Lioness, an Amy Winehouse tribute are playing in the Everyman Sunday night, €26.
Saw them in Dublin last year and they were very good, well worth going in if you liked Amy's music. Songs from both Frank and Back To Black.

Come join us on our opening night for a screening of Dirty Dancing, this Thursday July 19th at 8 PM.
    rebel-reads-presents-Dirty-dancing-768x432.jpg

Has Dirty Dancing been one of your "guilty pleasures"? Well feel guilty no more!! We will discuss how it is indeed a feminist masterpiece. It takes on class, feminism, sex, rape and abortion and it celebrates a strong female lead character.

After the short discussion we will watch the movie, sing along to our favourite songs and maybe even dance?

    BYOB/BYOW
Feel free to bring a drink for yourself but please bring home all of your rubbish with you.

Free to members or suggested donation €5

I was at night 1 of the Cork Proms - Beatles Orchestral tribute last night, and it was immense. The 2nd and last night is tonight and, looking online, there are still about 25 tickets available. Do yourself a favour and go. You have a ca. 25 piece Orchestra, the band Rowan, as well as individual singers Wallis Bird, Jack O'Rourke, Christiana Underwood and Emma Nash (operatic voice) all taking turns to front the songs - which were themselves all special arrangements for the night. Very possibly the best gig I was ever at with Jack O'Rourke's "I get by with a little help from my friends" in the style of Joe Cocker, with all that backing singer power and a full orchestra, being the highlight (closely followed by a spine tingling "A day in the life"). Heartiest congrats to everyone involved. I booked tickets to go with parents at 4pm yesterday, delighted I did and parents had their best night out in years.
