I don't eat any flavoured yoghurt so maybe that is why I found them so sweet. I've tried the flavoured protein yoghurts before & I just feel ill eating them.

How did you find the sugar detox?

I've fallen off the wagon and I think I've put on 3lb in a week. Feck.

I suppose that's the point of a journey to get a few loop de loops in..

I actually found it reasonably straightforward. I dont really have much of a sweet tooth normally, but had eaten way more sweet things than normal over Christmas so by the time I needed to get my act together I was actually glad of a reason to cut out sugar. I never use it in tea/coffee anyway so it really just meant cutting out junk for the most part.

I'm actually now at the stage were plain porridge with a small drop of no added sugars almond milk tastes reasonably sweet to me.

I've no doubt that I'll start having the odd little treat again but will do my best to not overindulge and spoil all the good work.

The good news is there is little chance you ate enough to gain 3lbs. It’s most likely water retention and bloatingness. It’ll come off no problem.

Just finished a 36 hour fast so the drop today is mainly water. With the current situation I am trying hard to avoid comfort eating.

The fast isnt really a weight loss thing, though I am sure it could help, my wife does it once a month and it just easier if we both do it. We have done 48 hours before but neither were feeling it. The thing is my wife eats normal the day after breaking the fast, I'm sure I eat more in that day than I would have in the fasting period.

Quick check in, from 99.7kg on 23 Feb 26 this morning I am 89kg. It's flipping killed me, as I can't run etc. its been diet and lifting weights. I havent cut out the booze, I have cut down. So that explains why its has taken me twice the time to loose the same weight as I did four years ago, that and age.

My goal is 82kg, I wanted to be there before I fly on holidays, which is now four weeks away so zero chance of that. I will keep on trucking.

I got the fitbit air last week and absolutely love it. I may even have to bin off google sheets and just geek out on Google health (its linked to my fitness pal also which is handy).

    Suppose will start with myself.

After a period of sh*t training and now I cannot train until I get sorted with something medical I have gone up to 81kg from 73kg...

Issue wasn't the diet so much as the training reduced so much.

70k of running and 110k of cycling plus 2 gym sessions slowly became 40/80, 20/40 and now cannot do anything at all.

Want to be back to 73-75kg range by end of year.

My problem is that I still have my appetitite from when I could actually train. Managing the hunger is the hardest part.

I am just going to believe that those kms are yearly stats……

Your last line is me. I used to train 4 nights a week with gym in the morning, then a game at the weekend. They I got too old/broken to play but my appetite stayed the same. That was a decade ago. About to hit mid 40s now and I eat 25% of what I used to eat and its a bloody struggle to loose weight.

With your weight and KMs you have done there's no training advice you need from another elf, but I have always found fizzy water keeps the hunger at bay. I bought a soda stream type thing and it works great….especially for cocktails.

Good man @Jude13 great to see a positive swing there.

Personally, I've basically given up on looking after myself, with work commitments & family life I pretty much have zero time for myself & that's starting to have an effect. My last bloods in January showed my cholesterol was up, not massively but it had topped the scale & needed addressing, which has been done mostly via diet & cutting out the junk. So whilst technically I am eating healthier I have gotten into the habit of a few beers each weekend to unwind and thats just dead calories (tasty ones, but worthless nontheless)

My weight hasn't increased, its actually gone down about 3kg but I know the stress is getting to me with other symptoms & I really need to start looking at getting a better work/life balance or I am goosed. No exercise & sat at a desk for 12 hours 5 days pw is not ideal.

Heading away on hols tomorrow week for 10 nights and given I've missed no work since christmas I have recognised that I'm borderline burnt out & need that break badly. I'm in my mid 50's now and really should be taking better care of myself but running your own business is hard, time consuming & very stressful about 80% of the time. My retirement target is 60, but being honest if i can hit my pension target before then will step away, otherwise I'd be genuinely concerned that something bad could happen out of the blue.

If only life could slow down!!

Those were weekly which makes it where am now all the more depressing...

Might try the fizzy water - nothing I do seems to quell the hunger except eating what I used to eat but eating in a calorie surplus for months on end is what caused the stone and a bit to get put on..

@DvB I hope you can rest during your holiday and get back to feeling a bit better in yourself. Work-related stress is no joke and very hard to turn around.

@DvB hope it pics up for you, you're a whipper snapper. Stress is a killer for weight and just a killer in general. I can only dream of retiring at 60. 2008/2009 did number on me and though I have lived abroad about 17 years they were not great earning years. Also not being allowed to contribute to the state pension like UK. It annoys me to no end when people say the UAE is tax free. It is income tax free, if you ignore 9% being a tax. We also pay as expats 'tourist tax', 'happiness tax' yes a real thing , 'Municipality Housing Fee' 'Dubai land department fee', which as EU2k a quarter alone, 'Knowledge and Innovation Fees'. Anyway I digress. 60 is a dream, 70 would be lucky.

I had an epidural in my back yesterday and ate like a horse for recovery so I am 90.3kg this morning. I did a slow 40 minute walk on the treadmill after awful sleep.

Morning all, it's good to check in here every now and then to get some motivation! 😀 I'm sort of in a routine now with regard to food as I've moved into my place and started watching more what I eat - God, it's hard though! I've nearly lost a kilo last time I checked….it's veerrry sloooow. Trying to get out for more walks but there always seems to be something else that takes over. I need to start tracking really on myfitnesspal - that'll really keep me accountable - so much in my brain though! Am tapering off my meds also at the moment, so heading to the doc today to ask to be prescribed lower dose again so hopefully it'll all work out. I'm convinced that the meds had a bit to do with my insatiable appetite too the last while!
