How did you find them? I'm debating going with them.

Just give them a call and they'll hand over the details you need to you for self monitoring.

The firmwate updates are automatic. The system pretty much runs itself

hi, looking at getting a new alarm, possibly from home secure. They seem to be raving over this ajax system.
when the contracts finishes and you buy the alarm outright, can you still use the app and be notified on your phone if it’s set off?

    Hi guys,

we’re Just buying a new house, and we’re looking at updating our outdated alarm system and I was just wondering which route did everyone else take when it comes to Ajax. Home Secure or DIY? Home Secure does seem to be the easier route, but then again with the system being wireless, it doesn’t seem to be a rocket science either to set it up by yourself so I’m not sure what would I be gaining/losing if I went DIY vs homesecure route.

If anybody did the comparison recently, I’d appreciate if you guys shared your opinions and experiences.

Ajax seems to be the way to go here by the looks of it.

I'm thinking of putting a sensor on my side gate, but I'm told the door protect plus aren't ip rated. What sensor would you recommend?

Home secure are increasing monitoring fees by 3.50/month. Has anyone cancelled & got monitoring from somewhere else? I want to cancel but my wife doesn't want to reply on self monitoring. Does anyone have any recommendations for a monitoring company & how much the charges are likely to be?

I know this is an old post, but did you figure something out. I've paid off my system with homesecure but being charged 35 a month for monitoring only. Would be interested to find an alternative

No, I haven't done anything since. I hoped someone else would have done it. I just did a quick search for alarm monitoring. Most are for companies supplying their own systems. There was a Sharpgroup website that says the monitor all alarms. I've sent them an enquiry so if they get back to me I'll update here.

If not I may just phone to cancel & see if they reduce the monthly charge. When I signed up I asked about follow on charges & they told me once the system is paid they would drop the monthly charge, not increase it. If they refuse I'll cancel & find somewhere else. Network only charge 28/month.

Monitoring just got in my way... If you are able to answer their call when an alarm goes off you are able to look at the system yourself.

I had an alarm go off one day, so opened the app for my cameras to see what was going on. Then HS called me to demand passwords etc... they had also called my brother and my parents, so while I was trying to resolve any issue myself, I was getting calls from three other sources… it turns out a ladder had fallen over and triggered the alarm, but I couldn't get to that for all the messing. Now I just monitor it myself (which means I just have the app on my phone as usual)...

I want to self monitor it but my wife want's it monitored. More in case someone tries to break in when she's home rather than when we're away, for the panic alarm.

We've had a few calls. Usually the dog barking set's it off. There was once when I was out there were 2 alarms triggered & the guards called me, around 9am. I told them I was out & nobody was home so they said they'd someone to check as soon as they could. 11pm that night the guards called to the door. What's the point of that?

Sharpgroup replied, they only do commercial properties so no joy there.

Just an FYI I haggled my monitoring down to €19.95 p/m. I actually did this months ago but an 'administrative error' meant I've been overcharged for the last while.

While I still think it's a bit steep, for the avoidance of hassle I'm ok with paying €19.95 per month for monitoring

Hi all, looking for some advice.

I installed an Ajax self monitored alarm in my house in 2024 and very impressed with it.

The parents have an old HKC alarm which is monitored by a local company which they'd like to change to a self monitored alarm.

From research I plan on re-using their wired sensors and sounders by using the Ajax Multi Transmitter linked below, a Ajax Hub and a new keypad.

    https://ajax.systems/products/specs/multitransmitter/

I correct on my above assumption or have I missed something?

I've been thinking about doing the same for a while, I'd love to know how you get on. We also have an old (25 years!) HKC system and I'd like to upgrade but re-use the existing wired sensors.
