The next 5 days at least looking like continuing Calm and Sunny with today being the coolest and cloudiest of the lot.

Tomorrow (Wednesday) Temperatures will rise as high as 17c inland with good long hours of sunshine and a reduction in the cool breeze along Eastern coasts.

Thursday looks like being a real belter with the chance of the temperature tipping 19c for the first time this year, generally though temperatures of between 15-17c countrywide will make it feel very very pleasent.

More of the same will continue through until Sunday but with perhaps a slight breakdown by the new week although certainly not set in stone ;)

    A whole 4 degree's warmer than elsewhere...
Dolan must be in a heat pocket/frost pocket.

I see Dub airport is at 15c now with a west wind where as here it is still north east at 10 to 15mph off the sea and a temp of 10.4c
Though the sun is lovely it feels wintry and a whole 8c colder than dolan baker.

Very warm here, the wind has died on its arse and it makes all the difference in April! Freezing tonight though

    Mike.

"April Showers" where? Great start to the month and no sign of showers on the horizon.
Good heat in that sun and max temp i got was 16.9c.
More than 10hrs so far of sunshine.
With a total of 13hrs of sunshine for this date it may be close.

Max temp 12.7C here today:( and that was half an hour ago when the sea breeze finally died down for around 20 minutes

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,033 ✭✭✭Snowbie

Was at 4pm when recorded max also when onshore wind died down.Dropped very quickly after sundown.

He had a high of +19.7 and a low of -1.6

That must be close to some sort of record - is it??

Dunno about records, but Aboyne in Scotland had a min of -1.8C and a max of 20.5C:eek:

You've no idea what kind of exposure that sensor has. There is quite a bit of heat in the sun and if the sensor has any sort of shelter from the breeze, the temp can shoot up. I've seen it with my own sensor in past. It was slightly too near a hedge and despite being only a few metres from Stevenson screen, could record a max 2C higher.

Aboyne often has huge range under clear sky followed by a foehn wind, but no foehn wind in Athlone.

    And similar to others,
my max was well into evening just before 1800gmt, or 7pm. 12.9C

    Max at Dubin AP 16.1C
    Casement 15.8C

Mothman - I'm watching your station to see if you get higher than me today!

BTW - Is your station an hour behind or is that just the GMT time display?

Weather at Ashford Co. Wicklow Ireland
    on 05/04/07 at 9:25 GMT

Do I need to put GMT in red? ;)

The bar across the top mentions summer time.
Record April diurnal range of 15.8C will certainly go today.

I'm going to rue saying that, temp may stay below 14C, that's a cool breeze I feel.

    lagging behind in the easterly.

    13.2C, still rising though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,033 ✭✭✭Snowbie

    Now falling back to 13.8c.

Try 11c here in the Easterly

I suppose it's a small price to pay for the more frequent snow showers :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,310 ✭✭✭Trogdor

Gone dead still here now. temp has risen to 13.6C:D.
Tristrame, more frequent snow showers are not much good if the heat off the sea is preventing the snow from sticking anyway;)

Won't happen here, it's too hazy.

    now 10.8C and falling.

Kilkenny won't have reached 19C. Quite possibly something like 17.6C rounded to 18C for the 15z reading.

At 16z, plenty of 17s across country.

falling here too from the spectactular heighs of 12c (briefly)

    Now 10.9c

Incidently I was almost as cold as artictree up in roundwood last night.
The min here was 0.8c with a massive white ground frost.

Mothman You had your usual frost pocket sub zero ness of course :D

Incidently did you have much ice at -1.3c?

Max of 15.7c thats 1.3c lower than yesterdays high.

I might add in case it wasn't noticed I was being sarcastic regarding my spectacular high...

Dub airport peaked at 16c at 2pm

    heres the half-hourly stats

Casement is practically the same with a 2c drop when they got the weak sea breeze at 3pm

    Tristrame wrote:

The place was white before sun got going. It was sub zero for 4 1/2 hours.

No ice as such, just frost on the ground.
