the phone to someone else as a present. From what I can gather, this is what needs to happen:

    1) Unplug my internet connection
    2) Put phone into recovery mode
    3) Restore to 1.1.4 via iTunes (using 1.1.4 image on disk)
    4) Run iPlus to unlock, activate, and jailbeak
    5) Run youtube activator 1.1.4 (do i need to add a specific source to installer for this or does iplus add it automatically?)

Is there anything glaringly missing from the above?

hey moorele...i haven't had any since downgrading to 1.1.3, did that last nite at around 8pm....hopefully its sorted....

between 9pm on 15/3 and 8pm 18/3, i had 61 of those messages sent, cost me €15 , i only did 1 restore to 1.1.4 on the 15th, no others in between

i unlocked with ziphone 2.6c, unfortunately i clicked "Do it all", so i think i f*cked my bootloader :o, i'll worry about that another day

on another point, i only noticed today that on PAYG, the charge for data is 1C per 1K, thats €1 per mb  ...hadn't realsied it was that steep...

you could try using an earlier version of itunes, i know the one i use says when you restore that i need to update itunes to a newer version to activate, ill check what version i have and get back to you, its worth a shot

    Folks,

I have an iphone bought in the States, on 1.1.3, unlocked successfully without any issues using iplus.

As it's on 1.1.3, working happily, I'm loath to update it to 1.1.4 unless there's something in the update that makes it worth having. Do people feel it's worth it, and if so why?

If I do decide to to the update, are the steps as follows:

    * Update to 1.1.4 in iTunes (or restore?)
    * re-run iplus to activate, jailbreak & unlock

    Thanks in advance

Hey guys, upgraded from 1.1.3 to 1.1.4 using iPlus 2.0 and international payload, everything seems to be working fine bar adding bookmarks to the home screen, when I do I get this message could not add this page to the home screen because an error occurred is there any fix for this? Have tried restarting the iPhone with no luck.

    Did you upgrade or restore

This seems to crop up if you update to 1.1.4 rather than restore to it

or if you restore to it and then sync your backup from itunes

The solution is to restore then setup the phone as a new phone you lose all your messages etc

Aparently this is quite a common problem and it not only affects you web clips but your notes and camera roll aswell. I found the solution below just in case anyone else has any issues:

I just brought back an iphone from the States over the weekend. I used ijailbreak and the phone runs firmware 1.1.4. I also had to make a small cut my Vodafone SIM to get it to slot into the phone. Everything works perfectly EXCEPT that there's an echo on the other persons side whenever I'm on a call. I looked at a lot of postings on other sites but can't find anything that works. I'm beginning to think either the iphone won't work properly on Voda IE or the handset is a dud. Any suggestions?

Actually if your phone is official on o2 you do not need or want to unlock so just use the link i gave you for the jailbreak

Yes that is it if you disconnect from the internet itunes will not be able to activate the phone

You may not need to run youtube activator most of the time it just works

some users, including myself have had issues with international texts being sent to 9011 @ 25c a go, after upgrading to 1.1.4....i rolled back to 1.1.3 because of this, don't see any differance to be honest
