Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I think the last few months gig wise in Cork have been pretty brutal, and now usually october and november are pretty good but personally I don't see a whole lot that i'd be into in that list. Saw Four Tet support Radiohead a few years ago, definitely wouldn't be my cup of tea. Where are the indie groups and international singer songwriters? Bands i would like to have seen The Delays and The Zutons are doing Irish tours but skipping Cork. Sufjan Stevens plays the Village, i thought he could have been a candidate for a Cork date but no unfortunately. I'll have to settle again for the local (Irish or Cork acts) and the familiar (acts that play here a lot) brigade....

Exit: pursued by a bear - Procession E.P. Launch
    Friday 3rd March,
An Cruiscin Lan, Douglas Street Cork.

In January's Hot Press exit: pursued by a bear have been named as one
of the 10 Irish bands to be "Hot for 2006". Here's what the magazine
    had to say:
"One of the stars of the recent Cork Rocks series of showcases,
Leeside five-piece Exit:Pursued by a Bear sound of all things like
Mogwai jamming with the Waterboys. With songs that flit from soft
acoustic moments to thunderous post-rock,they take the quiet/loud
    formula to intriguing new vistas."

Exit: pursued by a bear count political and social satirists and
expositors of sin, William Langland and Dante Alighieri as influences
as well as the life and times of Jesus of Nazareth, James Joyless and
other handsome radicals. The music, which began as a direct response
to a series of uncomfortable silences and lulls in conversation has
become the soundtrack to an investigation of the human condition.
Every time the group meets it feels like a landmark in thinking, let
alone music. Exit: pursued by a bear ring their collective tongue
around the circumference of human experience, cleansing the anima and
    drowning the persona.

The group have attracted interest from A and R people (Amish and
Rastafarians) from both home and abroad, but are presently cautious
about erecting any specific cultural or religious flag to their
metaphorical mast. In short, the group are not quite ready to lay
    themselves bare.

Cork band Kilterr launch their new EP “Reel Me In For Kicks” on Saturday 4th of March at Cork venue, Cyprus Avenue. The release will be available in Virgin Records and Plug’d Records in Cork and a selection of record shops all over the Ireland.

2005 saw the band build on a loyal following through gigging and the release of their promo CD. The band has gained a reputation for high-energy Indie Rock and a powerful live show. Kilterr were featured on Freak FM’s highly acclaimed Freakualizer compilation CD as well as playing the IMRO Showcase Tour 2005 to a very positive response from both press and A&R representatives. In October 2005 Kilterr’s “What about me?” Reached number 2 in the Irish unsigned MP3 charts at www.cpu.ie

    Evening Echo:
“Prowling hardcore bass lines, buzzing guitars and angry impassioned vocals."
    "…bursts of power pop"
    Hot Press:
"The bands great knack for infectious melodies will take them places"

Formed in Cork, Ireland December 2003, Kilterr quickly built a reputation as a powerful live act playing with the likes of The Pale, The Marshals and Alphastates. The band quickly built up a loyal following and played their first headline gig at Cork’s Cyprus Avenue.

Kilterr have a unique sound, coming from diverse musical backgrounds with a taste of many genres including rock, metal, indie and punk and some say even a Celtic taste... Along with the distinctive driving rhythm section which is key to the Kilterr sound, Barry John Maher’s crunching guitar and expressive vocals are joined by piano to colour the energetic sound giving the wall of sound its final touches.

Other promotional gigs for “Reel Me In For Kicks” include Kilterr playing support to Ginseng on Mar 24th in The Hub Dublin where Ginseng will be launching their single ‘She Screams’.

    Paddys Day- Los Langeros

    An Cruiscin Lan
    9:00 pm
    Admission 8

Corks own kings of countrified punk ska hillbilly trash return to the live scene with both a new line up and a new EP.
After a hectic year which saw them play the Electric Picnic and Spraoi festival as well as touring extensively both Ireland and the UK Los Langeros
were forced to an abrupt halt by a near fatal car crash which put their
drummer Ben Jammin out of action. With bassist Gary From The Pub choosing
early retirement in the face of such adversity, the gnarled heart of Los
Langeros (The Nodge, Pedro Dolphino and Phil Langero) went to ground for
nearly half a year writing and recording new material whilst awaiting a
rythm section of suitable callibre to rear its head. With the arrival of
Jordano(drums) and Joe(bass) the time is right for further langeration.
The new EP, 'Killing Frogs', to be launched on Paddys night accuarately
reflects this period of flux and transition in their ranks featuring as it
does tracks recorded with the original line up ('Killing Frogs' & 'Surf
Zombie') and the new line up ('Layby Song' and 'Very Interesting 2') and
more experimental material recorded by the gnarled heart inbetween ('White
    Witch' and 'Velvet Crab').

The band will launch the EP at the Cruiscin Lan in Cork on Paddys night in
their first headline gig in over half a year. Expect high energy madness
from the group one dubbed 'the ultimate good time party band'.

Support on the night will be Kerry sex metallers Ten Past Seven and the mighty Captain Hotknives.
