I am getting signal but as you say the phone crashes when dialing. I was able to listen to a vioce mail on it okay. when dialing the number i manage to dial one number and then the phone goes back into main menu. I used the mac based ZiPhone. You say that i need to install app support and bsd subsystem and install community sources but i dont know what you mean by this

    thanks

Do you have installer on your phone

if yes open it then go to install then go to all packages then install BSD then install community sources then app support 1.1.3 or whatever version matches your firmware

My iphone was on 1.1.1 but I have now successfully upgraded to 1.1.4. Before restoring just remember to sync the iphone with itunes so a backup will be created (this means that after you restore with itunes and unlock with ziphone itunes will re-sync everything back onto your phone including text messages, settings, and most other data).
The initial restore took about 6 minutes, the ziphone unlock worked fine- lasting about 2 minutes and then the re-sync of back up data took about 10-15mins but it's worth it as my iphone is exactly the same as I left it before the iphone- everything is there including sms, email, safari history etc.
Everything is working perfectly incl youtube, stocks, weather etc.

Don't know why people ask for advise then just ignore it.

You asked is Ziphone safe and I told you it wasn't why bother asking.

For anyone who is interested in why Ziphone is unsafe there are a couple of reasons

1 it performs the unlock from a ramdisk

2 on 4.6BL phones it downgrades the bootloader to a version of 3.9 that you cannot get back from

3 when mistakes in his code are pointed out to him he refuses to fix them and actually does not seem to understand the mistake or his "own" code.

First of all my iPhone and my brothers were not 4.6bl versions so it was much safer, I looked around the Internet loads and found no one with my firmware version having trouble with ziphone. It is by far the easiest method, the programme you linked me to was not very user friendly and you actually needed to use terminal. I am grateful for your advice but I took the risk as I didn't see any real evidence that it was dangerous with MY firmware and bootloader version.
Of course I wouldn't recommend ziphone to people with newer than 1.1.1 firmware versions but for my bootloader version it is by far the easiest way and my iPhone is working perfectly now. I don't understand why you're mad at me?

To Tanabe re the ringtones -

I can make ringtones easily enough out of any audio with Garageband cos I'm on a Mac, but if you're on Windows with QT pro you can do it by opening any audio file with QT pro, trimming to 30 secs, export to mpeg-4 and file format MP4, in options/audio choose AAC-LC(Music), 128 kbps, stereo or mono, sample rate 44.100kHz (max), encoding quality - any.
When you've saved that change the extension from mp4 to m4r and drag into itunes or more specifically the ringtone section of the library. If it imports into the ringtones section you know pretty much that it'll play ok on the iPhone.
Actually looking at mine again, I've some at 40 secs so that must be the limit.

having issues with edge on my iphone

I had this problem on 1.1.3 and thought that upgrading it to 1.1.4 might solve it. Sadly, it hasn't.

Everytime I input the edge settings on my iphone ie. APN. It just returns to the main home screen.

Has anyone had this problem before?

    Any solutions?

Ok I presume you are on wifi and have an internet connection

If yes then go to uninstall and reinstall the installer then try BSD first etc

    I'm not mad

Just because something is the easier does not make it better in fact the opposite is usually true.

Just remember the reason your brother had to virginize was because of bad code that risked bricking his phone on an upgrade it makes no sense to me that anyone would then put their phone in the hands of Zibri when they have already been warned that it is not good but its your phone just don't waste my time asking advise if your going to do the opposite.

    Your welcome

Thats the problem people read a post where it says Ziphone worked for me and think it is OK.
Most people particularly people who just got an iphone have no idea about bootloaders and basebands and ramdisks and all that stuff.

Its a issue with 1.1.4 on UK iphones with an O2 sim a couple of people here have had it. Not sure if there is a solution other than perhaps downgrading to 1.1.3.

Although I thought it only sent 8 texts and stopped unless you restore the phone then it does it again

Hi all, anyone hear from unlockthatiphone recently? I sent a few emails a couple of weeks back and haven't heard anything. I've tried Stephens mobile but it's disconnected and I tried the 021 number and it's engaged all the time.

I thought they had a fantastic service at the beginning. Their delays were always due to unlocking issues or delivery issues and thats life. Anyhow my iphone is now dead. I was happily chatting away and now the screen is blank and it doesn't ring but if you call it you think it is ringing on the other end. None of the buttons do anything and I've tried charging it and plugging it into a PC. You can access it from a PC but the screen stays dead.

Anyhow I figured I might as well send it back since it's still under warrenty and I haven't made any changes since I received it.

Has sent one back for repair yet? I have the Wilton address and the PAIRC NA GCAPALL address but I'd rather get a returns number before just sticking it in the post.

Has anyone had a successful repair yet?

    Thanks, JP

    Many thanks

    Did you upgrade or restore

This seems to crop up if you update to 1.1.4 rather than restore to it

or if you restore to it and then sync your backup from itunes

The solution is to restore then setup the phone as a new phone you lose all your messages etc

    Folks,

I bought an iphone last week in the US, and got it working without any bother using iplus 2.0 - thanks to assistance from cdebru.

The only issue I'm having is that the phone numbers are stored in different formats:

    some are +353 87xxxxxxx
    some are +35387xxxxxxx

Is this an issue in Outlook (where my contacts are stored) or on the phone? It recognises the number for text messages but does not bring up the number when a call comes through.

    I'm using a PC, and running 1.1.3.

    Any assistance gratefully received.
