ok got my phone into restore mode and want to go back to 1.1.2, i know how to do it, just go to itunes and click shift+restore but i don't know which firmware to download if it makes a difference?

i've had to dirty my macbook, i've installed windows on it now just because jailbreaking/updating/restoring guides all seem to be based for windows users.

i'm downloading iPhone1,1_1.1.2_3B48b_Restore.ipsw but is it the right file?

just wasn't sure because of the random hex values at the end of the filename.

i'm re-doing the 1.1.2 jailbreak process as we speak.

Yep, I just did Nate's update to 1.1.3 on my week 40, 1.1.1 OTB iPhone, which I had previously updated to 1.1.2, using the Mac method, hung on the installer section for about 35 minutes, then I unplugged the iphone from the mac and things started happening, rebooted into 1.1.3, wiggly stuff, working on Vodafone, had to uninstall all my 3rd party apps, then re-install them again.
    Q.

LocateMe just pinpointed my location, just on the other side of the street. I'm in the city centre so that's probably why it's so accurate here.

By the way, I've used 4 NextSims now, 3 out of the four worked. One going back.

I just want to rectify my mistake. O2 UK sims seem to be particular to individual iPhones so it was my mistake copying the information off the wrong O2 UK sim to the NextSIM.
Lesson of the story: If you're doing more than one phone don't mix up the original SIMS.

back to 1.1.2 with stealthsim installed.

1.1.3 can suck donkey dick for all i'm concerned (well at the moment at least).

want to say thanks to all who helped me in this thread, i won't name names (cliche i know) but you's know who you are.

    what an idiot.

got my stealthsim today and everything worked on 1.1.2 jailbroken phone.

seeing that a mac jailbreak was released i downloaded it and everything went well until the "go to installer app and install 1.1.3 soft upgrade" part which i did i let it install and the phone rebooted itself, it got stuck on the apple logo for about 20 minutes before i got fed up and now it's still stuck like that.

i've tried going into restore mode (home and the power button then let go of home when the screen goes blank) and it doesn't work.

    anyone any ideas?

Did you get it from unlockthatiphone.com? I'm here waiting by the letter box...due in the next hour...or not...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,449 ✭✭✭✭Creamy Goodness

    yup from unlockthatiphone.com

came in a normal letter envelope which i tore down the side and peaked in, the fecker wasn't there, i was like ffs where's me stealthsim. i then looked in the bit i tore and the stealthsim was snuggly in that part :D

Firstly, what state is your iphone in? If 1.1.2 OTB, was it downgraded to 1.1.1, jailbreaked, oktoprep installed and run, upgraded to 1.1.2 and 1.1.2 jailbreaked?

Is it USA or UK iPhone?

If you try your sim and xsim in another phone what happens?

I know it sounds stupid but make sure you have them in the right way! & double check that the chips are both touching!

yeh make sure it's the right way round.

the sim should be facing up the way on the sim tray with the tiny rectangle you cut out in the bottom left hand corner of the tray. then the stealthsim goes on top of that with the little chip on the stealthsim going where the little bit you cut out of the sim goes.

    then just slide it in.

i remember reading that the old stealthsims were thicker and the newer ones (the ones from unlockthatiphone.com) well the stealthsim is thin but christ i wouldn't of like to try and fit an old one on top of the sim into the iphone. the thin one makes it in, just.

    1) If any of the mods read this, any chance of a dedicated iPhone forum with relevant subforums to make it easier for everyone ?

    2) Any information/plans for 3rd party bluetooth development? e.g. Bluetooth DUN or PAN would be a nice way of getting 3G speed to iPhone for those of us who carry around more than one phone

    Best suggest it here...

On another note, my iPhone is sending texts again.. Happened when I got into town, had full coverage n was able to send texts. I read that a few people in the states have had problems with sending texts in areas with low coverage.

If thats the case i'm buggered when i'm at home as coverage is crap... Only get it when i'm upstairs..

Well if you have a Vodafone, O2 etc SIM, itself and the xsim together in another phone should work as per normal, if not there is either something wrong with the xsim or they are not lined up, bad connection etc

need some help sorting out my iphone guys...
    • it's got 1.0 firmware, modem version 3.12.06_G
    • i jailbroke and unlocked it when i bought it about 6mths ago
    • i want to upgrade to the latest firmware that allows me to easily unlock and jailbreak it, 1.1.2 i think
    • i tried to virginize it so that i could complete the upgrade using the unlockthatiphone site, but when trying to install apptap the program would hang on "stage 4" and not install onto the iphone..
    • i also tried to just update to 1.1 without virginizing but after going through the whole process successfully, 1.0 remains on the iphone..
    • now the iphone is locked and unactivated with 1.0 firmware

    ..what to do?

if anyone is willing to help me through the process of getting it sorted, it would be greatly appreciated..

Dan, i remember reading something about this on hackint0sh.. I think you have to add your contact's twice, i.e. in 087 and +353 87 formats, because the phone recognises them as seperate number!

I could be wrong, but try adding your own number in both formats and txt yourself.. see what happens.

Right thats it forget it...just cracked the stealth sim in half try to get it into the iphone again (think i damaged it on the meteor phone).
Any hope of a software fix any time soon for 1.1.2 phones (remember seeing some posts saying one on way) or better off trying to get another stealth/turbo/xsim card (and from where that I can get quick and cheapish)?

yeah unfortunately it recognises it as 2 different numbers so texts to 087xxxxxxxx are in one conversation and texts from +35387xxxxxx are in another
